So sorry you have to have your band removed but it sounds like you have a good handle on your diet and exercise......good luck with your move and all that lies ahead. Even if you're on the other side of the world the forum is here and you're not alone. Best wishes!

Thank you hiddn, I feel much better! It's nice to hear from someone who has had this done and continues to lose weight. I've heard a lot about primal eating and I might just give that a try, go back to the basics and it's usually cheaper to eat this way too, so that's another benefit .

    HI!
I had my band removed in September of this year after 3 years, but not for erosion.
I'm sorry yours has eroded. It's good they found it early (or at least before you started having ugly symptoms).
I chose to not have any more weight loss surgery. My insurance covered the removal as it was medically necessary. It also paid to have it implanted.
Your idea of continuing to eat as though banded is good, in my opinion. It is what has helped me. I continue to lose weight or hold. At first I lost 8 pounds pretty quickly. Now it is slow and I sometimes stall for a while before it drops again. I want to lose at least 40 more pounds.
Having your band removed is not an automatic sentence of weight gain! Not at all!!!
Keep your goal as your top priority, no matter what.
I feel so much better without the band because my body was rejecting it; so it helps me to feel how wonderful I feel being at a lighter weight and continuing on from here.
I eat mostly Protein and vegetables. I'm finding recipes from www.health-bent.com are helpful. My surgeon suggests a modified Mediterranean diet and also promotes the cook book found on health-bent called, Primal Cravings.
I also take a high quality probiotic from Metagenics called, Acute Care.
Banded or not, keep heading in the direction of your goal!
I feel very fortunate to have found a surgeon who realized my band needed to come out. Your surgeon may have saved you a lot of pain and grief by getting to the problem before things got bad (as other people have described on this site). I had 3 years of discomfort, the last 2 quite miserable, before finding someone who could see clearly what needed to happen. I am so grateful.
I'm glad you're being proactive about diet and thinking about how to proceed!

Thank you MsKeeKee, I will keep that in mind and may revisit it after my healing period, which is about 6 months and only if insurance will cover it (I'm moving to another country and I think my insurance there will cover it, my current coverage in the US will not).

I actually did it, and it's my first! And not only did I try bikinis on, but I stepped out of the dressing room to see what the hubs thought at that. Just crazy I tell ya.
Since I just recently had cosmetic surgery I hesitated between a bikini and full body. My biggest insecurity are the arm scars. But I figured you could see those no matter which one I wore so I'm taking a gamble
Anyway, I got a whole education on how to fit a bikini today (thank you sales associates!) and feel confident that I and the girls will be looking our best on our upcoming trip to Florida and the Bahamas.
(Now someone play the steel drums, I'll pour the rum&punch)

You can do it Kim! If it makes you feel any better, I killed a whole box of vanilla wafers this past weekend. I hate my sweet tooth and wish I could just kill it somehow, so I totally relate to the sweet cravings. I'm getting a slight unfill tomorrow, I keep getting stuck every day and I'm tired of it, I love where I'm at satiety wise, but hate getting stuck. I'm still within my 2 years of fills, so I can always go back for more if need be if this unfill ends up not being good.
I hope all is well with everyone and we've got this and can do this!
Oh and Kim, you are a neighbor to me, I'm in Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, close to Cincinnati. I went to Dr. Curry for surgery.

Amazingly the pain was not as bad as I anticipated. The BA is the least of my issues. I would say the first few days I took pain meds around the clock. But by day 3-4 I started weaning myself, so maybe meds 3x a day (most definitely before bed). On occassion, I would wakeup just very aware of my incisions so I would take a small dose to get me back to sleep. But starting week 2 I was only taking pain meds before bed. And last night was the first night (day 13) that I went to bed without meds. I think I might still need 1 or 2 more days of meds. However, the incision that is requiring the nightly meds are my arms, not tummy nor breasts. I think when you lay on your side you just put enough pressure on the arm incisions it causes swelling/pain thus the discomfort. I can get by on the tummy incision (that reminds me of my previous c/sections) and the breasts have more of an ache than a pain (because they are actively dropping)-nothing pain med worthy.
Good luck (and I know, it is pricey!!!)

I forgot to answer your overhang q- are you talking about back rolls? I had a very tiny pinch as I am at (or darn near) goal weight. With all the cosm. surgery nothing overhangs in an obvious manner anymore anywhere. I need all the swelling to go down and the implants to drop to get a final idea of where I am at weight wise. But right now I feel perfectly comfortable at my current weight of 148

Linda that's not self absorbed at all, it's just nice when people notice and the sad thing is, is that some people will be jealous. I have a lady that used to seem to support me for the most part, but she has struggled in losing weight and now some of her statements don't seem too positive or supportive, but I just brush it off. I know what I want and what I had to do to get here and I can't inspire them all, you know? I did try too, but you can't go drinking alcohol all of the time, eat crap food all of the time, with the occasional grape or apple, and expect to lose weight. Believe me I did that for years and it did nothing.

I really like almond milk and I actually prefer the taste of Blue Diamond unsweetened vanilla to Silk unsweetened vanilla. A really good milk that can be more expensive is if you have a Kroger near you they have this newer carbmaster vanilla (make sure you get the vanilla if you like sweet) milk that is the most awesome stuff I have every had and it has 11 grams of Protein in 1-8 oz glass and it's low carb. It's so good in my Protein Shakes, but I have split it up between almond and the carbmaster milk so I don't overdo it on my protein numbers, I've been getting in 110 plus on protein each day and sure don't want any kidney stones. And the acne thing, I'm 35 and still get them, the doc just chucks it up to hormones, damn hormones .

Hey everyone, just out of curiosity, anyone kind of swaying a bit from their motivation? I'm amazed I've stuck to it this long, but it is probably due to still being consistent about getting on LBT and MFP everyday.

Yes, I made a tray of ice cubes with it. If you just freeze the whole bottle it'll be too big to crush in the blender.

2012 reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in Do people treat you differently?
    Yes. Dramatically so.
When I was over 200 pounds heavier, I was pretty much treated like a Leper. I'd get openly mocked in grocery stores, looked at with disdain in restaurants, and pretty much shunned by store clerks. I can't tell you how many times I was ignored when trying to get sales help.
Now, I can go into the same stores and restaurants and be treated like royalty. Sales people trip over themselves to help me (even when I don't need it). Men who would've likely let a door close in my face before now hit on me.
...and this all seriously pisses me off. I'm the same person, with the same personality, and the same worth as I was when I was 200 pounds heavier. The only difference is now my packaging is a bit different.
Fat discrimination is alive and well, trust me.

Check out Flat Out's, this is a more nutritional tortilla shell, higher Fiber and lower carbs. They can be found in the deli section at Kroger and Wal-Mart. I like the light Italian myself, I have only been stuck on it once, but it was user error and I was eating too fast and not chewing enough.
