  1. I am trying to decide on a place too and am not sure who to go with. Those fees are insane though. Thank you for the info.
  2. I am trying to figure out which protein to use too. I keep reading about UNJURY but everyone seems to think it tastest awful. I am also going to try and make a few more payments before my surgery so I can take out less for the loan.
  3. YEah I agree that there are people who have great luck with the band. I have a friend who loves hers and she has had it since 2007. She lost weight and kept it off. I know she gets stuck and pukes a lot though. IMO that would just suck even if you were successful with it.
  4. Thank you Becca. Your progress is awesome! I thought I remembered reading somewhere on here that the bariatric center at the Mayo Clinic doesn't use lap-bands anymore because of the high failure rate? It is such a waste of money (in my experience).
  5. Impatiently counting down the days to get rid of this crap-band. I am sitting here on a Saturday morning trying to enjoy some scrambled eggs. First bite and I am stuck and in so much pain! I HATE IT! The thing that sucks about my band is that the first bite always gets stuck and then nothing after that. No restriction, nothing! This POS can't get out of me fast enough.
  6. THank you both so much for your replies. I didn't even think that a buffet could help. That is true though so you can pick and choose what you can have. Being that we will be on the ocean I am going to try and stock up on fish and shrimp and maybe some fruit. Thanks again ladies.
  7. It was in my case with two different docs. I can't imagine they would tack that on to the quoted price.
  8. Sorry to post this in this forum area. I wasn't sure where else to post it. I will be getting my sleeve in May and going on vacation (to celebrate the big 4-0) in October. I wanted to hear from some of you on how you deal with vacations while sleeved. I will be a few months out so it will be up to me to work my sleeve and remain in control. We are staying at an adult only all-inclusive resort so the food and drinks will be flowing. I know it is a ways off but I am already worried about how to deal with this situation. Thank you for letting me rant.
  9. Hey everyone. I'm Stephanie. 39 years. 5'4 and 230. Totally looking forward to my lap-band removal and getting the sleeve. I'm scheduled with Dr. Aceves on May 11.
  10. Wow I totally could've written this post. My surgery is in May and I love my wine and the social cigarette. It's scary to think that it will all be gone, I agree. The advice you've received is awesome. I plan to revisit this thread the closer I get to my date. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Fantastic! Can't wait to post this same story in a few months!!!
  12. That is terrifying. I'm so glad to hear that you are ok and on the mend. Good luck to you.
  13. Glad to hear you are feeling well. Are you talking about thong underwear or flip-flops?
  14. Hi April. I'm getting a band to sleeve revision in May and I can't wait. Are you ready? You're just a week out.
  15. Hey all. I'm scheduled for May 11. I can't wait. Unobaby - why eight weeks?
  16. I will be there on the 11th. Can't wait to get a fresh new start on life.
  17. Thank you so much for this thread. My boyfriend and I have been reading about Dr. Aceves and everything has been positive. I'm so glad that I'm choosing him to do my revision surgery.
  18. Congrats and good luck! My surgery is scheduled for May 11th so I will be following your recovery.
  19. Thanks for this thread. I just found out what bougie was about 12 hours ago. lol I emailed my surgeon and he uses a 36 and also sews over teh staples. I am really looking forward to May 11!
  20. Prayers coming your way. Please update us when you are done. Good luck to you.
  21. I was quoted the same prices as Joyce less than a week ago. I chose Dr. Aceves because he seems to be the expert on revisions. I was banded by Ortiz in 2009 and he is fantastic but for a revision I wNt to go to the best.
  22. You are stunning! Great job.
  23. Thank you for the encouraging words. Your progress is amazing. Wow. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I am actually on my way to being healthy and thin again. It is scary but exciting at the same time.
  24. I am having mine with Dr. Aceves at Almater. Are you nervous? I am. Sometimes I read too much. lol
