  1. Stick to it!! There are other threads going at the moment where the person has stuck to their diet, gone under and the surgeon wasn't happy with the amount of liver shrinkage...so stitched them back up and wouldn't continue! My biggest fear is waking up in pain and finding out that thu dust go ahead with the surgery! I was supposed to do a 31 days diet but they bought my surgery forward so I'm getting sleeved on the 11th September. I'm currently at day 12 of 16 and am starving!!! I'm light headed and all that- but I do not want to be opened and closed without having the surgery done. You can do this!!!!!!!!
  2. Ha! We just might be sleeve buddies! I too am 3 shakes a day with a weightloss goal of 5-10kg (times 2.2for lb) but if I don't reach it I have to weight till 9th October! So I am struggling too. I am at the end of my fourth day and have already succumbed to chicken and veg tonight. But staying focused on the prize!! I am allowed unlimited non starchy veg so plan on making some soups to last me through. Good luck!! You CAN do this!!
  3. Firstly- congratulations! Be very proud of your achievement. I am wondering if the reason you are so uncomfortable with the tight clothes is because pre sleeve tight clothes meant we were yet again putting more weight on? And baggy clothes mean we were losing weight (for the time being) so we are more comfortable. Putting on your tight clothes may take your sub concious back to the days when you felt overweight, uncomfortable and exposed. I think this could also be something that u need to do once to get past the fear and then you will be fine. Put them on, tell yourself how amazing you look (because u do!) self confidence can pull off almost anything and once you get out there, all the compliments you receive will reaffirm how amazing you look and what you have achieved.
  4. I'm 3 days into a 31 day pre-op. My surgeon said at least 3 weeks was required, so I'm doing an extra week. So far this decision sits well with me, but I'm sure I'll hit 2 weeks and just crave to eat something! 3 shakes and non starch veg and loads of water is all I'm allowed to have. I'm just thinking of the weightloss I can achieve before I get the sleeve- trying to concentrate on that instead!
  5. Yeah, 31 days! Lol. I have a BMI of just over 45 however on appearances he said he wouldn't have picked me for 40. So he is concerned my fat is mainly stored around my organs. He requested at least 3 weeks as he is concerned the amount of fat I could be storing around my liver will interfere with the surgery and if this is the case he will not operate. I have been eating a fair bit lately and Realised that if I waited another week, it would just be another week of eating bad food, so I decided that I would start the next day. I'm Australian, getting sleeved in Brisbane. Thanks for the support! No doubt I'll be needing it when I'm sick of this and just want to eat real food!
  6. I am at the end of my second day of a 31 day pre-op diet. 3 shakes and non starch veg plus plenty of water is all I'm allowed. My sister made cupcakes tonight, I didnt want any of them which is good- but right now I'm in bed and starving!!!! I have resigned myself to the fact that I'm on the diet for a long time so trying not to get worked up about it. I have also been planning my parents 40th wedding anniversary cake and dinner tonight- then realising its a month after surgery and I won't be able to eat any of it!!
  7. I bet that is very frustrating. Although your not doing it for anyone else but you, you still want people to notice!!! Post some pix here- I'm sure we would be able to tell!!
  8. Sorry- try again... "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds"......sorry Albert!!
  9. My three favourites: "Great minds have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds"- Albert Einstein "You can explore the universe looking for somebody who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and you will not find that person anywhere." - Buddha "The fool thinks he has won a battle when he bullies with harsh speech, but knowing how to be forbearing alone makes one victorious." - Buddha
  10. I told my sister first, thinking she would be support for me when I told my parents but no. She said its a load of rubbish, a waste of money and I just needed to stop being so lazy and get out an exercise. None of my family have been supportive about it- even laughing at me saying how was I going to go a whole 2 weeks on the liquid diet before surgery if I can't even stick to a normal diet. Even my mother said things like 'I know you, you wont be able to finish it' that they just know I won't be able to do it (liquid diet) without cheating. Thankfully I have told 3 amazing friends who have been over the moon and just as excited as I am. How crazy that these friends have already organised who will be taking what shifts to visit me at the hospital but my family will not be coming up to see me.
  11. Hey Laura, have you been over to the Attention! Australian Sleevers thread? Heaps of local support and advise :-)
