I don't have a pre-surgery diet per say, but my dr did want me to do a liquid diet the day before to make sure my stomach is empty not swollen. I can have full liquids but didn't want me to eat solid food. I hope that helps guide you, You are the only one who can make that decision if you were not required to be on a pre-op diet. Good Luck

Jennifer Thank you - a few weeks ago I had a slight meltdown about all this, but I just know how great I feel about all this and for the most part, I know everything is going to be so much better in my life physically and mentally. And I am so excited about that I want to share that energy with all of you. You guys have become my banding family and it is just nice to beable to share with people who are going through the same thing. I went with a freind I met locally and she was so calm in the waiting room and i couldn't control myself, I was just so excited for her.

Terry You hit the nail on the head, you are wonderful and being one of the originals on this thread for april 07, I am so excited for you this week, I feel that We have been doing this together. This is the greatest group of people and it is so nice to be able to put your thought, fears, or just silly stories out there and have people relate and really understand. To all you with unsupportive DH, I am so very sorry. My DBF is not going with me but he has to work and is going to try to do his best, but I just don't understand why you ladies are not getting support. Are they afraid of you all being stronger, healthier and life changes? I said last month that I know this surgery is going to make or break us and I don't want it to break us, but if it does, I will be healthier and more confident, but it is an emotional trip no matter how you look at it! HUGS TO YOU ALL

No you don't sound like a heacase - and fear, yes there is some, change is scary but does not always have to be bad. I am going up to my attic and getting down my skinny summer clothes that have been up there forever and hanging them on my closet door to see me in them again. It is funny, I had my dream this morning, I woke up so calm and peaceful seeing myself on the beach in a small white dress getting married and not changing my name (MY relationship is not the greatest so I never say myself married) Isn't that funny, no name change for my children, water and marriage! How is that for a dream. I actually wanted to go back to sleep to get the happily ever ending. LOL

I think most dr's require psyc evaluation. I think they want to make sure you are mentally prepared for the life changes to come.

Anyone use BCBS-MN recently???
That is absolutely horrible! I have bcbs RI and I had to do all that stuff, my dr set his program based on BCBS requirements. I went to a nutritionist to track the program and we were required to lose 10% prior to approval. My bcbs did approve me but not until every pc of paper they required was submitted and I had to write in my own words a few paragraph paper on my weight history as part of the approval process. My pc has not done much to help me but they did write a great referral letter saying I've been a patient for 20 years and have always struggled with my weight. GOOD LUCK

Boo thanks for the encouragement. I had a slight laps in the exercise as i'm trying to get caught up on homework and housework before my surgery, Does shampooing the carpets count as exercise. LOL I am going for long walks 2x a day when I hit the beach so i hop that helps get me motivated, i come home and have surgery the next day.

My movie? well I don't have one quite yet, but it is becomming clearer I see myself being thin and healthy, going to the water park with my daughter and going on rides with her. Just being more active and going to the gym, which I love doing but just dont feel like it at this point in my life. I want to be more trusting myself and don't want to feel like everyone is calling me a fat ass but talking about me because I look so great.

Lunasa that is fantastic! and I do beleive there is a lot of truth to that. My mom tells me to see my future and focus on that. It is hard to see me thin but since she told me that I've actually calmed down greatly. Yesterday, I went nuts looking for a pic of me i put someplace safe and can't find, where i was 150 and didn't even know it was me. I want to find some pics and put them around my house so everywhere i go I can see that. I have some of those old clothes, not many, maybe i can hang them around my house to know I will fit into them again. Last page of March Banders has some amazing weight loss for 10+ days post op you guys should check it out, was motivation for me

Wow - there is so much going on. To everyone who is self pay - that is just amazing! I am lucky my insurance is paying 100% but bcbs and they had such a long long list of things to do, I've been working on approval since last Feb. Sheila - I totally understand about school. I am in the works of getting my degree in Construction Management, which being a female in a man's world is hard enough but then add in an overweight female and that just plain SUCKS! It is hard and depressing to go to school right now because I am having such a hard time getting a job. I need to be back to work in May when I won't get any unemployment anymore. March is almost over! getting closer by the minute.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Misty I was the same way, My surgery has been scheduled since Feb 22 and once I got clearance and the date, I had a few bad weekends but for the most part, I am living on chicken and salad and cheese sticks. I am going to the beach so we will see what happens, I'm going to grill chicken and bring it for salads during the day and try to be good at night

Hi everyone so i just tried to update the spreadsheet and it let me highlight the box but could not type. Tracy, any suggestions? So I missed a great day of posting and need to get caught up. I broke down and went to the Dr. tonight because my ears hurt and i have a horrible pain in the back of my neck. What a shock. Ear Infection and on antibiotics. Thank god I was not stubborn with this one and went, so I can have this cleared up so no surgery issues! Ok don't want to be sick on vacation either, but more concerned about surgery. how exciting March is almost over !

So for those who don't know - I was laid off my Job last July and am a full time student right now, desperately looking for a job for May. anyway I get to watch lots of Talk shows, I recorded Oprah last week because she had a WLS show and yesterday on Dr. Keith there was a woman who looked great, had the surgery, BUT she replaced her food addiction with alcohol. She wont eat so she doesn't gain an anything but started drinking and drinks like she use to eat. I think it is good to have a process and mentally prepare yourself before surgery, like I was forced to look at myself and I'm trying to work out my issues. There are so many who don't have a process, they just do it and I don't know if that is good either. anyway, just needed to throw that out there. My therapist loves that I'm doing this because she was getting paid weekly. LOL

Sara I know I will have that panic mode, I already do, but it will all be good and all be worth it. I was with my friend in the waiting room 2 weeks ago with her and she was so calm waiting, I was nuts for her! LOL
