It's a miracle really, how you don't even WANT some of the things that you used to.
If I want a bite of a "goodie." rarely- I have it. If it's a goodie that I used to gorge on- I don't even want it...I'm afraid to let those little things sneak in.
Do I like the idea of a big cheesesteak on a huge roll with cheese fries- yes.
But I'm free from really obsessing about it. The roll could be scooped out and
I could have a fry or two- if I wanted. Someday. But I choose to maximize this ultimate losing time in the first year by making better choices. Honestly we can't eat all that much and have this amazing satisfaction from the little amount.
Funny story. I was in Trader Joe's and they had a medicine sample cup of a fancy shrimp dish. Haha-Dinner! It's pretty awesome to fill up on hardly anything but also get the delicious taste and not feel deprived. I'm happy.
I was talking to this person who happens to be a WW coach yesterday and he asked how I handle the cravings with such little food and I'm like..you don't have them because you're free from that constant hunger/want for food-- the ghrelin- appetite/hunger hormone, is gone.
So strange how life is now...

Your reminder was very helpful. Quantity wise I can't eat much but I was eating outside of the range of food - mainly for dinner and to try to get my Protein in. I have tried to eat what I made for my family - even if it was 1 oz of meat, mushy veggies or part of a lasagna cupcake. I think I will back off and let things heal more. I felt so good I guess I lost sight of that. Thanks!

You won't feel or remember anything from the actual surgery. When you wake up in recovery, you will probably be very disoriented and uncomfortable, but they will give you pain medication as soon as they see that you are lucid. There will be times that you feel very sore, have twangs of pain, feel uncomfortable. Walking the halls, moving around, sitting up, and requesting pain medication as you need it will be your first day and perhaps second day. This is not an outpatient surgery. Is it terrible or unbearable? No.

I was talking to my hubby tonight about the way you can forget after the pain is long gone and how my original pain (no biggie for me- much unlike you) is just a distant memory...
so Ja, you think you're getting closer now to not regretting?

I've cooked a lean burger w/cheese a few times. Once I had it with the bottom bun but found I'd rather eat the whole (small) burger...so I skip the bread.< /p>
I'm 10 weeks so it IS going to be okay.
Also, I'll take one fry or whatever from people and it satisfies me and makes me happy. I hardly do it, but one taste makes you feel like you aren't going to live a life of total sacrifice.

Hey....i was exactly the same pre op...i stayed u all night looking up possible complications and getting scared....but then i just compared the odds of complications with WLS to the obesity related complications...hypertension,diabetes,osteoarthritis, i already had pcos... Recently a 25 year old obese friend of mine suffered a heart attack which was nearly fatal.... Well that made my decision more firm...
Ps: stop psyching yourself out....everythings going to be great...dont worry!

Those Vitamins were the only thing that made me throw up and my surgery was July 16th.
I take CVS children's chewable multi's. They're animal shaped. My PA looked at the ingredients and said they were good. I also take a sublingual B12, Calcium and D.

I usually walk it off...most football coaches carry mustard packages to the football games. When a player gets a cramp, they squirt it in their mouth , it shocks the body and causes the muscles to relax . I haven't tried it myself.
Also a hot Water bottle helps or heating pad.

I guess you already know what to do when the cramp hits, but just in case:
-Stretch the muscle by straightening the leg and flex your foot upward.
-Massage the muscle to relax it and apply a cold pack to reduce the blood flow and relax the muscle. Another good cure for a muscle cramp is to take a hot bath or use a heating pad for relief.
-In addition, here are some practical ways to prevent muscle cramps.
As far as long term solution:
-Stretch before exercise. I would say stretch in the morning before work. We are carrying lots of extra weight on our legs, our muscles work extra hard to support our body. for us a regular day at work is like an excercise for a normal weight person.
-Moderate training - easy on you workout! Also, try to sit down during your workday and stretch stretch stretch
-stay hydrated! Drink plenty of Water.< /p>
-Obviously, if cramps become a persistent and recurring problem, you should immediately go to be evaluated by your doctor. "Many times, electrolyte imbalances in the body can cause cramping so your physician may want to take some blood to analyze that the levels of potassium and other electrolytes are normal. There are also multiple muscle-relaxing medications that can be prescribed if the muscle cramping is a chronic problem, particularly at night."

Yep, I was never a wide until the last couple years as I gained weight. Looking forward to nice high shaft boots- although doing ballet as a child my calves are still over developed so it would be amazing to wear tall boots. We shall see.
I'm grateful today. Things get better all the time!

Good thing....I reached 40 pounds lost this morning!! Yay!!
However, all I can say is, DON'T GET CONSTIPATED. Whatever you do. Figure out how to get enough Fiber, Water, etc. I had the most horrific morning-- I thought I was going to break blood vessels in my head...(sorry if TMI- but it's part of life right?)
Also, how's this for a coincidence- or is it? I had a horrible charley horse in the middle of the night- and unlike previous ones long ago, it was up to my thigh (calf and thigh!! yikes).
Those were my biggest fear with the surgery. I remember ANY time I had lost lots of weight -so it's not related to surgery- but fast weight loss and more Protein. Obviously I need to up pottasium I guess (for cramps), Water, and stool softener.
What a last few hours!! Shwew!

I had my surgery the day before you, lost about the same as you and I feel like
it's a nice amount of weight lost. I stalled for a couple weeks, ate a little more carbs/calories and voila! the scale moved-- but that's controversial and my opinion only.
If you're doing the Protein, Water and whatever else the doctor said to you you can only go down.
