How Long After Surgery Could You Drive?
Wow! That is great! It amazes me how different everyone and their doctors requirements are. For example I had to lose 12 pounds preop...that was my preop diet...post op I am on liquids for 3 wks, mushies for 3 weeks then week 6 I can start solids...no fill til week 6. Dr wants scar tissue to heal.

Perfect!!! Hubby is out of town on post op day 4. But I have a 13 yo boy for heavy lifting, an 11 year old girl for other things and a 5 year old girl, probably for emotional support (hugs ) None can drive though!!! Lol. Thank you! I am way less stressed about recovery now!

How To Bring Lap Up To My Doctor?
My dr was "I have patients who succeed and fail". She was kinda like yeah it's out there...want some metformin? So I went to the seminar, found out I needed a letter so I called the office and asked for one, told them this is what I am doing and need a letter stating there is not a medical reason why I should not have it done. Looking back and after talking to the surgeon about how the lapband is a PERSONaL tool. in that office when I brought it up I should have said about the other people...but I am asking for ME!!! Would you recommend it for ME? Is there a medical reason you would not recommend it for ME???? They are not lap band drs so it is only their opinion and interpretation of the compiled data...they only need to give input on how it will affect YOU and relate to YOUR other health issues!

Cancelling Surgery?
My mom had a terrible experience. Hers slipped, but in my journey I am able to see what she did wrong! First off she went to Mexico. Probably had a sample implanted. Go talk to your surgeons coordinator about the things this gal brought up. See if there are ways to avoid those pitfalls. Everybody has a different outlook and different experience just like in childbirth. What is right for you is right for you. Write your pros and cons list. Then talk to the specialists not the gossips. Be informed not impressioned by others. Make up your own mind. Because one bad story weighs no more than another persons good story! What is YOUR story!

I'm Scared...
Go to the general lap band tab then read the "not measurable results" forum. I love it! Reasons why we all want it! Dig deep and post yours! Can anyone say group therapy!!!! It is wonderful!

Banded At 6Cc's
Remember...Soup is a liquid it will just go through your band. Not supposed to have liquids with meals as it will flush food out of your lapband pouch. Most soups are full of high calories too.

Non Measurable Results From Lap Band
Love it all! I want to wear a skirt without having my inner thighs rub together and chaff. I want to never ever again want to wear mens clothing, or jackets because they fit better! I want to be able to roll over in bed without propping myself and turning with my arms. I want to be on top! I want to wear heels and be able to walk the next day without back pain! I want to make eye contact with strangers and not have their eyes drop to my tummy. I want to wear tank tops I want to be able to shave my legs...all of them clear up to where they start without having to strain to see what I am doing perkin over around and through my fat! I want to eat to live not live to eat. I want to be able to wear a thong or go comando and not think people who might notice are saying ewe...or have to dig it out later! I want to ride a bike. I want to be able to do yard work without pain. I want to live.

Need Encouragement From People That Understand
Don't forget as you lose weight your stomach gets smaller too so if the band is not restricting it isn't working! Great job on the 73 though! Go look at your before picture to help you remember your journey and appreciate your accomplishment!

How Is This Supposed To Feel??
Here is the thing...Post surgery prefill is all about healing. You are likely to gain weight. It's ok! But before your appointment log everything you eat so the doctor can know and gauge what you are eating and can fill you accordingly. If you lie and say I am eating small meals...he will only give you a small fill but if you are actually eating large meals and tell him the truth he is more likely to give you more of a fill because you need more restriction. Does that make sense?

To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...
I think one thing we all do not do is make time for ourselves. One of the reasons a lot of us are overweight. We put our energies into our kids and our husbands needs etc. We need to take the time to plan our meals, to sit and eat our meals, not running on the go. Time for us! It seems selfish, but I have come to realize it is necessary. Necessary for us to do otherwise we will not be happy, will not succeed in our personal goal and will shorten our own lives because we did not take the time. There are only so many hours in the day, yes...I know this all to well. My husband is self employed, we have 3 kids, 17 acres of land and farm to manage on top of it all. I am the worst...my needs come last. But getting banded is step one if reclaiming ME! Take the time!
