Protein Shakes
I really like unjury chocolate. I make a cup of decaf coffee and a little bit of skim milk and some ice in the blender and it tastes like a frappuccino. I saw someone posted a recipe for what tasted like a butterfinger shake. She used butterscotch pudding powder and chocolate powder with vanilla flavoring I think. You will get board with plain shakes and start to experiment with flavors. Good luck

Liquid preop diet starts tomorrow
Terry is so right about the headaches, but they pass in a day or two. It gets easier. If you owned day one, you will kick the a** of the rest of the pre-op. Stay strong!

Beer with the lapband
Here is a link I found that talks a little bit about this. Not sure if it answers the questions any better than ones with experienced band life but here it is any way. http://www.lapband.us/diet-restrictions.html

So proud of myself right now :-)
To me it was just like quitting smoking. One craving at a time!! I tell myself if I can kick cigarettes I can quit food too. The pre-op and the post-op liquid diet has been the worst for me, but it is getting so much easier, in that I am not consumed with thoughts of food ALL the time. Good luck on the rest of your per-op. Stay strong

preop jitters
I was the same way until the day before. Then I found a calm come over me. If you stress about it you are putting stress on your body and could slow your healing process.

gas pain
When I did have the gas pains, mine were in my chest and would move up through my color bone. Hope you are feeling better.

so sick of this
I am so sorry that he feels that way. I was scared to tell my dad too for that same reason. I didn't object at first because he didn't know enough about it and said so. Since I have done it, he has been supportive and is coming around a little more. Maybe if you get him to read more about it and do some research he will change his mind or at least try to be more supportive. Just remember too, he is not the one that has to live your life, you do. You will be the one to deal with your consequences. As long as you know full hearted what you are walking into you will do great! Much love and hugs.

1 week post op and feel VERY full all the time
I hate to hear you are feel bad. Do you know if they left any fluid in your band? My nurse told me that they flush the band before they close you up to make sure the band doesn't leak. I talked to a lady at a support group that said they had left some fluid in hers and about two weeks after surgery they took it out. She said she had a really bad shoulder pain. After they took the fluid out she felt instant relief. Just a thought I had when I read your post. Hope you find relief.

Weak and no energy on preop diet
Try EAS advantage Dark Rich Chocolate pre-mixed Protein shakes. It has a really good chocolate flavor and it does not have lactose in it (I don't think, I would have to check.), but they aren't bad at all.

Its bad today!
It was 9 degrees here last night, not sure I can bring myself to do popsicles. I have a hard time with really cold protein shakes when it gets this cold. Just saying

Cream Soup on liquids post-op
I found a fiesta nacho cheese soup from campbells in my cabinet. I might try mixing it and cream of broccoli together, may get dangerous and add some cream of chicken to it and see what happens. You never know we may come up with some new recipes for post-op diets and make a cook book. haha

Cream Soup on liquids post-op
My sucky walmart does not carry those kind of soups. I wish they did because I love regular v8. I really love the spicy v8 but not sure if it is smart to drink it 6 days post-op.

Cream Soup on liquids post-op
I had cream of broccoli and cream of chicken both. I had a little of each left in the fridge and mixed them together and it wasn't that bad. Was kinda like a mini casserole in liquid form. I also had cream of potato the other day. I have a can of cream of celery my husband bought me but not sure it sound very appealing to me. I may have to go buy something else (cream of soup) to mix it with. Good luck. Let me know if you come up with any other combinations that are good.

Its bad today!
Hang in there buddy . I too had a craving for something to crunch or just chew last night. I ended up eating my mashed potatoes like I was told but it seemed I may have taken in too much because my incisions seem to hurt and my belly swelled out and hurt. But I didn't want to put anything else in my mouth, lol. Was a live and learn moment. Hang in there, we are in the home stretch. You got this whipped

gas pain
Walk, walk, walk!! I would get under my electric blanket turned up higher too. It seemed the warmer I got the less gas pain I had.

January 2013 Bandsters Unite
So I am 6 days post-op and I am so proud of myself. I just walked up and down my sloped driveway for 20 minutes in this frigid weather. I bundled up and off I went with the dogs following (all four of them). It's been a looonngg time since I have felt motivated and energetic enough to do anything in the middle of the day other than take a nap on my day off. I can not believe how great I feel being 6 days out. I was so nervous I would be down for awhile. Very pleased with my results.
