  1. Welcome to my world... I had surgery on 5/25, Ive lost a total of 25lbs. I gained about 3 when I started solids, but my surgeon didn't feel that I needed a fill since I did lose 4lbs. Went on vacation and gained 3, but since then I have lost about 6. Next visit is scheduled for Monday... thinking I may need a fill. I get full pretty quick, but I get hungry in 3hrs. Still working out and making smart food choices, guess it's all about patience now... Stay strong, we will make it through this!!!

  2. Hello... I was banded 5/25. I too had a hiatal hernia and it took at least 7 or 8 days before I had an appetite. Today was my second dr. visit and I didn't need a fill. So far things are going great. Eating without any trouble at all. I haven't tried any tough meats like ribs or steak, just ground beef, turkey, chicken and fish. I hope all continues to go well with you... Stay Strong!!

  3. We decided not to go out until I could eat solids. My nutritionist gave me a cute a little plate to take with me when eating out... it really helps to keep my portion size right.. She also suggested that I use a calorie counter website to help.. (MyFitnessPal.com) this has been a real help. all I have to do is put in the name of the food and it calculates the calories... We plan to go out again this weekend and we are going on vacation to Tunica, MS and Memphis, TN next week... Can't wait!!!

    • Don't worry... I think we all have had that same feeling.. I know I did..had surgery on 5/25 and everything went fine.. recovery was ok.. getting used to your new eating habits will be the only adjustment... stay strong and remeber that your not alone...

  4. My surgery was on May 25th... I love grits, mashed potatoes and jello pudding.... yummy... I am also going to puree some progresso soup.... feeling much better than I did last week... still getting full really fast and I cough at night... band might need to be loosened.... don't think I will need a fill on my next visit...

  5. Remember this is Your journey... people are going to have something to say no matter what the situation. I regret telling the few people that I did.. there is someone on my campus who had the same WLS and she has basically given up... but for the most part, people are very supportive...of course you have the debbi downer's... those that say that I really didn't need to have surgery... I even had someone to tell me that I was going to look like a crack head... lol Don't get discouraged... stay strong!!! remember this is not a quick fix..it's a life style change that's going to take some time...

  6. I carry a bottle of water and powerade-zero with me all day... taking sips throughout the day... i have had some pressure in my chest, but it usually goes away if i take a short walk around my building at work... the burning near the port site is not as bad but it itches sometimes... when is your next dr. visit?

  7. I'm 7 days post op... still on liquid diet but i can have cream soups now... i started noticing that the broth from the soup wasn't doing me any justice... ten minutes afterwards, i was starving... yesterday i started eating cream soups that i diluted with chicken stock and water... had a baked potatoe soup thinned and strained... it seemed to have done the trick... been full all day... waiting to drink has also helped... hope things get better for you... hang in there!!

  8. Same thing here...7 days post op... it feels like my skin is tearing.... i noticed a small bruise around the large scar and that's where the burning and pulling is... no oozing or bleeding... thinking it has something to do with the placing of the port... it's starting to feel a little less intense... only hurts whenever i bend or turn over in bed...

  9. thanks....its getting better. today was my first day outside of the house. i went to a local store and walked around before picking up my daughter from work... she works at McDonalds. missing those dang fries, but im hanging in there. so sick of these liquids... can't wait to have something else. next week i have my first post op dr. visit. then its on to mushies... so wanting something with texture. the gas is not as bad... starting to get hungry but i don't really feel like eating but i know that i have to stay on track..

  10. On day 7 of my liquid diet... I still have one protein shake for breakfast and two slimfast shakes in the afternoon. I was able to add a small salad starting last Sunday...I agree with the TV thing... looking at all of the adds just seems to make you crave things that you don't even really like... Cooking for my family was a challenge in the beginning but I just make sure that I am not hungry while cooking. We still eat together, I just have a salad... I did cheat on Mothers Day... I had one shrimp scampi... the guilt was just too much... ugh.. Hubby tried to force some of his catfish on me last night.... lol... just kept on eating my salad and shaking my head... just remember to keep your goal in mind...

  11. I know how you feel... I actually had a young teacher ... size 5 to tell me that all I needed to do was to come out jogging with her... That may work for some, but I need more. Since then, I have decided to let only a select number of people in on my plan for weight loss... There is no 1 size fits all diet... You have to do what's best for you... Hang in there!!!
