  1. Yep Louisiana girl here, central LA. Had my surgery in Alexandria. Did you get much of Isaacs Wrath?
  2. Dana, yes they gave me something for the nausea, I was maxed out on Zofran and Phenergan, plus they put the patch on me before surgery to help prevent the nausea. im sure it helped, it just didn't seem like it at the time. I was miserable! I have to say though, that was the only time I ever wondered, why did I do this to myself?! Other than soreness and minimal pain after 24 hours, it has pretty much been smooth sailing. If I never lost another pound, I would still have this surgery 100X over for the results I have gotten in just a little over 4 months. It is totally worth 24 hours of pure misery! Good Luck!!!
  3. My husband was halfway around the world working when I had my surgery, but my parents were there during and after the surgery. My brother came and stayed the night that night when my parents left. Support is extremely important. I was in pain and the nausea was horrendous! I never vomited, just constant terrible heaving and nausea. It was very nice that there was someone there just to hand me a cold cloth to lay over my neck and wipe my mouth, call for the nurse if needed, cheer me on when it was time to walk when all I wanted to do was sleep. You really should consider having someone there before, during, and after the procedure. Before the procedure you will need the emotional support because its possible you will be nervous.
  4. I flew from louisiana to big island hawaii at 4 1/2 weeks post op. About a 12 hour flight. I was fine. Although we didn't do amusement parks, I hiked miles and miles over jagged lava fields, etc At that point I was on seminormal foods, anything I didn't have to chew 30 times, in other words tender or soft. You will be fine, just use caution choosing rides, I would be nervous to choose anything that clamped tightly over my new tummy at that point, it might make you sore.
  5. I never quit before surgery but cut way back on the amount. My surgeon fussed a bit but I told him that I could not give up 2 things at once, food and cigs, unless he wanted a mental case on his hands. I was not being overly dramatic, I am an anxious person and have the occasional panic attacks to where I think I am literally dying. I tried chantix, had an allergic reaction to it so thats a no go. It also made me crave the strangest things. Anyway, I do intend to completely quit by one year post op, but not because a doc says to, because I want to. Good luck to you!
  6. congrats! I dont think I have ever been a 4 in my life, I was jumping up and down in the dressing room the other day when I was able to get size 10 capris on and they looked great! A big difference from prevsg when I was also in 18-20. I cant wait until I can get into size 4! You rock that sleeve girl!
  7. So happy for you! I remember how excited I was when I hit onderland! Keep up the good work!
  8. i left hosp on full liquids, was on soft at around 10-14 days, and reg food at 5 weeks. It just varies depending on your surgeon

  10. Oh no, I was really hoping you would get some good test results!
  11. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Oh, lordy, I am in a blended family as well. However my dh has no kids at all and I have 2 teenage boys who are quite a handfull.. We married when they where 3 and 5 so we have been together most of there lives, one is almost 14 and the other is 16. My dh was raised with not much love in his household, no support, etc and I was raised by 2 loving parents (happily married 39 years now) so we definately have different backgrounds and that proves to be a problem on occasion. His dad yelled at him when he did something wrong, and mine sat me down and explained to me why it was wrong. Dh then wound up in jail at an early age for DWI, and I have never been in trouble. DH now struggles with how to relate to teenage kids, because he was never given a role model, but he doesn't want them to end up like he did either, so he tends to be overly strict. I on the other hand tend to be overly lenient, until they have committed something that deserves a grave consequence. Example, it makes him crazy if their rooms and bathrooms aren't cleaned, it doesn't bother me, the boys have the 2 floor all to thereselves so as long as I don't have to see it, it doesn't really bother me.. Finacially, dh has never put boundaries on what I spend on them. He bought the oldest a nice used truck for his 16th bday, but expects him to get a job and buy his own gas (as do I). My point is, blended families are HARD!!! It is a constant give and take to find out what works and what doesn't. Sometimes one partner has to give more than the other. I buy for his family (parents etc) for holidays, birthdays, etc simply because he works so hard to provide for us I don't mind. And I honestly feel sorry for him (or anyone else for that matter) that is raising someone elses kid. I would not want to do it. It has to be hard to figure out where you as a step parent fit into this kids life. Life is hard enough without added drama. My question for you is this, (there is no wrong answer so don't be offended) How will your conscience feel if you stop doing for this child? or buying for him? Didn't you say he was only 5? If you keep seperate finances from dh, maybe a compromise would be to tell him you need X amount $ and you go and pick up the holiday gifts etc? Once again, please don't be offended, I am just offering ideas and mean no hard feelings.
  13. I take ambien as needed without any problems, but I prefer lunesta. I wake up from lunesta feeling so rested and full of energy. I sleep fine with the ambien, just rest better with the lunesta.
