Whats the harm in having a conversation? Not all people have the same skin damage as you. We are all adults that researched a serious operation to save our lives, I think we can handle a conversation about topical creams and wraps without causing a mass hysteria.

I do worry about that! and I REFUSE to go back on my old habits!!! I see the damage that I caused. I know I have a strong addiction to food. Like you said once I realized that, I did seek out the help of a therapist. My health insurance do cover family therapist. So I signed up with one. You will benefit from it. I benefit so much from my session. I learned how to manage my stress, how to cope, how to "see" food differently.
So yes, I do encourage you to find a therapist. It will help you stay on course.
    We can beat this!!!!

I woke up this morning feeling absolutely happy!!! Had a fantastic week( away from the scale lol). I went out with my sister on to a local sea food place. I had some fried fish and fried jumbo shrimps  I have a strict rule against fried food, but I just felt it and it was so GOOD!!!
Almost at the six months mark and loving my sleeve so much more

My NUT told me that early on you have some nerve damage and you may not actually feel the restriction. She had me carefully weighing and measuring - eating more by the scale and the clock then relying on stomach sensation. That did change, i am only talking about the first approx 6 weeks.
One of the key differences with the sleeve is you don't have that pain signal, at least in my case, I didn't vomit everytime something was slightly too much. the band is like the punisher, whereas the sleeve is more like the help you control yourself. Trust me, over the long run the sleeve works a lot better.
The NUT told me that at this stage one of the top priorities is to protect the baby sleeve and keep it feeling that tightness (or if you haven't felt that yet, keep it so when the sensations return it will be tight)
I think you should be in the general ballpark of 1/4 cup to half cup MAXIMUM total food at a meal. For dense food, 1/2 cup volume is probably too much.
If you are really hungry all the time, check that you are not dehydrated. Even now, alot of times when I say "I am hungry" what I really am is thirsty but my messed up system doesn't seem to register it correctly. Also, you should be on something for the stomach acid - a PPI or something. If you are not, get started. If you are, consider asking for a different type. Again, early on the acid felt alot like hunger.
so, my words of encouragement are that I actually found it really hard to deal with food/hunger etc until about 6-8 weeks out. And then, it got so much easier and the weight just kept coming off.... This will get better.

Are eating enough enough Protein during your regular meals? maybe you are not eating enough and that might be the reason you get hungry shortly after a meal. If you are consuming 3oz of meat for example, maybe eat 4oz now.
Also, are you drinking enough Water? If you know you had a well balanced meal, and felt satisfied afterward. But one hour later want to eat again, drink Water instead. For a long time, I misread my thirst signals for hunger signals.
If you are bored and feel like snacking, get busy. Find something to do and drink your water.30 minutes later revisit the feeling and see if in fact you are "hungry".
If you still want to eat something, pick a high Protein, low carb/cal snack.< /p>
I try not to give in to my cravings as soon as I get them. If I feel "hungry" less than two hours after a meal, I always grab a glass of water first. Forcing myself to wait the mandatory 30 minutes waiting period before eating, that my doctor taught us. He also stressed the fact that our meals should be plan. He wants us to balance meal time/water/protein supplement/meal time/water/exercise/water/ to help cut back on snacking.
    Good luck!!

WOW!!! great job!! As soon as I have my baby, I will definitely have a Tummy Tuck and breast lift/augmentation. I will deal with my wings and thighs later. I can already see that I am going to have a lot of loose skin, and I am not carrying that around. No way!! I can NOT wait

Bryan, I really hope that you do not get flamed for this comment bcs I think that MANY people fear the loss of food, you are just being honest about it.
So....I'm going to be honest back: Bryan, it REALLY sounds like you are not quite ready for this surgery. The 'loss' of good food is temporary, the loss of weight is permanent. . If you can't bear the thought of being even 'away' from food for a few short months, then mentally you are not ready. You are more than likely going to find ways to eat around your sleeve and it could be a disaster!!
Have you gone to the recipe forum on here? You'll see that it's not all doom and gloom. There are some pretty tasty creations post-op.
I'm enjoying my sleeve at 9 weeks out. I love the idea that I can sit and enjoy really good tasting food and only need 1/4 of what I ate before. This allows me to really buy high quality food and eat at better restaurants. So the quality of my food has improved immensely.
But, back to you: I strongly recommend that you have some sessions w a WLS therapist. Or, and i mean this w no disrespect or unkindness: don't have the surgery. This isn't a walk in the park, Bryan. It's serious stuff. If you aren't ready mentally to part with food, even temporarily, then you will be putting your health at risk post-surgery. Please step back and take a serious look at this surgery. It's not for wimps and how well you will really be able to handle the limits post-op. Because no matter what the size, you'll still have the post-op limits & discomfort. I wish you all the best and truly hope that you can work thru this.

I would look at statistics on success rates with bigger sleeves vs standard sizes. No need to go through with it if it will ultimately not be a help to you. Just something to think about and discuss with your doc.
Personally- I eat too fast, and "get away" with it. I've tried and tried to slow down, but I pretty much eat at the normal speed. I can drink 8 oz of liquid in just a few minutes. Everyone has a different experience, but mine has been flawless and problem-free. It did not take me long to "eat normally" again. Just smaller and healthier.
My appetite has returned to some extent and some various cravings for carbs and sugars. It is a constant battle, but I know if I had more stomach, I'd be filling it. Just sayin'.....
    So, there's that....

    Awww...it's not that great.
Just getting out of chair without making a sound like someone stepped on an inflated blow fish.
Just walking up the stairs and thinking about doing it again just for fun instead of breathing like an obscene caller.
Wishing you hadn't thrown away those awesome pants..that you wore 20 years ago.
Walking by a mirror and stopping and walking back again for another look with a smile on your face.
Going shopping for a new belt knowing that now it will actually be seen, unobscured by a belly roll.
Not having to emotionally prepare yourself for bad news when you take your blood pressure.
Going clothes shopping and looking at the price tag first before looking for the size.

I measure my food. That keeps me from over eating. I never paid attention to the signal before. And honestly, I didn't even know what the signal was!! After surgery, I ate until I felt "full" which meant stuffed/uncomfortable. By measuring my food, I learned to eat and stop before reaching that point.

That was one reason I went for this surgery. My daughter is 11yrs and I could never get pregnant after her. My period was very irregular. I used to go three months without one and have it stay two weeks. Than it will show a month later last four days and that's it for another three months or so. Since surgery I am regular. Can't really get pregnant yet since we are to wait at least 12-18 months. But I have a great feeling that I will get pregnant as soon I get the green light from my doctor. CAN'T WAIT!!

The one sure fire way I've seen to get your account closed is to start calling people here a bunch of fat heffers. That has worked in the past.
But you could have just as easily never posted here again and never come back to this website. Just the simple fact that you are replying to this thread demonstrates that you don't really want to leave. So why don't you take a few days off from the forums and then venture back. We all need "breaks" from it after a while.
