  1. It certainly does sound interesting and I am impressed with you both in the service you give to others. Hope you see him soon.
  2. Welcome Back! Glad that all went well.
  3. Had my first decent walk today in a long time. I little over an hour, but at a slower pace because Kayko the curious has to stop all the time. I feel good about it though - I am on my way.
  4. Okay this is WEIRD! I am not having any trouble drinking, but I have that hair thing in my throat! I thought it was fur because my dog and cat are shedding, but now I am beginning to wonder.....
  5. Welcome! This IS a great group and congratulations.
  6. Welcome! We are a very supportive group - so jump right in. Let us know your progress.
  7. I thought I would start a thread for those of us (and we are many) who are currently on post op diets - which ever stage; Clear liquids, full fluids or mushies. Many of us have been unsure about some of what constitutes a full Fluid, or the recommended potion sizes. I am sure we can all use some support from each other to get through this. Also, I glady invite the "old timers" to post; giving their knowledge and wisdom as well as those to be banded, who want a greater understanding of what's to come. Today I ate: Breakfast - 3/4 C Protein shake with 2 scoops Protein powder lunch - 3/4 c. cream of broccoli Soup Afternoon snack: 1/4 c. low fat soft serve frozen yogurt Dinner: 1/4 C. veggie juice, 1/2 c. cream of broccoli soup (I forgot the protein poiwder, darn)!
  8. Try to stick to the portion sizes. Maral told me that and it is for healing purposes. It's only a few more weeks and we can do it!
  9. OMG!!! Rob look how much weight you have lost already!!! How are you doing on the post op diet?
  10. Hi LL, You are certainly getting close now! How exciting for you! What does your DH do? Do you get to see him often? Where is africa is he? Sorry, I am a very curious person! Please feel free to say MYOB!
  11. Welcome Soonsunny! Am I allowed to be jealous that you are on pureed foods!
  12. You can do it Rosiejan! We all have gone through some preop diet or another and although it is not easy it is very important to your surgeon's ability to give you a safe and effective operation. Stick to it - think about your health and you will be fine! Good luck!
  13. That was the clinic I went to. I love Dr. Yau and the suuport from the staff has been great so far. The other clinic is in Mississauga. Drs. Coburn and Mumford. I did not chooses that one because I live downtown and wanted something more convenient. Perhaps that is a consideration for you as well. Good luck
  14. I woke up with a new resolve today. I am drinking tons of water to help with the hunger and ignoring them as much as possible. I keep telling myself that it is necessary for healing and that it is only 6 weeks, not my entire life! I also decided that I would look at this as a short term "diet" and use this time to begin an exercise program toward a goal. I am thinking about starting a new hobby (or rather taking up an old one again). I am hoping that keeping as busy as possible will help. If you are feeling better how about some light spring cleaning? We are in this together and need to come together for support. I am here for you as you are for me. Feel free to PM me if you'd rather.
  15. I disagree. I would use an much softer and perhaps more effective approach. I would call and explain the insurance situation calmly and then tell them that besides that, you are fearful of having a stroke or heart attack before you even get to see the doctor. A little tears, a few pleadings might help. You could even say that you are very committed to this surgeon and don't want to have to look elsewhere (rather than accusing them of not caring about their patients). Can you tell I'm Canadian! Good luck!
  16. Yes Donna - it may be too much - call Maral at the clinic.
  17. I would speak to Maral about it - she is really nice and will give you the proper advice. She explained to me that it is about healing and not damaging your band or stomach by not making your stomach work too much.
  18. Well then we have to start a genetically large stomach group! :heh:
  19. Thanks for your words of encouragement Yoda. Send me your bill for therapy! LOL! I do feel better this morning. I think it was the shock at learning all that I was doing wrong. I will stick to these portions, I will add Protein powder to everything, I will drink lots and lots of Water and I will be strong. You guys did it and I can do it too!!
  20. I just found out that for the past 2 days I have been "eating" way too much. For some strange reason I thought that the 1/2 c of this and 1/4 c of that were just to start you off slowly. I didn't realize that is the actual portion sizes that you must stick to. Now I am worried. Perhaps I did some damage to my band or my pouch. Also, I am feeling "deprived" now, knowing that of the fluids I CAN eat, i CAN'T eat very much at all. I know I will be hungry! I bought some Beneprotein today to add to everything, but how do you add beneprotein to 1/4 C of Protein shake???? This is the first time since I started the pre-op that I am frightened of cheating myself. I need to really get my head around these quantities and feel satisfied with my portions. Any suggestions?
  21. How many carbs in the the Unjury? This is about 30 grm per 250 ml. The carbs are slow acting for diabetics.
  22. You are right about the portions Yoda - I thought that was if you can ONLY eat that much. What a dummy I am! I better be careful because the thought of gaining weight right now is stressing me out! The last time I worked out regularly was about a year ago! I will start again, but just walking outside or on the treadmill.
  23. I am 1 week and 1 day out from surgery and on full fluids. Yesterday was my first hungry day and I ate (drank?) more than I have in a while. This morning the scale was up about a pound. I have been eating cream Soups for lunch and dinner and I know that they are high in fat. Should I be concerned about this at this point? Should I start a regular exercise regime now? I am really worried about gaining any weight that I have already lost. Very anxious about it as a matter of fact. Today for lunch I had small bowl of cream of broccolli Soup with a scoop of Protein powder. I was still hungry so I then had a Protein shake. Is it normal to eat this much? It seems like suddenly from having trouble eating a 1/2 container of Jello, I can now eat a full can of soup! Any thoughts or suggestions would REALLY be appreciated.
  24. Very interesting Cat. Now, 2 years later, I would love to see the comparisons of the AGB to the other bariatric surgeries for weight loss and weight maintenance.
  25. Well I just mailed my registration cheque. I will still be on mushies, but they have lots of soups
