  1. Lucky partners! I'm 3 weeks out and not on the radar! If not for the hernia repairs maybe, but I feel like after my caesarean!
  2. I will friend u now, if u can add me pls June 26 Melbourne Australia
  3. Ive heard this a hundred times this week. I notice the grey bags under my eyes that I don't usually have. I notice I'm tired. I'm 3 weeks post op. sleeve, gallbladder and 2 hernias. No proper BM since surgery, mostly diahrea (sorry) I have a massive seroma over one of my hernia repairs (200mL or almost a cup drained last week and back again now) I make Protein a priority. I take multi chewable x2 I take Calcium. I don't yet take B12 or Iron. Appt with NUT tomorrow. Do I ask for bloods? Is this just normal, to be so tired, pale, bags? Any advice or ideas appreciated.
  4. Yes, I did let a freddo frog melt in my Mouth... Yes I did. Did I fall into a sugar hole, no. But that portion controlled little chocolate frog helped me immensely. I at first thought this is horrible. Ive had my stomach cut out and now I suck on chocolate. A week later and no further cravings. Now I think Maybe it was the right thing to Do. Time will tell.
  5. A friend of mine screamed when it was removed and scared the heck out of the nurse who didn't expect a response. Turns out she hadn't turned the knob that stops it being a vacuum... It was much better the second time she went to remove it! Mine was a weird sensation like removing stitches but not pain.
  6. June 26 in Australia... So June 25 in USA. I'm only weighing 1x per week. I'm not trying any clothes on that didn't fit pre op. I'm only concentrating on healing well. Protein in! Water in! Resting! (I had gallbladder out and 2 open surgery hernia repairs.) I have lost anyway. I figure as long as I heal properly I have the rest of my life to rock my sleeve!
  7. I'm only 3 weeks post op and not nearly ready for a drink but I had the same, I could have had an issue pre surgery or I could have been normal... I have decided post surgery I will not drink at home. 1 drink at a restaurant or a friends party is cool, but 1 glass of red every night (which I used to do 1-3 glasses most evenings) is too much calorie wise and I'm not slipping down that slope. I didn't know Wilson gained her weight back I don't watch tv much and don't read gossip mags.. Exercise is a great addiction! Love the endorphin rush!
  8. I've never had reflux (except twin pregnancy, more a space issue I think) and my surgeon said all sleeve patients go home on antacids. I'm on nexium. He said initially 4 months then will re evaluate.
  9. Ketosis? Can cause bad breath.
  10. Ketosis? Causes bad breath.
  11. Check at pharmacy for liquid iron, doesn't cause constipation. In Australia it's called spa tone, not sure about USA.
  12. I haven't told many, and won't tell everyone. But I am part of a weightloss group (I initiated it last year) and I did tell these ladies because like the above poster said, it's not fair to tell them I did it with will power, high Protein, low carbs, small portions and then not tell them I have an extra tool in my arsenal. How would they feel doing everything I do and struggling? How would our friendship go if they ever found out? So I told the whole group. I asked for their confidence until such a time I am ready to share with other ppl. It's not my friends I worry about telling, it's those ppl in my life I would rather not know but have to for whatever reason-- social or family ties. Judgmental, back bitey and female doggish...
  13. In life, do what you need. Let others do what they need. You need this, your husband supports you. Just do it. A big part of me deciding was that I want to do more with my life than diet and exercise, you NEED to concentrate on your child, not diet and exercise. The sleeve is a tool that if you just plan you can work the sleeve with minimal disruption to family life. I wanted to name my little boy Oliver. I told my mom while I was pregnant. She was so dead set against it and talked so negatively that I named him Riley Oliver. Sometimes we are better off telling ppl after its done, that way they hold their tongues.
  14. I think our bodies decide the natural range to float within. So I can set my goal to 130, but I may find that overwhelming to maintain. My goal is 140 but I think my body will naturally tend back to 150, I can't say I would be unhappy with that. The Bmi chart has never been friendly to my figure-- short, wide hips and muscles (not body builder muscles, but no problem building lean muscle) All of that to say, you continue eating healthy and exercising and let your body decide what healthy is. 150 is great and u look gorgeous!
  15. I'm 3 weeks out from surgery. Gallbladder and hernia repairs too, 4 surgeries in all. Hernia repairs were open surgery thru my caesarean scars. I'm not 'exercising' yet. (I LOVE exercise, so a bit disgruntled!) I want in! BUT I'm not setting a weight goal. My sleeve is new. I want to set a co sustency goal: 1- use mfp every day 2- drink 2L Water every day 3- keep Protein above 60 g per day I'm excited to see where consistently doing what I know works will get me over the next 46 days! HW 118 kilos-- 260 lbs SW 98 kilos-- 216 lbs CW 92 kilos-- 202 lbs I only weigh on Wednesday! (in australia-- aka Tuesday evening for u guys)
  16. Congratulations!!! You look gorgeous! And a little bubba to top it off! Yay!
  17. I had the same ops u r having except the liver biopsy. I accepted all pain med offered for the first week! Then only Tylenol during the day and targin over night. I have found as long as your are respectful of hospital staff, they take good care of you. I of course felt great day 6, came home and pushed the limits and have senomas over my hernia repairs, so back to resting for me. So my advice would be, even if u feel like doing stuff, don't. Just walk and smile. Sip sip sip..
  18. I watched. But like the PP, I like to look! Curiosity! I had wounds drained with a 6 inch 6 gauge needle via ultrasound, had to watch! Wish I had thought to ask my surgeon to video surgery!

I'm 5'3 and going for 140, wondering about maintaining that, would be happy at 150 I think.
  20. You had surgery same day as me. I have toddler twins. I had hernia repairs as well and have had complications, so mostly lying around. You are doing so well! Focus on recovery and put the scales away. This is a time to start listening to our bodies, you are tired 2 weeks out from major surgery, rest.
  21. So happy he is not having seizures and you are at home! Also pleased to hear you are going ahead with your liquid diet! A healthy fit mum is so important! Keep us updated on your journey
  22. Mine apparently will get better with time when my body gets accustomed to the bile storage facility being gone. Your body should be accustomed to no GB? So I think u should delve deeper. What are your options? I can't remember how the USA health stuff works. Can you see a specialist? Can you get extra testing? I don't know that the sleeve can cause IBS? Maybe testing for intolerance? My NUT says lots of ppl are lactose intolerant as milk proteins are difficult for a normal stomach to process, let alone after sleeve. Do you keep a food diary? Can u isolate when it's happening? As in after certain foods or certain times of day. I was having what I thought was dumping at 3 days post op, turns out I can't do regular milk based protein drinks like sustagen.
  23. I would say to a specialist? Ibs diagnosis post sleeve when no symptoms prior? I had my gallbladder out with sleeve and I am suffering with sudden onset fast bowel... Like no warning must toilet right now. Gurgling and pain in lower intestine, I think it is GB related. Don't give up on your sleeve, demand better answers.
