Am I On Track
I agree with Lisa, as long as you are losing, you are doing great. I was sleeved on 4/23/12 and lost 33 pounds with pre-op. My doctor said that was fine. Everyone one loses the weight differently. Just keep the faith and still work on it

Denied Blue Shield Of California (Ppo)
Denise, I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with the insurance. I too have Blue Cross PPO. I know that one of the things that they a strictler about is the BMI. You mentioned that you were just under 40. From when I went through the process I had to be over 40 for a while. Just a few suggestions... see if the doctor can re-weigh you after drinking a lot of Water to get you at a BMI of 40 and to re-write it to put your sleep apena in the request. If all else fails.. Appeal, Appeal, Appeal!!

Swimming?
I was cleared @ 3 wks. I have been going to water aerobics 3x a week since. The only scar that is not so pretty is the bigger one but I have been putting that scar cream on it and it is starting to look a lot better.

Travel Question
I was able to recover at home after I was discharged from the hospital. I had my husband take me home but I was able handle everything myself. I just suggest to plan ahead and have your Protein shakes, broth, Soups, etc at the house ahead of time

Vomitting Question Pls Help!
If you are 4 wks post op, I don't think the banana chip was the best; however, it can be several factors. How much you spaced each item you ate, how fast you spaced them, and how much you chewed. A rule of thumb is if you vomit, you should go back to clear liquids til you feel better. I am sorry that you are feeling bad. I hope that it passes soon

An Attitude Of Gratitude.
I completely understand. You are taking the right steps. There is a great article on one of the forum about 20 tips to not have the loose skin. Some of the things I am trying is lots of suncreen, lotion, sea salt scrubs. The more your skin is hydrated the better it can repair itself. There was a few other things listed like wraps and such. I will post it when I find it

Gum
My surgeon also told me that you are just chewing on air and it can cause gas in the early stage of being sleeved. It is the same as straw drinking. It just depends on your tolerance

Ice Cream...
Thrifty has some wonderful Greek Style frozen yogurt. It is both under 16 grams of sugar and give you 6 grams of Protein. They have a chocolate flavor and a blueberry cheesecake. I also like their nonfat strawberry frozen yogurt and it has 3 grams of protein.

*ladies*
I am a 40 D as well and I went without a bra for two weeks while I was at home. Once the smaller incisions closed and somewhat healed; it was a lot easier

Straw Drinking?
Maybe a will try again in a few weeks. I wish I was so lucky, CaliKat. I had gas pain for 2 wks post op. It is not that bad anymore though. I agree that it would make getting my liquid intake a lot easier. I am getting the bare minimum. I found a few cups I have that have helped, so I am getting closer to my goal.

One Month Today, 30 Lbs Down
Congratulations!!! It feels so good

Protein Shakes, Yuck!
I completely understand. I can't stand any protein shakes after surgery. I have been doing the protein shots or Isopure. They Isopure I have been dividing it up as I need the extra protein. For example, Isopure has 40 grams of protein in a 20 oz bottle. So for every 5 oz you get 10 grams of protein

What To Take For Period
Of course talk to your doctor, but my doctor told me it is okay to take some Midol and some of the Excedrins as long as it doesn't have ibuprofen in it

The Scale Is Stuck, But I Feel Sexy
Good Luck going back to work. I know that you will do just fine as long as you listening to your body. I am 4 wks post op and I hit a stall. I agree that it is only a minor set back. It took me 10 years to get to my HW and it is going to be a lot sooner to come off with the help of my tool

Bad Hormones! Be Good!
OMG!!! I thought I was the only one. I am going to the OB/GYN on Friday and explore my options of birth control. My husband is still shy about it all because he feels too soon after surgery, but I just told him battery "bob" will have to take his place for awhile.

"there Is Not A Downside To Weight Loss Through Bariatric Surgery,"
Thank you for posting... The article is talking about my life. At my highest weight I would get my period maybe once every 90 days and if I go beyond that I had to take medicine to start my period. I have PCOS which I was insulin resistant, was growing hair on my chin and toes, hormone imbalance, not able to get pregnant even with the help of medications, and difficulty losing weight. My OB / GYN was the one that suggested I might want to consider getting help on the weight and to help with the insulin issues. I am 4 weeks out from surgery and already had my 1st period. Guess what?, my cycle was for the first time in a long time, 30 days. I agreed my my surgeon that I would wait 18 months before trying to conceive. He told me that he wants me to be selfish and learn now to adjust to my sleeve, make and perfect my new habits, and love me before taking care of another life.

When Does The Pain Stop Entirely?
I would talk to the doctor. I didn't have much pain until tonight. Throwing up is not fun or good

How Can You Tell If You Have A Leak
Tonight my left side started to hurt. It is not painful; it just hurts like I did a lot of sit ups. However if I push on that side of my stomach; it hurts I have been burping quite a bit so I don't know if it is gas pain. I don't have any gas x on me Any suggestions

Its Been....three Weeks!
Mushy food was the hardest for me to get in all my Protein in and Water in as well. I still relied on my Protein drinks to get me in protein for 1 to 2 of my requirement and then tried to get the water the rest of the time. Once you get to meat eating; it gets a whole lot better. Give yourself time. I was on mushy food for 10 days before I moved on.
