  1. I used to make specifically matched platelets donations before surgery. They called me to make a donation while I was on the preop diet and I thought I was still having the band. They told me it was a 2 month exclusion after the band and they can't wait until I'm feeling better and come back in. Not sure of the exclusion for the sleeve. I guess I'll find out when they call me next month.
  2. My surgeon told me at my 2 week visit that it was very irritated and put me on nexium tablets. I didn't have any symptoms, so was thankful for the "inside" info.
  3. I was sleeved 13th. I don't start soft food until next Monday.
  4. It really puts it into perspective. No wonder I could eat a family sized pizza on my own in one sitting. Thank goodness those days are gone.
  5. Started pre op diet at 96kg, had surgery at 86kg, am now 78kg. Total = 18kg, but only 8kg in the last 3.5 weeks.
  6. I was sleeved the day before you. I still can't get in all of my protein, water or vitamins on any 1 day. I found I was always hungry, the dr put me on nexium. Has helped tremendously. I had an acid stomach and was mistaking it for hunger. My biggest problem is the amount of food I now throw out. As someone who never had leftovers, I'm struggling when I make 1/2 cup of purée and only eat 2 tablespoons before feeling full.
  7. My surgeon was more interested in capacity rather than weight. This is 1 of 3 pictures he gave me post op. i love it!!!
  8. I had big padded dressings and the little tapes. I was trying to remove the big ones, but with all the dried blood they were stuck to the little tapes so I was pulling the whole lot off in one go.
  9. I ended up doing it lying on the bed with some zoff dressing remover. Felt light headed when I got up, but didn't hit the deck.
  10. I am living on my own with my 6year old daughter and 9 month old boxer puppy. I intentionally stopped taking the pain meds to give myself reason to slow down. If it hurt when I did something, I stopped doing it. If I had been up to the eyeballs with pain meds, I know I would have done a lot more than was safe at the time, but wouldn't have been aware as it wouldn't cause any pain. Am I making sense? I'm don't enjoy pain, or anything like that, I just like to be in touch with my body and be able to hear its objections. It's a good way to force yourself to rest and not do too much.
  11. Don't do what I did and have a month of "last meals" before you have to start your pre-op diet. I gorged myself on everything that was bad for me because I wouldn't be able to have it later so when it came time to start liquids, I had become so addicted to the bad stuff I was having really bad withdrawals. You can do it a few times, just not 3 times a day for a month.
  12. Love the profile pics. I wish I took a before one. You can see the most amazing difference. Well done.
  13. I decided to have surgery end of June, after never having contemplated it. Had appt with surgeon the next week who said he could do it in a fortnight. I had to give work 4 weeks notice for that much leave so had it early August. About 6 weeks from thought to surgery.
  14. I was sent home with pills that were smaller than an M&M but now at 2 weeks i can take a nexium whole, it's about the size of a peanut M&M
  15. Vsg was like a holiday compared to childbirth. 22hrs of labour, tear from one end to the other, child tearing the skin off your delicate nipples every 3 hrs, uterus contracting back into shape, mastitis.... Etc. Vsg I had 4 peaceful nights in hospital with no nurses waking me up in the middle of the night to feed, and no annoying visitors coming in and out all day forcing you to stay awake. Needless to say, if hubby wants more kids, next time it's his turn to carry and deliver it.
  16. 26lb or 12kg surgery 13th August.
  17. I had a small sundae from macdonalds today, no topping, and only ate about 3 of the tiny spoons worth of it. I wanted it, so I got it, I had enough to curb the craving, and stopped when I lost interest and didn't want any more. I do not feel guilty at all. Learning that want my head wants and what my tummy likes are now 2 different things.
  18. Found myself on the floor of the shower after trying to remove one of the dressings. My dr said to remove them today in the shower and I felt like I was going to vomit the whole time. Finally got 1 off, saw that there wasn't even a line where the incision was, was impressed, then woke up on the floor. I still have 4 to go. Any suggestions?
  19. He filled the stomach with saline, I wish I could have "blown it up" literally. So glad it's not in my anymore.
  20. Anybody pre sleeve should ask the surgeon. No harm in asking and they are pretty cool.
  21. It's the tube they put in as a guide for the shape of the new stomach. They staple close to it then cut away the old stomach.
  22. And I'm a low bmi. I was only 86kg at surgery. (multiply by 2.2 for lb)
