The Pain?
My pain was quite severe initially.. I would say for the first 3 days.. Compared to childbirth-I had a section and a spinal and that pain was intense... I had trapped gas for my section too. For the sleeve surgery I wasn't expecting as much pain as I had.. But, the pain was more of an intense burn in my stomach.. I am almost 3 weeks post op and haven't taken any meds in 1 1/2 weeks... My pain is gone, I feel pretty good and I'm getting ready to go back to work (I'm a nurse) on Sunday. Initially--take your meds!! Use ice packs for your stomach and heating pad for your back *this is what my surgeon suggested. I slept with ice packs for the first three nights at home--it was amazing Good luck to you~!!! Jenn

Regrets?
@Debby, I understand completely. My first day home (and the next) I could not find a comfortable position to be in. That was awful. My doc said to use heating pad for my back/ice for belly. I have also been loving the gas x strips--supposed to help with trapped gas from procedure too! I am totally sympathizing with you Hang in there!!!!!!! Jenn

Regrets?
WOW! Thanks guys for all the replies. It's good to know I am not alone. I knew this was permanent and it just hit me these last couple of days that it really is. I am happy as the pounds are coming off like never before, I just want the negative feelings to be gone! Thanks again for the insight, I really appreciate it!!!! Jenn

Regrets?
First off, please don't flame... I am just venting here.. Immediately post op- and POD1 I was feeling immense regret over having the surgery. I know a lot of that was pain because I was in a lot of it.. But now here I am POD6 and I don't know if I am still having that nagging feeling of at least some regret over having the sleeve done. I don't know where this is coming from or why. I am grateful for my life, my family but just need to hear if others have went through a period of regret (or maybe I am mourning my fat self).... THanks in advance, Jenn

March Sleevers
Looking for anyone else who is a March Sleever for some encouragement. Have my date finally after starting the process 18 months ago, getting sidetracked and finally going for the gold Have a date of March 10 and getting ready to start my 2 week pre op liquid diet... This seems like such an obstacle for me, though I know it is for the me to have a safe surgery... Any thoughts, words of wisdom to get through these next 2 weeks??? Thanks--Jenn

Anyone Had A Thyroid Ultrasound? What Happens During An Endoscopy?
You could be pretty woozy depending on the anesthesia they use... Could you still bring someone along?

Anyone Had A Thyroid Ultrasound? What Happens During An Endoscopy?
That's just what it's called.. totally outpatient. the adult is so they can drive you home and sign your discharge stuff.. (legal documents). I wouldn't think they'd do it on Saturdays but it is always a possibility. I would call the office tomorrow that is supposed to be doing it to find out. Our office mgr calls the patients in the week before to tell them all the "requirements" of egd day. Don't stress.. Maybe there is a friend that can help you out for a few hours?

Anyone Had A Thyroid Ultrasound? What Happens During An Endoscopy?
A pelvic/abd us is like when you have a baby, but the pelvic part, they insert a "wand" of sorts in your vagina to get a close look at everything. The EGD(endoscopy) is a quick procedure, but you are given conscious sedation. Meaning as prev. poster said, you have to have another adult with you. You cannot sign legal documents, make any legal decisions etc, due to the sedation. (we use propofol at the surgery center I work at). EGD timeline--once we get you into the pre-op area-1/2 hour to an hour--as we go over history, get a physical assessment and baseline vital signs and cardiac rhythm strip and your IV for sedation. once you go back 15 minutes- then back to us in PACU and we have you awake and out the door within a half hour Much luck to you--the worst part of the EGD is anticipation.. You will not remember anything Jenn
