My surgeon doubled me up. This is just to be extra safe as far as leaks go. Lots of surgeons do it. Youll be fine. Good luck

Thank you for all the love & support, fellow sleevers!
    I am currently 1 day post op ... !
My pain yesterday after surgery (which for me was a 1 hour surgery) was maybe an "8" out of "10" right after waking up.
They gave me some morphine & some zofran - and it wasn't too shabby.
The night time was the worst so far. All the anesthesia had officially worn off, cause more pain than what the morphine and things could offer. However, it wasn't too terrible, maybe back up to a "7" for pain.
I completed my swallow test approx 3 hours ago (NO LEAKS! yay) - so I am waiting for the surgeon to A-OK me for some Water & Jello.
My pain right now - a 4 on a scale of 1-10. Not too bad - & I honestly have a VERY LOW pain tolerance.
The scariest part left (for me, personally) is the removal of this drain!!! =/ & the removal of the IVs of course - icky!
I'd be more than happy to answer any & all questions.
Sorry for any typos - I'm drifting in & out of sleep - ha

Band.....what band? I've 100% jumped ship over to the sleeve and cannot be more happy and confident with my decision. I'm at the beginning of the process but am moving along toward the ultimate goal.

I went to a lap-band seminar when I was first starting to look at WLS surgery too. There was a woman there who had lost 100+ pounds and I was very impressed. Then I came home and read the statistics on the lap-band manufacturer's website--a complication rate of 30%?? Something called "productive burping" and "getting stuck" and slipped bands? Plus the surgeon wanted to charge $300 for each fill or unfill. I figured out pretty quick that I wanted something permanent, one surgery, few complications, and little follow-up. I found VSG, and thought, "What has my stomach ever done for me except clamor to be fed and never feel full?" So I changed my mind. It's been 14 months and I am happier than I ever dreamed.

Hi all. This is my first posting on these boards. I've been posting over on Lap Band Talks because I was 100% convinced I was going to do the lap band. Well, I went to the seminar tonight and now I'm leaning toward the sleeve. I still don't know for sure yet though.
Anyone care to share their experience with the sleeve and if you are happy with your decision? Also, if you thought about lap band and went sleeve, what are your reasons?
    Thanks!
    ~Amy

    Hey fellow and future sleevers,
I just wanted to share some good news. I am 2 weeks post op today, and at weigh in I was 399.2. This is the first time in ten years I have been under 400 #s. I am stoked. I was given the ok by my nut to start on the mushies, but I am afraid to put anything into my stomach. I'm afraid to damage or overdue it. I'll start off slowly.
Anyhoo, just wanted to share my good news. I am proud of myself.

I hope I attached the pic correctly! This is my first post-op pic--I'm wearing a skirt I've had for at least 3 or 4 years, but couldn't wear because it was too little! It was baggy today! Whoop! Whoop! This is what it feels like for dreams to come true, huh???

Hey avi, this is COMPLETELY normal. I don't know of its separation anxiety, hormones or what, but I definitely had the same feeling right after. Why did I do this, was it the right choice, what if it doesn't work etc. letting go of these false assumptions and perceptions is hard but I will tell you from experience (I'm 10 months out) that it all gets better and the only regret you will have is that you didn't do it sooner. I know you don't know me, but I ask you to trust me. You've just been through a major surgery and you will not start to heal physically and then mentally. Keep your eye on the "why" you did this to begin with (I'm assuming to be healthy, happy and have a new lease on life) and that intense focus will allow you to get through the "how" (the possible pain, difficulties and new ways of doing things that to will learn over the next couple of months). I'm proud of you, you can do it, and I can't wait to hear about your progress and how amazing you feel when this first speed bump is behind you. Happy birthday, a new life is coming your way!
