questions
My out of pocket for the year was $ 2500.00 with my insurance and that is what I had to pay. My sister did not have to pay anything. She had to do a sleep study, meet with a dietician and then a psych exam before they approved her surgery. But, they did cover the whole thing. Every policy is different. Like Joyce said, maybe you won't have to pay it all up front.

questions
I was banded by Dr. Speigel in Aug 03 and had to pay $ 2500.00 up front. My sister just had the surgery by him and has BCBS and just had to pay her $ 20.00 deductible for the first office visit. She was very lucky and has wonderful insurance. BTW, I am involved in doing a commercial for him on Thursday. I was on one before...Hope all goes well and good luck:-)

Curves!
I went about 2 weeks ago to our Curves and they wanted $ 160.00 just to sign up! That was crazy to me! Did u have to do that? One in another city close by waived the sign up fee if you brought in 10 can goods, but the one close to me said that if I signed up in another city I could not work out at that one. However, the other one in the other city said that I could. Never got the same answer from either Curves. I would like to join but it is crazy to me that you have to pay $ 160.00 just to sign up....Good Luck to you!!

Just checking in!
Thanks Alexandra!! Actually I was digging in my closet and getting rid of clothes and finding some that I haven't worn lately. I can't wait until August of this year to see what happens at my year mark! I am more excited about that this year then my own birthday. Well I better get to work:-)

I'm new!!
Don't worry !! I am copying my answer from another thread...... I just wanted to add that my Dr. said that the little part of the stomach at the top above that band will not stretch. The pt's that have the RNY either have a bigger pouch then us or their pouch is further down where the stomach will stretch. Every dr may say something different, just wanted to add what mine said...hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just checking in!
First of all Thanks Vera for checking in on me!! I haven't been posting alot lately, but I have been reading!! March 20th was my 7 month out from surgery. I have lost a total of 50ish pounds. Got on the scale just now and it said 183 but I fluctuate between 183 and 185. My last fill was Jan 9th and no way am I ready for another. I figure I am averaging 7 lbs a month. I am hoping to lose another 35 in the next 5 months. That will be my year mark. I am glad everyone is doing well. I kinda went through a don't want to talk about the band stage because I felt like I should be losing more. I told myself in 2 weeks I will weigh and see what the scale says. Take care everyone!

August Bandsters Reunion
Hello Everyone!! February 20th will be 6 months for me and I have lost between 35-37 lbs. My last fill was Jan 9th and I have lost between 5-7 lbs since then. I am not planning on getting a fill since I have been having a hard time eating. I guess I am kinda content where I am at. I think the fill is getting a little tighter as the time passes. My weight chart says I need to loose another 40 lbs, but sometimes I think the chart is nuts. Time will tell. Glad to hear everyone is well. Take care!!!!!!

Cabin fever, anyone?
How funny for you to post about drinking when you normally don't. I am not a drinker, but the other night we went to eat at Texas Roadhouse and guess what ended up on my ticket...yep, a strawberry daiquiri and a watermelon margarita....Boy were they good. I guess stress really got to me this week; I was very easily agitated. Then guess what, mother nature came for a visit....explains the agitation. Are your kids old enough to play cards like UNO or Go Fish or any other games? Best of luck to you and if you do get a margarita take a drink for me and I will do the same!!!! Take Care...your bandtwin...

questions about the tests before surgery
Didn't know which section to post this under so I posted it here! My sister is looking into getting the lap band and her insurance will cover it 100% after she gets a dietician evaluation, sleep study and psych evaluation. Her question is what goes on during these test. I am banded but did not have to do any of these prior to being banded, so I am really no help to her about these topics. So any replies will be wonderful!!!!! THANKS..

Having a time with meat
I am not a seafood eater, but I will eat Luby's fish. I have not thought of that as a good protien, but it is!! I can handle a fish stick if there is not any black in it; so I am definetly going to get some and see if they will go down. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that has a hard time with meat. Not that I am glad that you can't eat meat, just to know that I am not the only one. I hope all goes well for you...and me in that case. Thanks to everyone that has helped me along my way...It is weird that people I have never met have a special place in my heart.

Having a time with meat
Maybe I am not losing because I am not eating a whole lot. What is the best thing I can do for getting my protein in? I guess I could do more ground meat suppers instead of grilled meat. Do you think is is possible for me to be 35 lbs lighter in 6 months?
