Happy Snaps From The Surgeon

Recommended Posts

My dr gave my 3 big a4 glossy prints of pictures he took while he was operating. The first was of my new stomach with the bougie still in, the second was of the part of my stomach he removed, that he had filled with saline to show me how big it was, and the third was of my new stomach all sewn nice and tight into its new home with surrounding tissue. He was really very proud as he was explaining them to me. I felt reassured that he took so much pride in his work that he wanted to share it with me.

I really liked the pics and have kept them. All the nurses had a look at them. Gave me a bit of an insight into how it all happens. It's not often I'm happy to have my photo taken, but these I didn't mind.

Anybody else got happy snaps after surgery?

That is cool! However, I am quite happy not to see mine. I think it would freak me out. Ignorance is BLISS!

Sorry for not knowing but what's a bougie?

It's the tube they put in as a guide for the shape of the new stomach. They staple close to it then cut away the old stomach.

What I can tell..... THANK YOU for posting these pictures. I never even thought that my stomach can be so big and I am sure my is bigger because I am 124kg :)

I wonder if I can ask my surgeon to get me pictures like that :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
