Sleeved On Monday
Congrats on your weight loss journey. It is the best decision I've made in a long time.

Soup
I bought won ton soup from a Chinese take-out and strained it so at least the broth I was drinking tasted good. Some of the canned varieties from the store taste awful. I also blended and strained bean soups, wedding soup, minestrone soup. You may have to add broth to make them thin enough.

The Drain Tube
I had a drain tube for 3 days while I was still in the hospital. It didn't hurt, but looked kinda gross because what drained out looked like watery blood. There was no pain involved though & when it was removed it felt like I had "roller coaster" stomach for a second.

Day 5 ....splenda?
They gave me Sweet & Low while I was in the hospital & I have been using Splenda at home. I haven't had any problems with it & it tastes great!

Sleeved This Past Monday-Home Terrified Today
I also had back pain at first. I think it was because I was trying to favor my incisions so I was walking hunched over. I feel better everyday & hope you do too. Try sipping warm liquids, a good cup of tea makes me feel the best.

Pain Meds
I was prescribed demerol pills that I crushed up and mixed with a bit of fluid. It tasted terrible though, but did the trick when I needed it.

Protein Shakes - Help!
I mostly drank Muscle Milk but also really liked some that I bought at Trader Joe's. It had 35 grams of protein & tasted like chocolate milk to me. It comes in a can but I can't remember the name.

Can Someone Share Their Soft Texture Diet?
Make sure you are eating slowly, even liquids. I haven't had any trouble with nausea or vomiting but I am very careful to eat only what the surgeon recommended (still on thick puree) and not to take more than 30 minutes to eat. I know everyone is different & wish you luck. The more days that go by, the better I feel & I hope you do too.

Back In Hospital
I had good luck with sipping hot tea with splenda & sugarfree popcicles to stay hydrated. Good luck & I hope you recover quickly.

Scared, Only 4 Days Out Of Surgery
You will feel much better soon, I promise. I am almost 4 weeks post op and I have dropped 4 jeans sizes, feel better than I have in years and am eating "applesauce consistency" foods per my surgeon's instructions. This has included potato soup, black bean soup topped with fat free sour cream & guacamole, and other foods I enjoy. Don't be depressed, look at this time as your golden moment to lose the most weight in the quickest amount of time. These feelings are temporary & before you know it you will feel more like yourself, just thinner!

Spicy Food!
I am only just over 2 weeks post-op & have no problem eating spicy food (even though I am still on liquids). I had spicy Latin black bean soup & even spruced up some won ton soup broth with the spicy mustard with no issues. I am sure it is different for some people but so far so good here.

2 Weeks Post-Op & Feeling Great!
I had my surgery on June 5th & had my 2 week post-op dr. visit yesterday. I have lost 25 lbs so far, I almost cried when I found out because I was so happy. I don't have a scale at home so the number was a total surprise. Other than some pain at the incision sites, I have had no other issues. I totally expected to feel nausea or feel tired but none of that has happened. This was the best thing I ever did for myself. I am doing lots of walking, so off I go for another walk!

Who Else Is On 2 Week Liquid Diet
I am still on full liquids until tomorrow. Then I progress to "pancake batter" consistency foods for 3 days. I have been enjoying soups from Trader Joe's such as the Latin black bean soup which is smooth with no lumps. It actually feels like I am having real food. They have other soups too (these are sold in a pourable carton). I have also gotten won ton soup & wedding soup (both strained) so I could have broth that tastes good. Sugar free popcicles are also very refreshing to me.

It's Not Goal But I Sure Feel Successful!
Congrats, I would love to weigh 140! Your successes are an inspiration to all of us who are in the early part of our weight loss journey.

Done.
Good luck! I am 14 days post op & it was the best decision I ever made. I feel great & am showing results already.

How Long Were You Out Of Work
I am being sleeved on June 5th & my surgeon says I will be off work for 6 weeks. Luckily, I qualify for short-term disability from work so I will be paid during my time off. I am looking forward to being off for most of the summer. I am surprised at how many people go back to work much sooner. My paperwork that the surgeon filled out simply said "major abdominal surgery" so anyone that reads it wouldn't really know the exact surgery I am getting. I have already had my gall bladder removed & was off for over 2 weeks for that so you could use that as an excuse if you want to be discreet at work & it would be believable.

10 Days Away From Surgery Date June 5Th!
Thanks for adding me to the June sleevers section & good luck to you on your surgery as well. I don't have to do a liquid diet pre-op except for the day before surgery. I love to drink pop so it will definitely be an adjustment going without it (I love the carbonation). I know I will love having a new healthy body better than any pop or food so I am very excited about making this positive change in my life.

New Here! I Was "sleeved" On 5/9/12.
I am so glad to hear how well you are doing. My surgery date is fast approaching & your words are very encouraging!

10 Days Away From Surgery Date June 5Th!
I had my pre-admission testing completed on Monday. I got a little freaked out when they told me the inside of my stomach will most likely be so swollen after surgery that it will be the size of a coffee stirrer & even a strawberry seed could be a major problem if swallowed. Other than that I am excited and ready. Is anyone else having their surgery in early June?

What Foods Should I Eat One Last Time B4 Surgery?
I'm thinking some bagels from Panera are in order! I love asparagus & I bet since it is fibrous,it should be on my "eat" list b4 surgery too.
