  1. Thank you for this blog. It rang true to me when you said it was possible to lose weight and "get on" with life. I am realizing this every day. Sometimes it feels like you are more aware of what you cant eat because of the band and it seems like we are obsessing about food more now thn before. But the best part is realizing that Im not as hungry as I probably would have been in the past.

  2. I read a forum topic about feeling sick during the fill part (vasovagel nerve, something like that!) so I just concentrate on my breathing. I like your thought about 10lbs between visits. I know its just one day out, but the longer time Ive felt in being satisfied for meals makes me very happy and hopeful.

  3. Thank you all for the kind support and words of encouragement. I know my husband can be a d**k. Sometimes in 100% of what he says and sometimes in 1% of what he says. I know he is insecure, ugg, and despite my flip flopping back and forth I have stayed and we have worked stuff out together.

i wont make excuses for him. I have wondered and asked him who screwed him over to give him this attitude but have moved on as I want to remain as positive with him. Last Christmas when I was in the approval stages he bought me many gradually getting smaller items of clothing like work out stuff and sexy stuff too and said it was something he looked forward to. So he does flip flop too. He wants to me be healthy and look great but doesnt want me to run away. Im not offended if you think he is a d**k, haha, I think he's a d**k on occasion as well.

I will talk with him again about how much it hurts me when he comments like that. Just last week when he had a heart to heart with me about fast food choices that he thought would disappear (and to my fault, did not) he said he was concerned with telling me because I always become upset about it. And to be honest, its probably because I need to be truthful with myself about how inconsistent I am being (because I am embarrassed to admit I have slipped up) but also the way he bluntly tells me that I could have lost the weight on my own.

I hate to sound like those abused woman that make escuses and say "but he loves me" but I agree about him having serious self esteem issues.

I am so glad I joined this group- your support helps. I hope this blog helped someone reevaluate how they take non supporters and remember to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!

  4. You are not being nosey. My DH has not had WLS. I agree that it will be very special for you and your DH, because he has. He will be able to understand what you are going through and what you are feeling. He will understand your weak moments and the times where you feel this is never going to work, My DH has been athletic his whole life and despite being a pack a day smoker, can jog on the treadmill at a 5 mph speed forever...I dont know how he does it. He also eats like a linebacker and on three different occassions we have had to use another extra table at a restaurant to fit all of this plates! ARRRRGGGG its hard to eat sometimes around him!

  5. Im so glad you joined, Traci!!

I read your blog post and I can feel all what you are saying because I am there myself. I hope you stay excited and when things get you down, know that you can turn to people on LapBand Talk to listen.

Keep blogging! I want to know more about whats going on with YOU!

  6. Thanks Ladies!!!

I do park far at work but its because I have no choice, there are no parking spaces, lol!!

Carolinagirl- dont be embarrassed NO MATTER WHAT. And I'll tell you why, when people see you taking a class they see someone trying to make a difference. I know what I look like, especially during class trying to salsa and tango. There are mirrors all around that workout room. But there are others maybe further behind me on the road to wellness as well as people a few miles ahead of me on that road. I just remember to keep walking on that path and someday I will catch up! Carolinagirl- lets go for a walk!

  7. So I take it you only have to make it through this weekend, since you're getting filled on Monday. Hmmm.. I guess a lot of it would have to do whether you are going with a low carb or a low cal diet after restriction.

Get back to practicing all the chewing you are going to have to do and finalize the idea of not having certain foods anymore since the restriction will be officially in place. Prepare yourself by stocking up on the high protein liquids/meal replacements for the first part of the week after the fill.

Practice sipping your water through out the day.

Buy that sugar free gum that supposedly tastes like dessert, I like the choc chip mint, but the strawberry shortcake tastes like cardboard.

Figure out which plates, bowls and cups you will be your go to's since your portions will decrease, no reason to put that chicken breast on a huge dinner plate when a salad or bread plate will do.

Have patience with yourself and remember that you didnt gain overnight so you wont lose overnight.

Good Luck- hope to be in your place real soon!

  8. I dont have restriction but had my last taste of diet coke the night before surgery. You might want to try to really just give it up and move on. I can only speak for myself, but I know that as soon as I found out I could "cheat", I started having a lot of stuff I shouldnt be having- even with no restriction.

I've eaten bread, steak and ice cream. And when I get my first fill next month (August!!) I just know I'll be dreaming about stuff I should have gotten out of my system back in May.

  9. I LOVE diet Peach Snapple, but cant drink it too much because that flavor upsets my stomach. I do like their half and half diet tea, half lemonade and half tea. I was bloated the first two weeks but the gas melt tabs were amazing and now I really dont ever have to use them at all. I had a very smooth transition from liquids to semi solid, mushie type foods. Exercising often is good, I know that REALLY helped me with bloating and gas. Just getting up to move helps you heal faster. 3 miles on the elliptical is awesome, keep it up.I do the official weigh in on Wednesdays, but I honestly check every day out of habit. I just make Wednesday the official number that I will post. Dont stop working towards your goal and stay positive, you are on your way!!!

  10. I didnt notice until I was doing my post op re reading of the paperwork that I wouldnt get a fill until 3 months after the surgery!!! I cant believe that!

Ive been lucky with the protein shakes so far, they make up 1-2 of my meals most days!
