  1. How are well all doing today? I am feeling good both physically and emotionally. Surgery is so close that I can almost taste it! :hungry: Yeah pun intended!!!
  2. You too Heather! Where are you being banded? I am with TLBC in Toronto, but having the actual surgery at Scarborough Grace Hospital due to being insulin dependant. (They take no chances with that one)
  3. Hey Donna D! Glad to see you are up and around and all went well. Be good to yourself, walk around alot and take care. Susan
  4. As you all know by now (from my incessant complaining), I am having my surgery done in the hospital. Since it is not covered by OHIP, I had to pay the hospital directly for their portion which was 8,715.00. That is a big chunk of the 16K. My private insurance is paying for the room. Because I don't know anything about Dt. coburn clinic, I can just say that TLBC provides great before and after care, servies, seminars etc. and you never have to pay a cent more. Sounds like a good deal to me!
  5. Doddie - YOU are very reassuring. Thanks for sharing your experiences you are a great support. Jurema - We are dashing towards that finish line - almost there - me, you and all the May4ths!!
  6. YOU are very reassuring Doddie! Thank you. I am feeling much better today, no cheats last night and charging toward the finish line!
  7. Congratulations on your band. I am no customs agent but it seems to me like you ourchased services - not goods and there is no tax on services. My humble opinion only
  8. Hi Cat. It is great that we can have a little tantrum on here and chances are someone will have gone through the same thing. Tonight for "dinner" I threw some ice cubes into the magic bullet followed by some yogurt and a dash of skim milk and had a smoothie. It went down much easier and I am full now. Hang in there Cat. We will ge through this!
  9. Hi Donna D. It's 2:44 and you are probably in recovery at this moment. I hope all went well and that you can tell us all about when you are able. Thinking of you, Susan
  10. Not stupid at all! Totally normal. We all feel like that.
  11. RG - it's funny how we think people are always looking at us and noticing everything we do! Not at all the case. I feel for you that they are going to subway since you are craving a sub. Hang in there with all of us!
  12. Slackaction - that's good. I ended up having a cheat last night, but since I started a week earlier than I neede to, I am not worried about it. I am so sick of cottage cheese and yogurt that I have no desire to eat at all! 4 more days of this and then I go Clear liquids for the day before surgery. I Can heardly wait.
  13. I was able to get a letter from my Doc that I required 1 week post op recovery after surgery on May 2, 2007. He did not state what kind and by Canadian law did not have to. My employer tracks sick time but there is no finite number of days, so I don't have to worry.
  14. With less than an week away until my surgery I am feeling almost over wrought with emotion. Probably making my will at this time is not helping, but that is something I had put off for too long. Last night I had a cheat on my pre op. It is of no consequence what I ate, but I really made the choice to eat it. I felt entitled because I had started the diet a week earlier than I needed to. I am back on this morning and don't feel like I have compromised my surgery in any way. I am so sick of yougurt and cottage cheese that I would rather not eat at all. This morning I had a good cry with DH before I left for work. HAd to tell my daughter my eyes were red because of a sad part of the book I was reading. I really don't want to alarm her or think I am scared because she will be scared as a result. Hope I start to feel better soon.
  15. My pre op diet is 0% fat yogurt, 1% cottage cheese and skim milk. As much as I need to have. I can also have coffee, tea, SF Jello. That;s about it. I have been on it for 1 1/2 weeks and there have been some days that have been really tough. I have been able to work through them without cheating (going to be early a lot), so I feel good about that. I can make it and you can too! What's your pre op and how long?
  16. Thanks! You too. Did you wait long?
  17. It felt like this time would never come! I am so excited an can hardly wait. I have been on a preop diet of yogurt and cottage cheese for 1 1/2 weeks already and I am so sick of the stuff, I almost prefer not to eat at all! This forum has been so great in helping me decide and prepare for this life changing moment. I look forward to the time when I am on the other side and I can give the same type of support and encouragement that I have received.
  18. That makes sense Andrew. Yeah my liver is sounding like the Wicked Witch of the West (I'm melting.....)
  19. Hmmm..Something strange. I have not lost any weight for a couple of days. I have stuck to this CC&Y diet like glue so I am a little disappointed. I know it's not for this reason but still....The first week I lost 14 lbs. I wonder if my body is in "starvation" mode? Any guesses anyone?
  20. Donna - you can eat all those things after but the difference will be that you will feel SATISIFIED after just a few bites - you wont have to eat the whole thing! That is how I am looking at it. My DH promised to share a kit kat blizzard with me this summer. I will enjoy it immensely, but will not have to have it all.
  21. Donna D - how did you like the seminar? Who did you meet from this board?
  22. So I got over yesterday's hellish day. Not fun at all. I did take people's advice and did et more towards the end of the day and I think that helped. Trying to eat more today. Last night I was fantasizing about a fresh roll and butter. I was watching tv with Lily and I could see myself going to get that roll, getting out the Becel, slathering it on and taking a big bite. That was a HUGE struggle. I had to keep telling myself that this is not a fad diet I am on, it is for my health and to ensure the surgery will go well. I am proud to say that I did not eat it and after waking up this morning, my resolve was strenghtened. I am so glad. Can't stop thinking about LL's friend who died from a massive heart attack before getting WLS. I keep thinking it could be me. I am grateful that I am able to have this surgery. No more MORBIDLY obese for me.
  23. Mr. Yoda, With 9 Y&CC days under my belt, I can tell you that it DOES get easier. What I did was weigh myself everyday and the first couple of days I kep losing 3 lbs a day - so that helps to motivate. Also, think of the consequences of not doing the diet - the chance that they might delay or cancel your surgery. I know you don't want that. You can do it!!! How many more sleeps?
  24. Both of the centres in Toronto offer credit as well through a 3rd party. If you don't get a positive response from the bank, you might look into that. Good luck. Susan
  25. Hope you slept well LL. I love reading your blog right here. If you do decide yo get another space for one, please give us the address so we can read. I have a little Japanese Spaniel named Kayko. She too is very sensitive to the cold and therefore has to wear a little coat in the winter (Pink wool with leather toggles and patch pockets....but I digress). I am glad you are feeling better about your friend. Loss is always hard and it takes some time to heal. Loss is not hard when it's your weight and another 1.8 lbs is great!! What will happen when you start the Optifast??? Have a wonderful day.
