    Hi Addison. Love your name!
I had surgery on June 5th at Forest Park by Dr. Nick Nicholson. The folks at FP were all so wonderful. I couldn't have asked for better care. Check out my blog. I've documented my journey pretty much from the time I decided to have the VSG surgery. I also am now uploading all kinds of useful information pages on there too.
Also, we are starting a DFW support group to meet up in real life. If you'd live in the area and want to be part of it, send me a pm with your email, phone number and some info about you that you want to share with the group. I will be sending out a chart to everyone in the group with all the group members information.
Finally, there is a secret Facebook group for June Sleevers. I can email you a link to it if you're interested.
Good luck to you in your journey! You will LOVE your sleeve. It's definitely become my favorite body part!

Let me guess.....those people who all think you should try this or that diet are skinny or at least aren't too overweight. Those people truly cannot understand the battle that overweight people have with food. Or, if they are obese, they haven't already tried and failed this diet and that diet. I don't think anyone here would have had or would be considering having WLS if they truly didn't feel it was necessary and the only way to achieve weight loss. I totally understand wanting the support of others, but no one knows you and what is best for you more than yourself. I would thank the people who make these comments and move on. Or, you could just ask them why they think you would you put yourself through surgery if you could do it through a diet. I wouldn't even discuss which diets you've tried so they can't come back with some other "miracle diet".
Best of luck to you in your journey. We are all here to support you so consider yourself very welcome here.

Thanks for checking in with me Mama.
I ended up attempting to go onto work yesterday and called and they connected me to the PA. She was awesome and she knew I hurt because crying a bit. She assured a lot of people hurt worse after going back to work and I had nothing to worry about as far as any complications. She called me in an additional medicine, Flexiril, to help with the muscle pain. She told me to take that, my maximium pain dose, some nausea medicine, put on a binder and use a heating pad and she wants me to do that at bedtime every night for awhile. I ended up leaving my office after an hour yesterday as I was dying in pain. I stopped by my pharmacy and got my Flexeril and came home and did what the PA said. Since I got home so early, I was actually able to take the meds twice. Today, I feel much better. I am going to take it way easy this weekend though and follow the PA's advice.
Thanks again for asking! Best of luck to you in your journey.

Hey y'all. I'm Amy. I live in Coppell and work in Plano. I love the idea of having meet ups with other locals. I think the support is wonderful.
When I initially was going to have the band, I started a DFW support group on a lapband board. I collected information (name, location, email, cell phone #, and personal information each person wanted to share) and made a chart and emailed it to everyone in the group. It makes it easier to get to know each other and to contact everyone for get togethers.
Tonibugg, I'd be happy to do that with this group if you want me to. I don't wanna butt in on what you started unless you are okay with it. If you are, y'all can PM me any information about you. Include your email and I will send the chart to everyone.

I googled recipe for high Protein crackers and found this which might be helpful to you:
You can use any cracker recipe and replace up to 1/3rd of the flour called for with your choice of soy isolate, bean powder etc.
As an example a standard cracker recipe would use 2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsps yeast and enough Water to make a dough suitable for rolling thin.
You could replace 2/3rd cup of the flour with soy isolate or any bean powder, cornmeal, oatmeal, amaranth etc.
Replace the Water with veggie juices also if you like.
Just get creative and go NUTS with experimenting! That's what makes baking fun<G>.
Oh, roll the dough thin! A Pasta roller is handy but a rolling pin works fine. To get an even roll wrap rubber bands around either end of the pin, when the band hits the work surface you're ready to cut crackers. A pizza wheel works quite well,as to ravioli wheels or any sharp kitchen knife. You can get round crackers by pressing a glass rim into the thin sheet of dough.
Bake at 350-500 until the cracker barely starts to brown. Cool on wire racks to insure crispness.

I am only 8 days (well 9 now that it is past midnight) post op and after surgery I had quite a few moments of "what the he#@ did I do to myself?" moments. What I figured out was it was directly due to my pain level. I haven't had any of those moments in days now. I'm actually very excited for the journey ahead of me. Best of luck to you!

I'm 15 days postop and had some "what in the heck did I get myself into" moments early on. I quickly figured out they were only when I didn't have adequate pain control. That being said, I find my whole attitude about life is much improved. I find myself thinking how happy I am and how excited I am for this journey and for what lies ahead in the future. I am so very happy and excited I had this surgery!

My surgeon had a Bariatric Advantage rep at his office the day of my consult. I met with him after my doctor appoint, ent to try everything. At the same time he filled out this sheet with what I liked so they knew what to send me. When I finally saw the cost of it all, I said no way in heck. Good thing my doctor didn't require I use their products. I have a serious problem with a surgeon who requires you use one product or another. I'd suggest you talk to your doctr and explain your reason for wanting a lower cost option. Good luck to you!
