  1. Hi and welcome. This is a great place and I have had a lot of questions answered that i didn't even know I had. LOL Anyway, call BCBS and they will give you the list of things they require. I have BCBS of RI and that is what I did, lucky for me my Dr. had the same requirements, actually think they required more than insurace so I hope I am safe. I am waiting for their approval but have my date set. Personally, I am glad for the pre-reqs because I think I have learned a lot about myself and retrain myself prior to surgery. I don't think it is going to be easy but I do think I am much wiser about the choices I make when it comes to food. Good luck
  2. Hi and welcome, I can see how that is frustrating but still a great job! I am somewhat new myself but find that this forum is very helpful and the people are full of support.
  3. I was reading your post and thinking "did I write that?" I don't know if I need a 6 month supervised diet but I have been on one for 10 months now so I'm just waiting for Insurance approval. My date is set for April 16 because of a trip that was planned months ago. Good luck and welcome!
  4. That is absolutely horrible, I just joined this LBT and think for the most part this is a great support system and from seeing the responses to your thread, there are many people who are just as upset. You are a saint for being able and wanting to help change someone's life and I hope you don't give up on the people here who are strong. You should be blessed!
  5. You are wonderful, not only are you support for your wife, but for everyone here! There should be more DH's out there...LOL
  6. WOW - that is fantastic, I can't even imagine being a size 6. I have gone from a 22/24 to a 18/20 and have decided to get rid of my work clothes that do not fit me anymore. I know I am not going back up and have met a someone who I talk to every day who came up with a great idea to pass clothes to others instead of spending money we don't have. So I have a home for clothes I won't wear and hopefully some day i'll have room in my closet for much smaller new ones.
  7. Hi. Can I join this group? I am scheduled for 4/16 and am so excited! I love this site, I have learned so much and so glad I joined. Tracy - I am up to work with you to lose 25lbs by surgery date, my goal was 15-25 and would love to have someone else to kick my butt, I need it- my friends don't even pretent to eat healthy and i have 2 children who eat well, but they are kids and skinny ones too. lol thanks bunches and Congrats to all the other April Banders! :clap2:
  8. I am trying to figure this post thing out, i am new to all this but think it is fantastic. My banding is scheduled for 4/16 and I am so excited! Wish I had found this before now because it is very helpful. I am up for a challange, I need to pick up the exercise pace and need something to motivate me and this would do it. I have also set myself a goal of 15lbs by 4/16, but willing to take try to do the 25 by that date as well. anyone else up for a challange? I like a little competition, keeps me going. lol
  9. I don't know about after, but that is why I am waiting until April 16 to have mine done. I am going to Myrtle Beach for Easter week. My doctor said he would not do it before that because of the travel time, possiblity of blood clots and "what if there was a problem" you would have to see a dr who might not be familiar with banding issues. He didn't have a problem doing it the Monday I got back, just not before, so I guess my suggestion is to check with your doctor to see what they suggest. I am sure either way you will enjoy your vacation when ever it is!
  10. Good question. I too have chosen not to tell people, only a very few select friends, including 1 who had gastric bypass and my friends who i know will support me. Most of my family doesn't know so I was worried about that too. I am a full time student and need to return right to school the following Monday. Good Luck!
  11. Good luck and Congrats on your Date!
  12. That is fantastic, 28lbs! Drinking has always been an issue for me so while I wait for my date, I've been working really hard to find tricks to help me drink. I hate spending money on water bottles but I find I will drink more than if i have a glass of water. Just something that has helped me with that issue. Keep up the good work
  13. I am in the same place, banding is scheduled for April 16 but waiting for insurance approval. I did everything they required of me but waiting for their blessing is stressful. Good luck, hope you get your OK soon
  14. Folgers has a new low acid coffee out and it is pretty good, that is what i just switched to. I am a huge Starbucks fan so it was hard but it is better than nothing. I am down to 1 cup
  15. I am getting so excited, I think as every day goes by I am just thinking about my new life and getting some self confidence back. There are a few things I am nervous about but they are simple things. I am a bit worried about life style change, only because this is going to be the thing that makes or breaks my relationship! I will be Healthy and Strong either way! Congrats all on the weight loss!!!!!
  16. thanks for the input, I am glad to be loosing - They really stressed that to me when they scheduled my surgery, but i'm willing to work for it, i was just beginning to think that 50% was the max.
  17. This may sound silly, but... my Dr says that I should only anticipate loosing 50% of my excess weight, which i would like to think is on the lite side. After seeing all the fantastic results from everyone posting, I was just wondering if anyone has done extra stuff besides diet and exercise. It seems that most have not given up everything and have fantastic results. I set my goal at a realistic amount but would love to know that you can continue to loose more than 50% of excess weight.
  18. Thanks! this is such a wonderful site! It is so great to have support and to see other people's fears and accomplishments to know that I am not the only one out there. It is great motivation for me Glad you are doing well.
  19. I have my date and all my papers are submitted to my insurance company. I had a long laundry list of things that were required as well, including a weight loss requirement, which i think has helped change my lifestyle and prepare for surgery. I am waiting anxiously as well. Good luck!
  20. I am to be banded on 4/16 and it has been a long process, but they have been telling me to stop the coffee - i am down to 1 cup a day but it has been hard to get to this point. I don't know how I'm going to get rid of that last cup.
  21. I did it, got my date for April 16, 2007. so very excited, it has been a long road. In Albany there is a laundry list of things you must do before your date including 10% of your weight. Thanks so much Melissa - so glad I met you, It helps so much to have someone who can help motivate you times
  22. Hi, nice to see someone else from the area. I have my appointment with Dr. Singh on Thursday 2/22 to hopefully get a surgery date! They have a great band support group there too, I just found out about it and attended my first one. They were all wonderful there
  23. Hi all. I am new to LBT. I have my appointment with Dr. Singh in Albany on Thursday and hope to leave with a surgery date. I am probably looking at April. I am really excited, yet very nervous. I want to have it done sooner but am going on a family trip for Easter and am afraid I may not be strong enough for a 15 hr drive each way and to keep up with the kids. I have been fighting with my weight all my life but nothing seems to be working as i'm getting older, and can't wait to have the tool to help get it off and keep it off!
