Do the voices ever disappear?

You know the ones in the back of your head that are saying that you are going to fail on this band? I am doing great, more sucessful than I ever was on any diet plan. But I am still so scared that I am going to mess this up. That I am going to out eat this band. The little voice in my head is screaming that I am going to fail because, well, why wouldn't history repeat itself.

Does it ever go away?

If history repeated itself, I would be mother to half a dozen kids by half a dozen fathers. After all, isn't that how all teen mothers end up? (I only have 1 child, for the record! LOL)

I am not a big believer in letting past screw up determine how I live my life in the future. I take my lessons, and move on.

The lesson I took from my failed diets / plans was, not to just "diet" I had to change my life. Change my lifestyle. Change my way of thinking about my health, and nutrition.

When I learned that lesson, the "You will fail" monster went away.

I think I may have squashed him when I went for a run one day, LMAO.

I still think about that too. I'm feeling it less and less now that I've lost a pretty significant amount of weight. But it's always there.

It's still there for me. I hope to get to Chickie's place someday, but I'm still struggling to get there. The voices are not as loud or as frequent as they were a year ago, or 6 months ago, but they do still pop up from time to time.

I hope to get there too chickie! I am just not used to actually succeeding at losing weight so I feel like another foot is going to drop and put all my weight back on me.

Think back. You must have had something in your life where at first you failed, but eventually succeeded.

I bet that you felt the same way about that too (although the degree may vary)

Anything is possible. We are only governed by our own fears. Once you can let go of that fear, you will find that the monster / voices go away.

Unfortunately I hear that voice, and I'm NOT doing as good as I have when I did Atkins, which is haunting me.

I lost 60lbs in 2 months on Atkins.. I'm down to 1lb a week right now.. slow sailin and it makes me nervous that it's not gonna work.

Chickie have you ever considered becoming a motivational speaker? ;)

You are right. I need to have a bit more confidence in myself and what I am capable of. I have a more powerful tool now than I ever had and I just need to know that as long as I work with it I am going to succeed.

Hey Babygrl, I thought the voices you were talking about were the " I want some candy bars and a packet of chips ,and I want em now!!!" voices. Hee Hee!!!

I have the same issue. I'm in school right now too.

As I was talking to my counselor I was going on about what if I fail? I've always stopped when it got tough with weight loss and school.

She helped me remember times that I wouldn't give up...like jumping through hoops for 14 months to get this surgery...like being in school now a solid 2 years now.

And she said I need to get a new mental picture of myself as not a quitter, but as someone who is persistent. Which kind of clicked because I had been working on getting the a picture of my actual physical self that was more acurate. Before I was over 300 pounds thinking I was healthy.

Anyway, it's working to squelch the voice of doubt.

And we do become the future we visualize. So when doubt creeps in, push it out with visions of you being victorious. OR better yet, just keep thinking of your positive outcomes so doubt doesn't have room to pop up.

I thought those were the voices too - those have gotten quieter - but they still whisper every now and then - definatly easier to ignore now
