  1. Requests were sent. MFP is really the best way to track in my opinion.
  2. I didn't even know that test existed. It's something I really want to look into. Thanks for the info.
  3. I know 2 people who have been very successful with RNY. Originally that was the procedure that I was interested in. Once I serious and started my research it seemed to me that the sleeve would do all the same things, all be it a little slower than the RNY, without some of the side effects that both my friends went through. The biggest negative about the sleeve was a lack of long term data. It was 5 years vs. 15 for the RNY. That really didn't scare me and it didn't seem as big a deal as the malabsorption, dumping, gall bladder and other issues that the people I knew went through. However, if for some reason I had been unable to have the sleeve I would have done the RNY. Doing nothing is a lot riskier in my opinion.
  4. It can take a little while for your body to get used to the decrease in calories. Don't worry because your body will get used to it and then you will be able to exercise. No reason to push it though. It's not a race. When you feel up to it you will start your exercise program.
  5. You're on a diet like half the population seems to be. Tell them that if they ask and no one will question it.
  6. I started eating salads 2 weeks out. I always eat the protein, tuna or grilled chicken, before I start the salad. You don't want to get full before you get your protein in.
  7. Quinoa is great. I've had no problem with it but it still comes 3rd after protein and vegetables. For that reason I try to make small quantities.
  8. My workout routine is 40 minutes on the elliptical 6 days a week Kettlebells for strength training 3 days a week Yoga for 30 minutes every day. When the weather cooperates I will use the elliptical less and mountain bike or road bike more. This winter has been tough though. I had my procedure 11/1 and don't want to invest in bike clothes that will be useless next winter. I've been doing a lot less biking and a lot more elliptical than in past years because of it.
  9. Sounds great! Enjoy and come back with updates on how it's going.
  10. I agree with TheGamer. The brand has a lot to do with the taste. Greek yogurt is a hot item. Everyone has jumped in because the want the sales but just because you can make yogurt doesn't mean you can make Greek yogurt. I also like the Fage, as well as the Chobani and Trader Joes house brand. I add some stevia to it which tastes a lot better than those artificial sweeteners. Since I'm post op I put in a little fresh fruit as well but I didn't do that pre-op.
  11. If you haven't lost anymore weight by the time you are 6 months out and you follow the program then you can call it a scam. You have to at least give it the 6 month try.
  12. Try grilled fish. You get some nice crust and flavor that you won't get in the oven. Cod won't work but many meaty dish will.
  13. Saute on high heat. Add in a little orange zest and juice at the end. Whatever you do don't overcook them. You are looking for a nice sear without being cooked through. Enjoy
  14. Stunning pics. You are the poster boy for the sleeve
  15. What's important is to follow the instructions that you are given. Different surgeons do things differently. When you commit to one you are also committing to that program. if you don't like the way they do things you should chose a different surgeon. My surgeon had me on a liquid diet post-op for 1 day. That's not the usual experience but that's what he believed and it worked for me.
  16. My cardiologist still has me on a low dose aspirin a day and my surgeon is okay with it. It's not ideal but sometimes you need to weight one ailment against another. Since you're worried you should give your doctor a call and listen to what they tell you.
  17. You have to be real careful when it comes to slider foods. Those are foods that turn to mush in your mouth before you swallow them. They are usually carbs like chips, cake, Cookies, ice cream etc....You are not going to get that full feeling from those foods, in other words restriction, and you'll be able to keep eating and eating. Lots of great advice on this thread. Keep a diary, My Fitness Pal is great for that. Go back to the diet plan your doctor or nutritionist gave you. Stick to it. By tracking your food you'll know if you're not sticking to your diet. If you need support there's plenty of it on this board.
  18. I was only on full liquids for 1 day. My surgeon doesn't think it necessary. I had no problems eating soft foods by day 2 and then regular food on day 14.
  19. I had surgery 11/1/12. I have just 1 diabetes medicine left and that's Victoza. I'm taking 1/4 the dose I was pre-op. Metformin, glipizide, Januvia and everything else is all gone. Can't wait until the Victoza follows it.
  20. I was back in a week to an office/desk job. It really depends on the person. Make sure you plan your food and drink so you don't have to worry about it and can focus on work.
  21. Most white fish breaks down when you bake it. Get some cod and bake it with lemon juice and dill. Mash it up with a fork and you have one of the healthiest soft proteins around.
  22. Now that you know what it is it's time to do something about it. Stop. Plan a menu the night before. Write down everything you are going to eat and eat only that. The sleeve is just a tool. It's not a cure. You have to get your head right for it to work. Search around this board and you will find that many others had the same issues and got through them. Support is here for anyone who needs it. Good luck
  23. What you need is MyFitnessPal. It works with pretty much every smart phone, tablet and computer. You can find a long list on names from a sticky in the exercise forum on this board. Start adding friends and track your food and exercise. You will find thousands of others doing the same and willing to help. My MFP name is gotaleed if you want to add me.
  24. There are some on every forum but this is one of the best I've been to. Most really want to help and have a variety of experiences to use for that help.
