Should All Pre-Oppers Get A Sleep Study Done?
One of my pre op appointments were to see a pulmonologist. I took a breathing test in the office which came back fine and he ordered a sleep study test to be on the safe side. He asked me if I snored and I told him only when I'm exhausted and even then it's not full out fog horn snores. It has to do with how your body reacts to being under during surgery.

Day 3
You are one brave man to go through all of this alone! I am so glad things are going well. I wish you all the best and loving support after you get home.

New Here - Surgery Date July 2Nd
Lady, We share surgery dates, we'll be sleeve sisters! My Mom still asks me if I think I'm doing the right thing. She talked to my husband on the phone while I was out and asked him if he thought I was doing it for appearance wise?! I'm getting tired of being questioned. I know she is very scared and concerned, which is natural and I get that. I know the reasons why I decided to have the sleeve done. I don't want to end up in her foot prints with a heart attack at the age of 48 resulting in a quadruple bypass. Or passing away after many years of uncontrolleable diabetes and passing away of a heart attack at 53 like my Dad. I also have chsen not to tell a lot of people, famiy members included because I just don't need the added stress. My husband and 3 children are beside me 100% in my decision. My Mom and sister are coming around, natually they are afraid of the unknown. We need to do this for ourselves and our quality of life!

Hi My Name Is
Congrats on making the decision to change your life! Your story is similar to mine. Work out like crazy only to play around with 10 lbs. for what seems like forever. I am towards the end of all of my pre op requirements and have a date of July2nd. I am ready but also very nervous. I just want to be on the other side, sitting on the loser's bench. It really helps hearing stories from sleeve veterans. Everyone is so helpful on this board!

Last Night Of My Old Life
Don't ever feel selfish, the good Lord knows what you need before you speak it and will be with you every step of the way. You will be in my prayer's. I understand your nervousness and can only imagine how I will be when I am in your shoes. I was a wreck the morning of my endoscopy and thought to myself how the heck am I going to be the morning of my surgery?! I needed to shake myself out of it and gain control. (as much as I could anyhow) You're going to do great and I look forward to hearing an update from you! This time tomorrow you'll be on the loser's bench!

So Tired Of Hearing...
I did respond with something very similar! It just irks me to no end! It makes me feel like I have to defend myself, this is one reason why I chose not to tell a lot of people before hand. I stress myself out enough without the help of other's lol. Afterwards when I am comfortable I plan to share my experience with any and all who ask. Thanks for the advice

So Tired Of Hearing...
"I sure hope you know what your getting yourself into" in response to getting the gastric sleeve done.(this person does not have the sleeve done) Really? Are you kidding me? Like I havent read every little peice of information and watched every youtube video til all hours of the night for MONTHS!? This is not a decision that you take lightly and it frustrates me when this person says this. (more than once) I just needed to vent to people who I know will understand

Letter From Primary Doctor
My surgeons office gave me a template also to give to my PCP. You might want to ask them if they have oneso that nothing gets left out of the letter from your PCP. Ive heard of that happening to someone and it delayed the process.

Tomorrow Is The Big Day!
Congrats to the both of you! How cool is that to go through this experience with your sister! All the best to the both of you

Vacationing With Family Who Doesn't Know
We definitely should! I will probably just tell them that I am on a strict diet and eat the protein first like Liberated Sleeve and Kat said while at the family reunion. I also wouldn't post pone my surgery for their sake unless there was a health risk. This forum is a great place to come to with any and all concerns no matter what they are without judgment, I love it!

Vacationing With Family Who Doesn't Know
Welcome to the forum! My surgery date is also July 2nd We also share a similar situation, my husbands family is having a family reunion in August and they don't know about my surgery either. I have the same concerns as you about eating while with them. I know eventually they will know about my surgery, I'm just not ready to share the info now.
