So I decided to go get a mani and pedi today. I get monthly pedis, I don't know how to file , cut or polish and besides for $20. it's worth getting done. There were 2 women (friends) and they both had their big toe nails very long and they were fake! Why? Has anyone heard of anything so dumb. I live in Boston, it is not warm enough for sandals. I have purple polish on and for the big toes only, I have a darker purple pokka dot. Saw it from Lancome in pinks, so cute. Everyone deserves a pedi for spring and summer and the massage chairs, OMG-I could get one weekly just for the chairs. Have a great TGIF and weekend. Arlene

I so agree with everything you wrote. Last night I was looking in the big mirror in the bathroom and saw the Bingo arms-OMG! I have lost 73 pounds since March, 2012 but only around 45 since July when I got banded and that bothers me a lot. I did get down to 193 once or twice but I stay around 195. But then it took longer than one year for me to get to the 268. We are eating healthier and moving my sedate bodies and that deserves a star.*
  3. I think fear is in all of us. With the Band, it can be removed, By-pass, NO, the sleeve, your stomach is gone more or less. That is what made me think the band was the only choice. I am thrilled I have it and it is working for me to control my large portions. Good luck with your choice.
  4. I love that you asked a great question. With so many STD's around would you like it if your female partner gave you one?
  5. Welcome. You were very smart to find this site before your surgery. I found it late but glad I found it. A few things I wish I did before, like take before pictures and measurements. I didn't start measurements until 2 months after the Band so I have no idea how many inches I really loss. My heaviest was March, 2012 and the surgery was the end of July, 2012, so I know I have lost many many inches. Love fitting into smaller clothes. The best feeling is trying on a size that you are convinced won't fit and they are BIG! Enjoy your new life as a thinner person and listen to your doctor and dietitian because every person on this site, their's have different thoughts.
  6. Perfect as always. Thank you for your wonderful words.
  7. I know I want thinness and healthiness more than bad foods. When I got banded, the junk food left the building with Elvis. Also being that I am a very fussy eater I buy my husband foods that I would never eat. I got fat eating lots of breads. I only eat bread in restaurants if it's really good. I also love buying and wearing smaller size clothes. Nothing looks and feels better than feeling great about yourself. So as CG would say, suck it up and get over it. You had how many years of fun eating-I had 61 1/2 years, I am done.

I am from Boston, home of Dunkin' Donuts. They are on every corner here. My small town has 4 of them. Krispy Creme failed in this area. That did hit home. I miss donuts. My favorite is a powder donut filled with thick chocolate frosting. My record is 3 in 10 minutes. I even know which DD's has the best donuts, that is awful. Have a great day. Arlene
  9. Congratulations on the getting the band. I am one of the weird ones, I never researched or looked on line. My lung doctor told me you are doing this and I never looked back. I found this site and being computer challenged I didn't know how to find everything and read negatives. I guess that was good for me. Just remember the band is a tool and needs your help to work. Also every doctor and dietitian in this world have their own rules. When in doubt call them. We all try to help with general questions. Arlene
  10. I use a Fitbit to keep track. I don't use a food scale but I buy my protein items in 4 oz portions. There are on line free sites that many people use also. Today I am making 1 pound of meatballs and know 3 are one meal
  11. Don't ever give up on yourself. I got the band at 61 1/2 and it is the best thing I have done for me and the rest of the world. I can move. I eat in restaurants many times a week and have no problems. Tonight I had salmon from the children's menu and brought 1/2 home. I had lunch with a high school friend last week and did great. I just don't like breakfast out. I did go on Sunday with MIL and 2 of my grandsons and had 1 piece of toast because I had a shake at home. Have fun with the girls and your husband and enjoy life. I am from Boston and last week sucked here, enjoy yourself!!!!!!!!! Now call the girls for a night out and order smart. Arlene
  12. I buy body fortress and it comes in vanilla. It is under $20 at Walmart The protein is around 26 a scoop
  13. Should say gum. Just love these iPhones that correct themselves
  14. You can't eat with wet nail polish on. I use top coat every night
  15. I thought you have 2 dobermans.
  16. I understand everything you wrote. I still eat too fast and my husband tells all the time. One day I hope to find the "Green Zone" like it is finding the Wizard of Oz at the end of the yellow brick road. I am drinking my protein shake and then off to the gym-wait that sounds like you, too. Enjoy your 'happy hump day'.
  17. I was banded in July but have been drinking protein shakes for 13 months for breakfast. I use chocolate Body Fortress with 8 oz skim milk, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it is as thick as a McDonald's shake. I use 2 scoops of the mix to make sure I have enough protein and I also find I am good for 4-6 hours. I have a small Hamilton Beach blender that doubles as the drinking cup. I bought mini ice cube trays at Bed Bath and Beyond and use a whole tray in each shake. I hate breakfast foods so that is why I have a shake every morning. good luck, hope I helped.
  18. Congratulations on not being an over weigh adult in your 40-50-60's etc. I was. I had the Band in July at 61 1/2. Good luck next week.
