Esophogeal dialation
Hi strawberry, Sorry you had to go through all that. Do you have a reference for the research that you read? I have not heard that the band needs replacing after 5 years, and my clinical practice here in Australia is one of the leading centres for lap band placement in the world. The surgery has been performed here since 1994. Hope that you feel better anyway. Susannah

Hi Natz, Sorry to hear about the trouble with your ex husband. It must be hard being a single mother, but hey need violence like a hole in the head right?! I went through a fair bit of pain after mu op, but then I have other medical issues so it probably hit my body harder than others. The good news is that you recover pretty quickly. the band will change your life, and it will be worth the wait. Mark, How are you cookie? Nice to see you posting here. Why do you have to wait so long for a fill? Are you a public patient? I am going for a fill next week, as I have been starting to feel hungry again. I think my band has gotten loose from lots of weight loss.:clap2::biggrin1: Yay!!!! Susannah

Different size bands?
Hi There, I believe that the surgeon decides which size band best suits you when you are actually in surgery. The surgeon looks at the shape/density of your stomach and takes your weight into account also I would imagine. The different size bands hold varying amounts of fluid. Your surgeon will advise you about the type of band you have, and it's fill capacity. Hope this helps. Susannah

Hi There, Can't help you there because I was banded at The Avenue Hospital. I haven't heard much about the Epworth banding program to be honest. Apparently they do Gastric Bypass surgery there too. Good luck with it. Susannah

America's best city?
Hi Annie, I really love lighthouses. There is something really soothing and calming about them when they are bathed in moonlight. Typical that Stephen King should have a blood red mansion. I know he is very proud of Maine. Susannah

Hey Girlz, Chickie no apologies needed. Mate this whole banding caper is not all beer and skittles that's for sure. Other people reckon we have taken the easy way out. WTF???!!!!! You still have to work at it every day. Hey Jacqui do you remember that old guy that used to run everywhere in his gumboots? He did marathons etc. Can't remember his name, but he was still running in his seventies before he died I recall. Susannah

Hey Jacqui, You and chickie have both blitzed it for sure. You have done very well. My only concern is that running is very hard on the body. Are you worried long term about knee trouble/arthritis etc and permanent damage? If you are not resting your body at all are you worried that you will wear it out earlier and have long term damage? Susannah
