Scared and on the fence!
I think it is great that you have a doctor that cares about your health. The band can be removed, if need be. Bypass and the sleeve can not be removed. The sleeve they remove most of your stomach and being so young I would never even consider that. The few people I know who had bypass after about 6-10 years they are all large again. What do your parents think? I have a 34 year old son who has been obese most of his life and he is finally watching what he eats. Maybe go to the meetings they have at the local hospital. I am going to my monthly support group tomorrow night. I love them and learn a lot and talk with other people. My group has all 3 types of surgery patients. Last month about 6 people were still deciding on what surgery to have wish you a lot of luck with your choices. I know I wish the band was around many years ago. The best thing I have done for myself in years. I am much older than you, 62 1/2. Arlene

Calories, Calories, Calories
I use a Fitbit to record all my intake and movements. But there are many free sites that people talk about. Fitness Pal is one of them. You write in what you cook and I guess it helps with the calories.

Salad
Ken's Steak House is very old and elegant style but people now go in jeans. They offer all you can eat salad that is sprayed with their Italian dressing. My MIL thinks the restaurants dressings are better than the bottled. I guess different factory. They have wonderful onion rolls, I never tasted one-maybe 3-4. I use their lite Cesaer to marinade everything.

New band patient and I may have messed up.
By eating other than what the doctor or dietitian recommends can hurt the surgery. Your band area has to heal, you had major surgery. Maybe call your dietitian tomorrow and ask for help. I had a lot of sf Popsicles. Good luck.

Salad
I eat salad almost every day but I have never had dressing in my life. I know-I am weird. But have you tried spraying the salad. In a suburb of Boston there is a very famous steak house, Ken's and they are famous for their salads and they are sprayed. A salad maker told my MIL years ago. They sell the spray bottles but it is most likely cheaper to get your own bottle and spray.

my husband/gym partner
Today I needed to go to KMart, about 5 miles from the house. So my husband came with me so we could go to the gym after. We got to the car and he asked for me to bring him home. I asked what's wrong and he said, I am lazy and don't feel like going. I said, no excuse, and I drove us to the gym. I enjoyed it and he sort of did and he admitted he was happy he went. The other day it was nice weather in Boston and not too far away we have wonderful outlet shopping. My husband and I walked all over, 4500 steps. He has been very sick for almost 2 years and this is the most walking he has done since. It was wonderful, outside and walking. Exercise has become very important to me, just that I blew 40 years away of not being active except I learned to ski at 40 but quit after 4-5 years because of knee troubles and my NH house had a rodent problem and I refused to go there so I rented it and finally sold it. The house was in the woods with deer in the yard and hunters all over the place. Funny story-(I wear fur!) My sons would tell me during hunting season to go out walking with the fur on. Nice sons. Have a fun exercise day and keep moving!!!!!!!!!

So Random
I have been banded since July but have been having a protein shake for breakfast for 14 months and I am not sick of them. They are super thick with tons of ice. I also use 2 scoops of protein, I know that is a lot but it fills me for 4-6 hours. I have the small Hamilton Beach blender that doubles as a drinking cup. I have mini ice cube trays and use a whole tray in each shake with 8 oz skim milk.

Vents
My weight goes between 193 and 195 for about one month now. I don't get it either and I am very past TOM's. I see my doctor next week but I am down since my visit with him in February.

thank you for telling me to read all this. I am 1/2 year younger than you and when things go wrong, I like to know. Thank you. I just hope they can help you and soon.- Hung to Dry
I am so sorry to hear you got so sick. Do Not Give Up!! We are all here to try to help you. I have had my PCP call and make appointments for me with specialists. Would yours with the Band people? I have never eaten 1/2 cup of anything. I eat more than that. I have under 3 cc in a 10 band. Try mind over matter and don't think about the band's liquid think about your health and try to retrain yourself to have less food. I wish you luck with everything.- I hate fish...
I am not a fish fan either. I was at a party and they passed around cubes of salmon in sesame seeds with an Asian sauce and since then I am hooked on salmon. I thought it was swordfish, which I like. I pan cook it and make it almost black and crispy.- Stretch marks after Lap Band
I agree with Missy and CG, they are there. After 2 kids and endless weight gains and losses I have the USA road map on my belly. I have cottage cheese thighs, but I am thinner and healthier. I don't plan on wearing a bikini this summer either or any other.- Spent most of the night and all morning in the ER....
I am very happy you finally went to the er. No one should be in pain. Have a wonderful cruise and bring a camera.- Inches Victory!
Inches are wonderful. I lose more of them than pounds. I measure once a month. Keep up the super job.- Top Doctor's Opinion re Revision options-Posted on Complications Forum
My husband always says, doctors practice medicine. The word practice is the key. They try and hope it works. The band, by pass and the sleeve, non are perfect. If it works for you, then it is perfect. Marriage is the same, if it works for you and your partner, then it is perfect. Everyone has their views just don't knock it and scare the world. Liz Taylor never gave up on marriage and she still never got it right. She had 8? husbands. That didn't scare me away from marriage. I am married 42 1/2 years to my high school sweetheart. Hopefully we will not need 8 different weight loss surgeries.- lapband with plications?
CG is the best person to answer. She has had amazing results and is doing super. Maybe ask her.- all surgery pros and cons
thank you. I knew you would like it. Dylan is a grandson and also Matt is his older brother and Max is the new one from Roger. Have a super day. Spring has come!- Its been 6 days
Why did you get the band? To go against everything the doctor said. You have to rest the area and liquids. Call your doctor and ask before you try any more foods- all surgery pros and cons
I have 2 wonderful sons. Roger is the oldest, 38 and Frank is 34. Roger was born chicken breasted. He needed to have surgery to fix his chest at 2 1/2. If it was not fixed he could have had a heart attack by age 10, his heart was not in the right place and he was hunch backed from the chest problems. My husband asked the surgeon about risks (he was head of pediatric surgery at Boston Children's Hospital). The doctor said you can walk across the street and get killed. Since that time when any doctor has recommended surgery my husband don't really think of it. By the time Roger was 5 he had 4 different surgeries. He is perfect! Frank was born slightly chicken breasted but did not need the surgery because his heart was in the right place. So this leads to why I am writing. There are pros and cons to everything. Last week a young man around 24ish had his wisdom teeth pulled and died. You never know when it's your time to go. I love this site and enjoy reading about other's wonderful results, accomplishments and seeing their pictures. I am too computer challenged to put any pictures on, sorry. Writing that the Band is awful because you had a problem is sad but don't knock all of us. A Boston hospital many many years ago did a research drug, turned out to be Merida, I signed up. It worked great for me until I stopped. In the study, in Boston and England they said 2 women had strokes. You know what, I didn't think about quitting because out of the 2500 people they were over 60 and with that many people there is sure to be health issues. Let's all think positive thoughts, that we are going to beat Obesity and get healthy and fit. I know I am doing it. By the way I have had about a dozen different surgeries. From a small mole I got MRS. You never know what is going to happen. Have a wonderful evening and super Tuesday-spring has arrived!!!!!! at least in Boston. Arlene - Almost 3 months post op
