  1. Good luck Ssilian. I had the six month counseling and I have been approved and Thursday I find out the surgery date. I can only imagine how you feel after going through all this a year!!

I just received my approval letter today, though I was approved verbally (I had to call) a week ago Monday.

    Good luck, closer every day.

  2. I was told of course the 64 ounces of water and up to 80 grams of protein a day. If you are having a hard time figuring out how much protein you get, try using myfitnesspal.com Remember not to follow their recommendation of carbs, fat etc. but if you track your food, water, etc. that way you can really get handle of everything.

I had a hard time at first documenting my food but during the six months of regular visits, I had to turn in completed daily food, water & exercise journals and it made it so very easy.

  3. My prayers are with you. I'm so sorry that you are going through this, I'm sorry about the blood clot and the way you were treated at the hospital. I hope the clot dissolves and you can get back to the business of healing, feeling better and then on your road to learning how to deal with the new sleeve.

  4. Sending prayers . I had a pre-op appointment today, and found out that my EKG on April 1 was abnormal (this was after I got the cardiologist release). Next Thursday I meet with the surgeon and we are setting the date probably last week in May so now I have to get this taken care of.

Will keep you in my prayers, that it's nothing but a shadow and keep us posted.

  5. Good luck to you. Sounds like you were put through a huge process. I hope you hear by the 7th.

I'm hoping they will schedule surgery before the end of May. Swimming is my treat. If I had a choice of cake or swimming, I would always chose swimming. I was told I won't be able to swim from 4 - 6 weeks after surgery and I really wanted to be able to swim by 4th of July.

Like you though, I'm scared, excited, nervous and yes, scared again.

It looks like we'll be doing this very close together and that's a good thing, we can be scared together!

  6. I would try tracking your food again through something like myfitnesspal.com just to see the exact amount of carbs, calories and protein you are consuming. Of course, not following their guidelines for calories & carbs because they are much higher than someone with a sleeve should be eating.

I would start with one 100% Whey Protein Shake at least a day, get rid of the chips and popcorn, croutons add more lean protein.

Work out routines must be varied. If you are used to walking 30 minutes a night at a certain pace, that because part of the norm. It's not "added exercise". The less you weight the more exertion you need.

Besides cardiovascular, try adding weight training, lifting small weights, doing lunges. Muscle weighs more than fat, so it may seem like you are losing slower, but muscle boosts metabolism. Most of all make sure you are consuming your 64 ounces of a water a day.

    Good luck!

  7. I'm sorry you are struggling right now. You had a LOT going on, so you need to remember that you made it through some really dark days with all those complications. I think you should be so proud of all you have accomplished so far. Give your body time to heal.

My Fitness Pal is an awesome tool, however, as Writergirl states, the goals they set are for someone that's on a traditional diet. Use MFP as a tool to easily keep track of what you eat, see your carb & protein and calorie intake.

I have used MFP faithfully for six months, but followed the guidelines by my doctor which was 40-75 carbs, 80 protein, and 800-1000 calories, 64 ounces of a water, and I have lost about 10 a month during the pre-diet phase before surgery. MFP suggests I eat close to 1,3000 calories, 145 grams of carbs, and 45 grams of protein a day. It recommends even higher when I add my exercise to the day. If I followed MFP guidelines I would gain weight, so it always says I am eating too few calories, which is fine. Using it as a tool to keep track of everything is what it's there for, and it works great for me, I just don't follow their recommendations.

I hope someone can help you figure out what kinds of foods will help you get your protein in if you are having a hard time eating. I read somewhere on these forums there is a place called unjury.com and they have a very good flavoried chicken broth. I was thinking of trying that and perhaps cooking it and adding an egg to it to make egg drop soup, to help push my proteins when the time comes.

I'll keep you in my prayers. Good Luck.
