After what seems like forever, I have finally been approved for my surgery and have a date set! I will be banded on January 15,2013!! Super excited and nervous already . I meet with my surgeon again on Dec.27 to discuss the 2 week liquid diet-- so notttt looking forward to that part! I would appreciate any suggestions on things to eat during that phase and the post surgery phase as well. Also, what things should I take with me to the hospital and what do I need to buy to be prepared for recovering at home?

Congratulations on getting a date. You don't really need much for the hospital. I brought slippers-they give those slipper sox. Bring a tooth brush and tooth paste, deodorant and a hair brush. You go home usually the next day. Bring elastic waste pants and slip on shoes. Nothing special. You will be given prescriptions for liquid meds, make sure you take them. No straws, I haven't been given the go ahead since my banding, 7/30. I really enjoy my protein shakes. I only drink chocolate, add decaf (only) coffee, peppermint extract and lots of ice and it tastes great. I hate breakfast so I have a shake every morning. I just had a fill and my doctor has me on liquids for 3 days, mushy foods for 3 days then back to my regular diet after day 7. It becomes no big deal except when the husband wants to eat dinner out all the time.

Good luck, you will do great.

Thank you for the comment Dylanmiles23. I haven't been on lately--- trying to get ready for the holidays and all. I think it's really starting to sink in that this will really happen soon! Today, I started feeling really nervous about it and wondering if I've made the right decision, will it work for me, or is this just gonna be another failed attempt! I guess everyone goes through these thoughts and feelings. I will just be glad to get the pre-op diet and actual surgery behind me!
