  1. Personally, If I had this done 5-10 years ago, I would have tried hard to keep it a secret except from my husband and parents and my BFF. However, I am much more comfortable with myself now, I'm not ashamed and I don't care what others have to say. If they don't like it, too bad. I announced it on Facebook the day I booked my surgery. My in-laws are a little annoying, but only because they care and they are concerned. But they were more concerned with Mexico than the surgery part. My reasoning is, it's not so much that I might inspire someone else who needs it, but maybe I'll make the skinny's out there who don't understand & see me lose weight and think its easy, so why can't "X" do it? KWIM? It seems like most people without weight problems just don't understand why we can't just lose the weight easily. Less in + more out = weigh less. But that's just a small piece of the puzzle.
  2. I had surgery the day after you and other than minor soreness, all that's bothering me is UGH gas. I've been walking a lot but it just won't seem to budge much. Do you still have surgery gas lol? Feeling like the marshmallow man here. I did a report last semester in Nutrition & Health on Protein and that is perhaps what is making me wonder. I just remember how important it was to get your protein in every day because your body will start canabolizing it's muscles to get it. I just had some chicken broth for dinner, I should have added in some Syntrax nectar. I'll do that tomorrow I think.
  3. Thanks for all the advice guys!!!
  4. Hmm... I was told not to start proteins until next week. I already have a tub of clear unflavored protein though & kinda feel like I should be having some sort of protein now.
  5. I don't think it's so much the act of frying as the high calorie oils that normally accompany it. Scrambled with some Pam I would think would be fine!
  6. I am 4 days post op and I'm on Clear liquids until next week. My doctors diet says I can start Protein supplements next week. So my question is, am I supposed to be trying to get any nutrition at all from the clear liquids? I'm happy sipping Water all day, I'm not feeling hungry at all, and I'm getting my liquids in. I'm just wondering though if I'm doing what I should be doing.
  7. Oh sorry lol - unflavored.
  8. I have a pound container of Syntrax nectar. Any suggestions of the best way to eat it? I tried it in broth (pre-op) and it got kinda foamy, but it was tolerable. I tried it in some diet juice but it seemed to make the juice really sweet & I couldn't finish drinking it. Any suggestions?
  9. Yeah I took one of the pain meds last night & they were disgusting (sublingual) so I haven't taken any more. No need, I feel great other than a little persistent gassiness lol
  10. Plusgel (antacid liquid) Mavidol SL Ketorolaco 30 mg (sublingual pain meds) Facelit Cefalexina 500 mg (antibiotic) It looks like you continue taking the meds for about 5 days after discharge. I was just discharged yesterday
  11. Started this blog at the airport, created it from my phone, so sorry if it doesn't look super great lol. I wanted to keep a record of my journey - or I should say, my adventure - and this seemed like the best idea! http://ileftmystomachintijuana.blogspot.com
  12. I'm ready & excited. I don't think I'm nervous at all!
  13. Yes good luck to everyone else also! Im getting on the shuttle to the hospital in 90 minutes with Cassie
  14. You might swell up in the hospital from the fluids, you might watch out lol
  15. I don't know about being allowed jewelry, but I chose to leave my wedding ring & earrings at home and thats all the jewelry I normally ever wear. Hospitals usually recommend that you leave valuables at home. I paid in advance with a personal check in US funds.
  16. I experienced minor issues with Samuels cell phone also - something about all circuits are down. But I had another number that I left a message at and he called back within a minute or two and was there to meet us at baggage claim within about 5-10 minutes of our flight landing (and it landed early).
  17. Lol well maybe tonight or Thursday it will be better, though I might not care then lol
  18. My mango popsicle was super gross. Did I get a bad one? It was kinda....furry tasting....lol.
  19. Thanks everyone!!! I am writing a blog, i was going to wait to post until I got home, but the address is: http://ileftmystomachintijuana.blogspot.com I'm trying to use it as a diary for myself as well as info for others Never blogged before so we'll see how it goes!
  20. I had to get up at 230 this morning to head to the airport, so it's been pretty busy up till now. Im sitting in Salt Lake City waiting for almost 3 hours till my connecting flight. Should be in San Diego around noon local time! Ready to get this show on the road lol
  21. Sweetsusie, has anyone told you that you look like Katy Perry?
  22. I believe the correct answer is "whenever you feel like it" lol. I'll let you know how long that is when I get back from surgery next week
  23. We have to leave for the airport at 3am, so I'm really getting down to the wire here - just a little over 12 hours to go! Just got checked in for our flight and now just wondering what I'm forgetting or will be wishing I brought lol.
  24. Just got done with last minute preparations - finished packing, epi-ladied my legs lol, last minute laundry, etc. I usually like to come home to a nice clean house when I travel, but hubby & kids will be here all week so I'll be lucky if it's still standing when I get home, geesh.
  25. I would talk to your family doctor. Could be some sort of artery narrowing or blockage, sometimes symptoms are induced by exercise (increased blood flow hindered by narrow passageways).
