You have a greater risk of dying in a car accident during your morning commute to work, but I doubt you will stay home and stop working...why? Because you need to support your family. The same is true of the surgery. Doing it will help support your family. It is hard to get a good life insurance policy when you are morbidly obese. Think about how much your life means to them, and realize that fear is keeping you from giving them your best!
Prayers for you as you consider changing your life!

I would LOVE to lose too much weight! A girl can dream. But more important is being healthy and feeling good.

I was "eating" Protein shakes one week out. At two weeks out, I was able to eat yogurt and refried Beans.
I wouldn't cheat, there is no reason to risk a leak. Plus, it's a slippery slope and isn't that what got us here in the first place? Sorry to preach, I need to hear it too.

Sorry to hear it, it was a life changing decision for me - and quite literally SAVED my life.
No one can guarantee that something won't go wrong but it's almost a sure bet that something WILL go wrong if you don't lose the excess weight.
Talk it over with docs, loved ones, spiritual advisors, friends family - what have you. It's YOUR decision.

Bariatric surgery today is light years ahead of where it was even a few years ago. I too thought that mortality stats, complication stats were very high until i went to my information seminar. My chances of dropping dead were much higher doing nothing that lying on my surgeons operating table. In a very short amount of time I now have lost so much that I no longer would qualify for surgery at my Dr.s office.
I wish you courage to make the changes for a healthier life - surgery or no surgery. I was scared to death, but it is bar none, the best decision i have ever made in my life. Prior to vsg - every day was fear - now those days are getting brighter

Sorry to hear this. I personally was more afraid of going the rest of my life without living than I was of a minuscule chance of not making it through surgery.

Instead of being a chicken, why don't you call the office and reschedule and just go and ask the surgeon questions that you are afraid of. Give it a chance and don't let your anxiety get you down.

If you have to.. Do it! I let it freak me out too haha i was crying my eyes out being wheeled into surgery (1 month ago next week!) and I had every scenario bouncing around in my head... I woke up and I was fine! There are definitely a few horror stories but most aren't! Be prepared, but in all honesty I wouldn't sweat it easy for me to say now, but I wish I wouldn't have been so upset before..

I have become obsessed! I am on here multiple times every day. Though I've learned so much about the sleeve surgery, I am starting to freak myself out now. My surgery is scheduled for October 11th! I am confident that I am making the right decision for me. But I must admit this past week has been really stressful. I am such a control freak and the fear of the unknown is driving me crazy. All the positive experiences that people are having are very encouraging. However the horror stories aren't helping my nerves right now. Combine that with all that I have to do at work before I go out and I'm a mess. :-( I've prayed about it over and over and over again. I know I'll be just fine! I will be happy to report back to you guys when I'm on the other side. Thanks for everything sleeve fam!

I bought the Unjury Protein chicken broth. It really helped to "eat" it at night so I felt like I was having a savory meal. It also gave me a chance to have something other than a sweet Protein Drink. I also added Decaf instant coffee to my chocolate Protein Drinks to take the sweet edge off.

I don't sip much anymore, but I can't chug like I used to either. I can take a few big gulps of Water when I'm really thirsty, but I fill up much faster than I used to. If I gulp too much I can get temporarily uncomfortable.

I'm headed towards 2 years post-op. It took me over 2 months to get back to the point that I didn't frrl crappy. Between the heartburn, nausea and general malaise I was tired and could not sleep. I never really had any pain, just felt like crap. After 2 months I started to feel better and after about 5 months I started to exercise which really started to improve my feelings. About 6 months out I could eat pretty well and after 1 year I could eat anything I want, just not much of it.

I've been off track too, my surgery date was March 6. Today I cut out the carbs (again) and ate sensibly. I also got 20 mins on the elliptical, first time in forever. I really haven't exercised at all since surgery.
Over the past few days, I've been thinking long and hard about where I am. I've lost 45 pounds, and I look "normal" and feel fabulous! But, I didn't go to all that effort to stop here.
I decided that I was on a liquid diet for a week prior to surgery and two weeks after, I CAN start over, drop the bad carbs, and exercise a little because I now have experience with RESULTS that I have never experienced before.
So, I don't know how it will turn out, but I am in the same place you are and today I pulled up my bootstraps...you can too!
I'll say a prayer that we both find our motivation to go the distance!

Hey Everyone! I had my 9 month check up today...and I have met my goal!!! I literally shed a tear as I looked at the BMI chart and saw that I was in the "healthy" range! I went from a BMI of 36 to 23, size 16WP (women's petite) to a 4P, and from 208lbs to 125lbs in 9 months. Although I've had my up's and downs, I love my new body and life! I also know the journey isn't over...it's now a lifestyle. So keep striving, working, and reaching those goals everyone! Much love!

I would guess that she may have some underlying jealousy issues with your surgery? If this person had your best interest in mind, then she would have been supportive to you at this point.
This is what this site is all about. We are all here for each other and there is always someone on this forum who can answer any question(s) you ask. Don't even bother yourself with trying to get advice from that person. Just laugh it off that you know a secret about them that they don't know you know...lol!

Nope, I wouldn't say a word. I have friends that have had surgery and I don't talk to them about it. One specifically because she lied so bad about it and that was an unsolicited lie. I think if she would have wanted you to know she would have told you.

I wouldn't change a thing! I am so happy with my progress, but I have learned at 6 months post op that carbs are still bad for me and they mess up my hormones. I wish I wouldn't have let the carb-creep happen so quickly.
I wish I had made this decision 10-15 years ago.
