  1. I had my gallbladder out last July and sleeve surgery with Dr Kelly in march. I didn't think to ask either but my sleeve incisions were much higher. I even have one right on the bra line between my breasts!
  2. Not only didn't I tell my work (took vacation time) I didn't tell anyone but my husband, my sister (who was sleeved the same day) and my sisters husband. I went to Mexico and everyone thinks I was in San Diego on vacation. I'm 3 months post op, down 42 lbs, and just tell anyone who asks, I'm counting calories and exercising (true).
  3. Wow! Its not brain surgery! Spend what you can afford and don't assume your choice is any better than the next persons. Its a little crazy for someone who is preop to paint themselves as an expert. Too funny!
  4. You will do great. I had surgery with Dr Kelly in march and have never had a second of regret. My sister also got sleeved the same day right after me and is also doing great. Its a new experience to get out your summer clothes and nothing fits. But because it's too big instead of too small!!! Good luck!
  5. I don't think you can make a bad choice in Mexico. All of the doctors there have alot of experience! Remember just because a doctor charges more it doesn't mean he's better than the others. The price is really dependant on what the facility charges. I went to Dr Kelly and had a great experience, my sister and I booked together and got a great price. I'm sure we would have done fine with whoever we chose. I'm glad I didn't spend more than I needed to. Good Luck
  6. My sister used them for her surgery with Dr Kelly. The interest rate is a little high but she hasn't had any problems with them.
  7. The best advice I have gotten here (maybe from Lissa?) was to under eat your sleeve. That's my goal now at every meal. When I don't, I pay for it. You made a great decision for yourself! I get such a kick out of people who think this is the "easy" way. What idiots!lol
  8. This will be my first mothers day without my mom also. My dad also let us know he has a new 53 y/o girlfriend (he is 70) that he will be going to visit on Sunday. The urge to stuff food in my face has been almost overwhelming. We will get thru it. Probably with lots of tears, but we will get thru it!
  9. Congratulations! Isn't that the best feeling! Especially when you will never visit "twoterville" again!
  10. I made the decision to keep my sleeve a secret from everyone but my husband and sister (who was sleeved at the same time). I have been doing really well and feeling so good these past 2 months, I feel really guilty when I see overweight friends or friends of friends. It's like I discovered the cure for cancer and I'm keeping it to myself! I went to MX because I had a low BMI & no co-morbidities,so insurance was not an option. Maybe one day when I reach my goal I will feel comfortable sharing the truth.
  11. I hope you find someone:) I just wanted to say good luck. I was sleeved by Dr Kelly on 3/9 and it has been great from day 1. I never had pain, nausea, haven't been immune to the stalls but I have lost 33 lbs so far!
  12. Good Luck! I will be thinking of you and praying for you tomorrow.
  13. I had problems with my IV too. My sister is a nurse and she said the needles they use in MX are much bigger. I'm not sure because I couldn't look!
  14. Yes, and the hotel also has a couple of computers in the lobby you can use to print boarding passes.
  15. Woo Hoo! So glad you are doing well. I have been thinking about you and checking in here for updates! You made it through the hard part, its all downhill from here. I can't wait to start hearing about your losses!
  16. My sleeve tells me when I have eaten too much! I get a terrible pain in my side. Once I take that extra bite or two, its too late. If your sleeve tolerated it, I'd say you didn't over do it.
  17. I think I finally may have found the "sweet spot"! I've lost 6.5 in the last 2 weeks. I might actually be in the 180's in the next week or so. It's been at least 10 years since I have been under 190! I upped my calories to 700. Try to exercise a few times a week and log EVERYTHING on myfitnesspal. If I eat 1 cheese puff, I log it! I'd love to lose 40 more lbs (maybe more) so I hope this keeps up for a while!
  18. You look so pretty! It was 87 here in Pittsburgh today! Crazy!
  19. And I'm a "slow loser" who has had a couple of long stalls. Just wanted to give the pre-op something to think about! :)
  20. I took the money out of my ira and paid the penalty. My sister got a loan from one of the companies that advertise here. MedLoans maybe?? I think they approve everyone but your interest rate will depend on your credit score so it could be a little high. If you paid cash for your house, you should have a ton of equity and be able to get a small home equity loan for a much lower interest rate. I will just say, what ever you have to do, its worth it! Also, there are a couple of docs who are still under $5000.
  21. So excited for you! See you on the losers bench!
