Wow...congrats to you both! AJ, the excitement in your comment takes me back to when I was preparing for my approval & surgery date! Best wishes to both!
  3. From what i've read on other forums, some folks with diabetes were able to reduce/stop their insulin. As for me, I have/had hypertension too...however, my doctor took me off my hbp meds even before I left the hospital. Try to keep a positive mind & outlook. Good luck to you on your surgery & journey.
  4. Can't go wrong with elastic waistbands or ones that tie (easy to adjust)!
  5. I have told very few. Didn't even tell my own siblings. Altho one coworker i thought I trusted spilled the beans to one of the biggest office gossipper! I mean, this girl broke it down and had people watching what i ate and my portion sizes. Jealousy is crazy....but Karma is a b**ch! I did damage control by denying my vsg (i hated that part, I did this for ME and I wanna be proud of what i did!). Altho I still hear the whispers behind my back, I no longer let it bother me so much. I can't stand the "haters"!! The less who know...the better!
  6. I wore skirts with elastic waists, paired with a shirt I wore on the outside as to disguise any swelling going on. I especially like wearing that "slinky" fabric skirts & tops. Also, I wore my waist binder for the first month....under my pants, skirts & loose tops!
  7. My doctor gave me a prescription to take my B-12 thru shots. Once a month...that's it! It only cost me $12 at Sam's Club pharmacy (this includes the syringes).....$12 total is for 12 months/doses of shots!
  8. 6 days in hospital for me....had severe pain, nausea & excess bleeding. Im grateful that I have a doctor who allowed me to to be pain free and tolerate liquids at my own pace. Each day she came in, we discussed my complications; as I started feeling so-so to better, she would ask if I was ready to go home and then inject her advice on staying another night. The person who was more anxious to leave was my hubby...he spent every night with me...on that uncomfortable cot the hospital provided!
  9. congrats on your willpower!
  10. omg...i had some movie popcorn tonite...paid for it dearly. Very nauseous! Won't do this again!
  11. SmartWater!! Only bottled water my tummy will tolerate. I was always a water drinker and could drink any bottled/tap water prior to surgery.....but after surgery, I got nauseated drinking water even if I mixed in crystal light. My daughter introduced me to SmartWater and I have been drinking it for months! Nice, clear, crisp tasting water. So good I can drink it at room temperature. Costco sells it cheap ($10.00 case)
  12. Hi Belinda, I gained 10 lbs after surgery and it took me 2-3 wks to get that off. Shortly thereafter, the weight started melting off. That is until my 6 month stall that lasted 10 weeks. I was beginning to get depressed until I started reading the forums. I learned several things: 1) don't compare yourself to others cause everybody is different; 2) you wouldn't be where you are without wls; 3) stalls happen. there are others but they only pertain to my situation. So hang in there. Lizzybean....hang in there too! Everyone has gone thru depression at one or more points on their journey. This too shall pass. At least you recognize your problem and getting help for it. I'll keep you in my prayers. And remember...you have plenty of friends to talk to on these forums.
  13. Prior to surgery, I had decided to tell as least amount of people as possible. My hubby, daughter, 2 very close girlfriends and 2 coworkers knew. Well, one of the coworkers blabbed my secret (altho i continued to deny it and said I had hernia surgery) but I started hearing all kinds of negative comments about wls and how people shouldnt have it, etc. The reason I didnt tell any of my siblings is becuz I didnt want to be watched & criticized on how much I put on my plate or "are you suppose to eat that", etc. I was told in one of the group meetings prior to surgery, that you should only surround yourself with positive & supportive people who want to be on this journey with you. So that was when I decided who to tell/not tell. Hang in there!
  14. I had a full container of greek yogurt for the first time last week. I had tasted it before, but it was way too sour for me. Then I read on a forum about adding artificial sweetner so I decided to give that a try. I used a packet of Equal.......way tooooo sweet! I broke out into a sweat altho I was sitting in front of my fan! The next time I ate yogurt, I used Splenda...added a lil at a time (turned out to be the whole pkt) but I had no after effects. Now I am eating yogurt as my "in-between meals" snack. Sorry you had problems. Also read somewhere how our tastebuds change after surgery and for some people, anything sweet can taste 10x sweeter for us sleevers. Maybe that is what you are experiencing? Best of luck to ya!
  15. You look great! Have a great Vegas vacay!
