  1. Ok...so I wound up getting sick from the monster Opurity multis, so I switched over to Flintstone completes with my dietician's blessing - just have to take 2. They said definitely no gummies - when I go back for my follow up I'll find out why. Liquid Wellesse calcium plus D, liquid Wellesse B-12 until I run out of it. It was a sample that has 60 doses in it. I might buy it again - it's really not bad at all.
  2. Congrats! Enjoy that well-deserved vacation!!!
  3. Hi All! From Norwalk, CT - had my surgery with Dr. Zuccala at Danbury Hospital. He and his staff are all awesome! IMHO - way better than the practice I started out with (won't mention names because someone here said they liked them - don't want to offend anyone). I'm just over a week post-op, and down about 19 lbs. since surgery. Doing great so far other than the initial struggles to get the liquids/protein in which is much better now. I also have been having some acid issues - but that was mainly due to me trying to eat the broth from some soup yesterday that turned out to be too spicy. Doc fixed that up right away yesterday with just another med. Glad to see other Nutmeggers here!
  4. If you like Oreos and milk - try the Syntrax Double Stuffed Cookie protein shake powder...tastes just like milk that you put Oreos in and let them disintegrate...
  5. I am a migraine sufferer, but fortunately I haven't had one since surgery. I have prescription meds for them that are part naproxen sodium (NSAID) and my doc said they would be okay because I'm also on Nexium, and I only take them once in a while - maybe every other month. You definitely want to talk to your doc sooner rather than later...don't want to have one hit and be unprepared.
  6. Boy...did I find that out the hard way today! I'm just over a week post-op, and still on all liquids. I was getting so tired of sweet stuff (shakes, jello, popsicles) and broth was just WAY too salty. I've never liked salt - but now I think I'm super sensitive to it. I talked to my dietician yesterday and asked if she thought I could strain the "stuff" out of my favorite Thai soup (Tom Kha Gai) and she said it should be okay. Wow. Not so much. I had probably one ounce of the stuff and talk about heartburn!! Wound up calling my doc because I'm already on Nexium - he had me take a Pepcid on top of it and said to call him tomorrow to let him know how it went. So today, I decided to make my own non-salty broth...have it in the crockpot right now. In the meantime, back to the sweet stuff. Anyone else have the same problem with the sweet/salty thing??
  7. My doc and dieticians have flat out said no gummies. I have been using Wellesse liquids - may be cheaper online.
  8. I use True Lemon, True Lime, and True Orange - adds flavor without any sweetness. Helps a lot! I'm getting sick of sweet stuff...
  9. Coffee is on my post-op diet as well, but I'd stick to milk instead of cream...
  10. Glad to know I'm not the only one sitting here under multiple blankets with layers on!!
  11. Good for you! You're showing the kind of commitment that will make you successful through the remainder of the journey!
  12. Pilates is amazing for all body parts - I used to work with a trainer just for Pilates and I was amazed at how strong I was! BTW - Just requested to join your FB group!
  13. I was told no fruit juice - check with your dietician...

  15. Sounds like you were just over full. From what I understand, dumping usually involves cold sweats, rapid heartbeat, and a few other unpleasantries...
  16. Cigna is a pain - but they covered mine 100%. They just make you jump through some hoops first. Definitely makes sure you're ready, and that you are committed to following through. I used to feel that way - that I could do it without surgery, that surgery was the "easy way out", and on and on and on. Finally after trying every diet there was, busting my butt working out, eating right (albeit too much), and not seeing the scale move, I finally decided I needed help. I am 37, and I didn't want to spend the rest of my life like this. I don't have any major health issues (diabetes, HBP, etc.) but I knew I was headed down that road if something didn't change. As previous posters have said, you can't make someone make a huge decision like this. The best you can do is be a good example - and maybe once she sees how much happier and healthier you are, she will change her mind. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
  17. I would definitely look for another doctor. My PCP has been nothing but supportive, as she has seen my struggles over the past 13 years. She sent me to an amazing surgeon (every referral has been top notch). I know it's rare to find someone that is so great and so trustworthy, but I really think everyone deserves that - especially from someplace like Mayo. There's no reason to put up with someone who is condescending or rude to you.
  18. Good luck! Sending positive vibes and healing thoughts in your direction!
