  1. destynee, I'm a little worried about you starting this so soon, you were only banded on Oct 22, it's a time for healing, not losing weight. Have you talked with your surgeon about this? Would be interested in his input. I'm going for my 6wk follow up tomorrow and hopefully my first fill. Best wishes!
  2. Thoughts & prayers to all you being banded tomorrow! See you on the banded side!
  3. Like Mis says, talk with Dr&staff, but continue to educate yourself. My nutritionists said that most ppl only retain 30% of whats being told. You are your best advocate!
  4. Thanks Cheryl! I def stop eating, it hurts like hell! If it does continue I won't have a problem overeating : )
  5. You're in the right place here, plus there's a book Bandwagon written by our very own Jean McMillian, a must read for all. Ask any questions you may have and they'll get answered. Glad you're trying to educate yourself before surgery. I always say knowledge equals success. Best wishes on your journey!
  6. Glad this subject was brought up. After surgery I didn't have the shoulder pain like everyone speaks of. Since going on regular eating I get terrible left shoulder pain and I've used it as a sign to stop eating and shortly after eating it stops. I figured it was a nerve, but wasn't sure if it is a you're full sign.
  7. My weight has stayed the same or gone down. I'm bad and weigh every morning before I start my day.
  8. I'm 6wks out tomorrow. I had a 6mth Dr supervised diet I had to do before surgery. I lived everyday on this forum and learned so much and have made a lot of supportive friends.
  9. Welcome Mikah! I'm from the SW coast of Florida, waiting on knee replacement. So I know a little about the pain. I'm just at 6wks and so far I'm pretty happy with the band. I have yoyo dieted for 40 yrs so my metabolism was nearly nonexistent. Between that & knees is the reason I choose LBS. I think going back for fills & check ups is the best thing you can do for yourself and being here for additional knowledge & support is the icing on the diet cake. You can do this! You know what doesn't work, so it's time to do was does! We're all here for you!
  10. Glad you survived! Take it really easy today, you probably irritated your esophagus. Might need protein shakes & mushies a few days. I've always had problems with breast meat on chicken, so I know turkey breast would be bad. Problem is I prefer the breast :*( Take care & have a blessed day!
  11. Congratulations! Do you know what your insurance requires yet? Hope it goes easy! This is a great site for knowledge, inspiration & support. Stick around and learn all you can about LBS. The band is a tool that has to be used properly. Best wishes on your journey!
  12. That's great! Did you need a hernia repair with LBS? I did and evidently I had silent reflux. I never had heartburn, but endo showed years ago damage to esophagus from acid. Since then I take 1 Prilosec daily. Really glad you're not suffering anymore!
  13. You really didn't think I was being serious, did you?
  14. Surgery is an hour, but 30 mins set up and 30 recovery. Least that's how mine was.
  15. 2 hrs from start to waking up in recovery
  16. Awww, he had to get out of the house. That one day really took it out of him, poor guy. It's hard work you know. Men, they can be real asses sometimes! Sorry any male bandsters, but 8 out of 10 times they are.
  17. I had 3oz prime rib, tbsp mash potatoes & tbsp stuffing and lost 1 lb. Best Thanksgiving ever!
  18. After waiting 6 wks getting my first fill Monday. On my mushie stage I made all kinds of homemade soups & stews, blending and they were good. My fave Taco soup! Ricotta, low fat cheese & spaghetti sauce warm for 30 sec in micro good too. You can do this!
  19. I have to add Dulcolax powder to a drink about once a week. It's tasteless, dissolves completely& you can add it to any liquid including water. I find it a lot less stimulating than most, just makes you go. Hope everything comes out all right :0)
  20. Welcome Marissa! Congratulations on being banded and starting a new healthier life! You will find a lot of friends here. The support, knowledge & inspiration will help you through this journey. Post often so everyone gets to know you and lets rock this band world together.
  21. I got this yesterday and I hadn't eaten anything. It was right after I drank some cold Water. I drank room temp water the rest of the day and I had no problem with Prime Rib I had for dinner. I think the water was just too cold, but it hurt for along time. Be interesting what others say!
  22. You might find more answers on this board, since it's for people from the UK go to Forum Home and scroll down to Local Lap Band Support Groups and find the UK link there. It's hard for us American's to know how things work in the UK. Good Luck!
