  1. Try to increase your calories, Protein and Water intake.. You may have had some post op swelling that has your weight up a bit.. It WILL come off.. Just takes time sometimes!!! Jenn
  2. I too am a full time nurse.. I went back to work at my hospital ICU job at 3 weeks post op and my prn clinic job 10d post op. I was a little tired at first but got back to normal routine rather quickly. I started taking my vitamins after my 1st post op appt and made sure I got plenty of fluids and protein and did fine.. Good luck!! Jenn
  3. Once everything is done and your doctor has dictated his visit/consult with you, they will submit it. I would call the office and check to see if it has been submitted. Then call your insurance co. You should know something soon! GL...

    Describe Tired

I went to work 3 weeks post op and it wasn't terrible. I work 12 hour night shifts and managed fine (as a nurse in critical care.) Make sure you are taking your vitamins and getting your fluids in.. (not to mention enough rest). Jenn

How Do I Let My Job Know?

Each employer has a different set of requirements. Mine had a leave of absence packet that I had to fill out. You won't be eligible for fmla as you haven't been there for a year. Probably the same with disability. I would go to your direct supervisor and talk to them. How long are you looking to take off? Hope things go ok for you but you should talk to them, sooner rather than later... Jenn

I Need Some Advice - Wait Time For Colonoscopy

8 months is unacceptable. I would be talking to the doctor directly. (PCP) He may not know this is going on and needs to hear it from a patient. If that GI doc cannot get you in, someone else can... Good luck. Jenn

    Pizza Crust ....

Had a friend who made this when she was just on a low carb diet and she LOVED it.. I haven't tried it yet though!

    1 Week Post-Op And Scared!

What is hurting?? I was having a lot of pain post op but once I started taking something for acid-the pain was very very minimal.. Are you taking anything? Make sure you are drinking and trying to get some Protein in--that is why you are weak. It is scary-I agree-but things will look better for you in another day.week.month.year. PM me if you want to chat... (I am 4 wks p.o.) Jenn

    Hmmmmmm

It's frustrating I understand!!! I have lost 34# since preop diet. I am 4 weeks PO. I am frustrated because I'm losing about a pound-2 week... BUT I am losing inches. Lots... Look at the other things that could be happening with your body! Do you feel better? Are your clothes fitting better, looser? Any loss is a positive Hang in there though!!! Jenn

  21. I hadn't had a period in a year when I had surgery 4 weeks ago (today)... 4 days post op, I started on my own. My GYN had already told me post op I would have to start taking progesterone to regulate my cycle so even though I started on my own on Wed, that Fri I started day 1/10 progesterone. My period lasted for 17 days. Fast forward to today-I started again.. UGH... So it is sounding fairly common post op for us to be having wonky periods... HTH, Jenn

    Out Of Pocket Costs

I don't have Aetna-and had not met deductibles yet so... I had to pay my surgeon $250 and my hospital $750--would have been around$950 but I am an employee. Plus a couple of co-pays for pre appts--Nut consult-$75, psych $15, preop md $15 Jenn
  24. Smiley, that is how I slept for the first week.. Propped on my side with my body pillow tucked under my belly and ice pack strategically placed It helped a lot. I am a side sleeper and that was the most comfortable I could get. Have water with you always and just drink, even if you don't want to... I was on the dehydrated side the first couple of days home *my veins were not visable like usual and my urine was dark, but it did start getting better after that... Try some popsicles if you can't drink-you can get a lot of fluid in that way too!!! SF tropicals are really good!!! Hang in there, it does get better!! jenn
  25. Cottage cheese has 11-12 gms of protein per 1/2 cup. I will eat this if I am low on protein. (but I have always liked it..) Maybe worth a shot? Greek yogurt with a packet of sweetener and some cinnamon is good too!!
