Nausea And Pooping
I'm almost two weeks post-op I have experienced some nausea. My doc gave me nausea pills that dissolve on my tongue, and I have used those twice, so stop the nausea after taking my Vitamin. I have always suffered from constipation, and I think my acid reflux is worse when I am. I've taken Milk of Magnesia twice since surgery to relieve it. I don't "go" a lot, as not a lot is going in. And I agree with whomever said what goes in is what is coming out. It is all liquid thus far. I also think drinking enough Water helps with the constipation. The worst days were during the first week, and now, I feel fairly normal again, but I am looking forward to non-liquid food in the next couple of days!

Best Yogurt Ever! 8-)
Greek yogurt is higher in protein that regular yogurt. Don't know if they have it where you are, Sally, but worth looking into.

Tell Me I'm Not Crazy
I don't know with your BMI, but I started at 220 lbs and I am 5' 2" which made my BMI 40. I have lost 14 pounds in 2-1/2 weeks and I do feel much better. Have you considered trying a week or two weeks of the liquid diet to see if you can lose anything that way? It would not hurt to meet with a surgeon and get some advice before making a decision. Best of luck to you!

2 Days Post Op- Worst Feeling Ever
fitbottom, My first thought is to be certain you take the liquid Tylenol on schedule and don't let the paid get ahead of you. I am 11 days post op (with a hernia & diaphragm repair too) and I am still taking the pain meds two or three times a day. I get a heavy/full feeling in my abdomen, and sometimes I just generally ache. The pain med staves off the ache, which does help with a general feeling of well being. The day I turned the corner was day 6, and it was after I made myself choke down a second Protein shake for the day. I had only been drinking one up to that point. The additional protein really helps. This is more difficult than I expected, but alas, it is not insurmountable. Hang in there, and be sure to get the help you need from your doctor to feel better. Oops, "pain" not "paid"

All Over The Place Tryin To Fix What Is "wrong"
Desertmom, how many days from surgery are you? The first few were the most difficult, but I'm 11 days post-op and I am starting to feel a little more normal. But all of the things you mentioned I am still experiencing intermittently. I also had to add Milk of Magnesia because I wasn't able to go to the bathroom. That has helped with the reflux and discomfort.

So So Hungry...this Is Embarassing
Thanks for all of your advice. I did drink more Water today, and that helped. I also took a nap in my car at lunch time, that helped too. Tonight I had cream of potato soup, probably not the best choice, but my list does say I can have creamed soups. I avoided the chunks, but I guess I could have blended them. I haven't had anything but Protein shakes for almost three weeks, so the soup was fabulous!

So So Hungry...this Is Embarassing
I am on day 9 post op, and I am so hungry that I can't really think about anything else. I guess I thought the hunger would go away. I'm taking 2 pepcid daily, so this shouldn't be acid. Does this mean the sleeve is not going to work for me? I'm ready to cry.

Nsv Sure Does Help With The Healing Process
Wow, Deb, very inspiring. I can relate on so many levels. Being 9 days post op, although I am missing the food, I am happy to be gaining the emotional time to think about something other than what I am gonna eat next.

I've Been A Bad Girl...
Rhap, I 've been wondering how you are doing. A mis-step does not make you a bad girl! Please remember that, it is the all-or-nothing thinking that gets us overweight in the first place. I had surgery on the same day as you, and I too can take normal sized drinks and I can keep drinking and drinking the protein shakes. I am hopeful that this is a normal part of healing and when we add some food, we will feel full. Hang in there!

Day 2 Help
I am on day 8 post op, and I felt very much of what you are feeling until day 6, when I suddenly started to feel better. That gas is insane, and kept rolling all around making me so uncomfortable. I had to walk around to get Water or the Protein shake to go down. It hurt. On day 6 (this past Monday) I became able to drink more than 1 oz of a Protein Shake over the course of 1/2 hour. I'm even a tad hungry, and now I am worried I haven't lost my "hunger." Bummer.

Bm After Surgery
I used Milk of Magnesia about 4 days post op, it worked, and I have been regular since then; I am now 7 days post op. Frankly, I think it helped with the gas, once I started going regularly, I haven't had as much gas. May have been a fluke, but I feel better.

Couch To 5-K
Well, I downloaded the app a long time ago, and I have an android phone, so I had to put music in to be playing while walking/running. Otherwise, I would only hear silence and the cues ("run" "walk" "whatever"). I don't know if the app works the same way still...

Couch To 5-K
OK, I have a "friend" the "fried" is probably my subconscience talking...
-
Couch To 5-K
I downloaded the app, set up my music, but alas, never donned my shoes. I have a fried who did, and she found that she was able to keep up with the runs since they are so progressive. I am now 7 days post op, and still not ready to run, but in another couple of weeks, I may join you...since I do have that playlist ready, and all! Good luck!

Shoulder Pain
Hi All, I am on day 7 post op, and I still have some pain in my left shoulder. I have read here that someone had a leak and the only symptom was shoulder pain. My pain is not a constant pain; it happens most often when I burp, then it is a sharp pain in the middle of the front of my shoulder. Most of my other gas symptoms are gone, I don't have the rolling inside that I did yesterday and before. I have taken my temperature daily, and there has been no fever. Should I be alarmed that this pain may be the only symptom of a leak? Today I am starting to feel much more alive, I just don't want to miss a symptom. Any thoughts are appreciated.
