1st fill now have gas in shoulders
Everyone is different as we all know. My dr calls my lapband sensitive. I get the shoulder pain also. We have nerve endings that run across the top of our abdomen and lead to the left shoulder. That's why so may people get shoulder pain after surgery from the gas as well as after eating from pressure of the food. The pain will subside its just another side effect that some us will go through and many others won't.

Do any of you eat like this?
My surgeon told me to eat a lower card diet, protein first after about 6 weeks. He said to stay away from nuts because they can get stuck easily.

Constipation
My doctor said Miralax was a good choice, it's unflavored and you can take it every day. My daughter actually took it for 3 years when it was a prescription only. It's expensive, but sooo worth it.

Drinking With Meals
If you drink with your meal you are just flushing the food through the band and you will not get the feeling of fullness and this tool, the lap band, will not benefit you if you don't follow all the instructions. Don't get me wrong, I will stare at the clock for 30 minutes some days, somedays I go for a 30 minute walk then grab a cold drink. Or get on a computer and play a solitaire game, do some research, email a friend....right in your blog for 30 minutes.

Question...

Sharp Pain In Upper Lft Shoulder & Neck
I read somewhere that we have nerve endings across the top of our abdomen to the left shoulder, that is the reason we get the pain when over indulging....thought that was interesting.

Computer Is Fixed...back To My Menus. August 5, Todays Plan.
I was banded on July 16. I began posting my menus a few days ago so would be held accountable and for any feedback. I am still in the learning process, but I am constantly on the computer researching menu plans for lap band. I am a planner, without a plan....I eat a bag of chips. So far so good, I have followed the diet completely. Good luck, have a plan for the each day and know that this is possible!!

Sharp Pain In Upper Lft Shoulder & Neck
It is VERY common to have this pain after surgery. GasX will help relieve some of the symptoms, and keep walking. You were pumped full of air during surgery, this will take a few days or maybe a couple of weeks to subside. I was banded july 16, if I eat too much my left shoulder/neck immediately starts to hurt.

My Fitness Pal
I love my fitnespal. I adjust all of the goals to meet my doctors recommendations. Change your calorie intake in your profile. I haven't figured out how to adjust the protien, so I just ignore that part and make sure I am reaching my set goal. I love that you can scan barcodes and add food, it's such a great tool.

August 1...today Menu/exercise Plan
I was wondering about that. When I added everything up it didn't seem to be enough calories, but the protein was good. I worry about too much protein, I had a kidney disease and have to be careful with that. I do plan on adding some steamed veggies to the mix tomorrow and tonights dinner.

August Summer Challenge
I have only been on here for a month, I don't know anyof the questions. But I do have a few suggestions. Goal: to drink a minimum of 8 cups / 64 oz of Water (just water! tea, juices and other drinks do not count.) Use a 1/2 gallon pitcher and fill it every morning, when the pitcher is empty you are done. (refill and challenge yourself to drink more) Post Daily: Water intake Energy level Post Every Monday: Weight (don't weigh everyday, it will drive you crazy)

August Summer Challenge
Okay, someone post a challenge. How about: Water intake 64 oz. This seems to be difficult for a lot of people, me included. Excercise 30 minutes of brisk walking EVERY day. I know I have an excuse for why I can squeeze 30 minutes in, but I found walking in place is still excercise. Watch your favorite show and walk in place. I am only on week 3 of my banding, so I am not released to do any other excercise. But, I have been following a lot Blogs and the forums and notice that even those who have been banded for a while have stopped excercising or eating right. I am struggling with the soft foods because it opened a door where I could be tempted to overindulge, so if I have someone or a group that can hold me accountable...I am in.

Please feel free to comment your thoughts. This is new for me, but I am a planner. If I don't plan ahead I don't follow through.
