  1. Great story!! I wish I could stop at 2-3 oz. of steak. Happy birthday husband.
  2. Welcome to LapBand. I am so sorry to hear about the accident etc.I had the surgery 7/30 and I am doing great. I was at my heaviest in March and since then down 58 lbs. I really enjoy my morning protein shakes. That is really how I lost weight before the Band. I am not a breakfast eater. Just remember, chew, chew, chew. And also protein is the most important food item to be eaten first. I love lump crab meat, meatballs, hamburg. Easy to chew food to the best. You will do great.
  3. thank you. I am dyslectic and can not spell and sometimes spell check can't figure out what I have tried to spell. Who cares, let's just talk and help each other.
  4. Good luck. I have always bought candy I hate. I am very fussy so I never had a problem. Today I bought Hershey's chocolate bars, I hate them. I only eat dark, not milk chocolate. Today I had my first real cheat, a small amount of ice cream with hot fudge. It was great but a first cheat since the beginning of July is great. Just think we are only hurting ourselves. Enjoy the party!!!!

Hi fellow Banders. Can we wear Spanx after surgery? For some reason I think I heard you should not wear them. Also, I went to my PCP today and had my first Flu shot ever, at 62. The doctor said there is a new version this year and if you get it expect 7 days in the hospital. That heard, got the shot. Enjoy your evening, all.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother.
  7. After my surgery I went to taking no more meds! except 1/2 of my high blood pressure pill which I put into my shake. Everything else is chewable.I take all chewable vitamins and minerals from Bariatric Advantage. When I came home from the hospital my 3 meds were liquid and I only used them for a short time except the liquid Zantac was for one month. It's a new life. Sharon Osbourne has been banded for over 10 years and looks great.
  8. Welcome. Don't be afraid. I was banded 7/30 of this year and turned 62, 2 weeks ago. I have never felt so good. Just remember, Chew, Chew, Chew and you should not have problems. Since my highest weight on March I am down 59 lbs. I have a protein shake every morning, I hate eggs and other breakfast foods. Protein is the most important food to have. I have chocolate, add decaf instant coffee and some peppermint extract and tons of ice and it's nice and thick like a McD's shake. They fill you for about 4-5 hours. This site is wonderful and I have met some wonderful people and we all tell, all. Good luck!!! Arlene (real name)
  9. I weigh myself 2-5 times a day. I do know what you're saying. One of my sons told me to throw out my friend. I can't, never!!! Good luck.
  10. Happy Monday all. After not losing any pounds for about 4 weeks, I finally lost some weight! I am so thrilled. 10 more pounds and I will be less than 200!!!!! Never thought in my 60's I would ever see those numbers again. In 3 weeks I have my nephews wedding and I bought a great pants suit, size 18, misses not women's! The pants are a little big and the jacket is too perfect, could use a little room. I will give it another week to see if the buttons need to be moved. Dr. Oz just said at 2pm is the best time of day to cheat with a sugar boost, like 1 oz. of dark chocolate. Do any of you eat chocolate? I haven't yet but that is my favorite thing, with peppermint in it. Enjoy your evening. Arlene

Congratulations!! The ring I was married in 42 years ago finally fits me again. I know the wonderful feeling.
  12. One day she will see you are on her side. I have a 34 year old son who is very obese. I have tried everything with him. He knows better because he has been thinner. He now has a wife and 2 sons who all eat crap! They lived with me for 10 months so I know how they eat. Awful. At least you are making great meals. Good luck with her seeing you are not the wicked witch.
  13. Both of you have great nails. Mine are short because I am done with tips. Tips ruined my real nails and gel polish peels off.

I am from New England, home of great lobster. I was told by many banders that after surgery food can be different. I guess tonight I had my last lobster. It was just too chewy for me. I am sad. I do eat a lot of jumbo lump crab and that agrees with me. I have had shrimp and that goes down fine. The only way I would eat clams is fried, so that is out and I don't do scallops. I find salmon does down super. Tomorrow I am making a pot roast. My husband does not eat meat, only poultry and fish. I guess that means about 12 pot roast meals for me. Everyone have a great weekend. Arlene

Great goals. I have never thought of doing them. Keep up the good work.
  16. What a wonderful story! Great mother. I have 2 sons. Both are 6'2" and there is about 150-200 pounds between them. The youngest is the heavy one. I have tried everything with him. He is now 34 married with children. He and his wife eat awful foods and their 2 sons do too. When they lived me they knew I didn't approve of their choices. It is so hard. Doing the Band was the best thing I did. I hope one day my son wakes up and watches his in take. Good luck with yourself and your sons.

Before my band I had all those problems. Took 6 pills a day to eat. My doctor repaired my hernia and my stomach was in the wrong place, which he fixed too. I feel great without all those problems. Have you been checked for those? I have liquid Zantac from my surgery. Good luck.
  18. I wish you a lot of luck. That is awful that after all these years that would happen.

Good luck!! Since my fill 4 weeks ago, I am the same weight. My pants fit better but I have major muffin top. Exercise like a mad person.
  20. you look amazing! Sorry to hear about your illness. Can you find another doctor closer to where you live? I know where I had my surgery there are 3 surgeons in that office. Keep up the good work.
  21. I still see myself as very fat even though I am down almost 60 lbs. since March. My face lost the chubbiness and my new jean size is misses not womens anymore! I haven't lost any weight since my fill 3 1/2 weeks ago but the inches have gone down. That I don't understand. Good luck.
  22. Sorry to hear about the shakes. I love them. I use Lactaid milk because regular milk was bothering me. People also use soy or almond milk. In my shakes I put decaf instant coffee, peppermint extract and lots of ice cubes and it comes out very thick and filling. I only drink chocolate flavored powder. Good luck!
  23. Hi, I had a fill 3 1/2 weeks ago and my weight has stayed the same but I have lost inches. I bought a pair of jeans 3 weeks ago and they fit great and were tight when I bought them. Good luck!

Good evening everyone After banding can you eat ribs? I haven't tried them yet. Yesterday I tried a chicken wing and it was too chewy, so I couldn't eat it. Wings are one of my favorite foods. Bye Bye wings. Also, how about rack of lamb? Is that a food that goes down well? Thank you.
