  1. I was sleeved 3/9. 7 months ago today and after losing 60, I have not lost a lb in the last month. I heard about the 6 month honeymoon period but this is ridiculous! I have 15-20 lbs to get to goal Off to zumba to try and sweat off a few ounces!
  2. Are you on a very restricted diet in the days before surgery? Can you disconnect the pump and still take humulog injections if you need them? You are going to have to be testing like crazy for those 12 hrs.

    Chin flab :(

Someone else mentioned YouTube videos to me also. I am going to have to check that out. Eventually it is going to be too warm for turtlenecks!

    How much are you down?

Surgery on 3/9 down 69 lbs, 10 lbs to get to my personal goal. The scale has not really moved much in months but that's my fault. Back on track for the new year.
  5. They look too big! I think you could get a size smaller than your skinny friend!!
  6. I think right now Dr Garcia is about $800 less than Dr Kelly. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it . I am 6 months out from surgery with Dr Kelly and couldn't be happier!

    Loving Life

Totally agree! If you let yourself get all caught up in the numbers out can drive you insane. I am about 20lbs from goal and I jump on the scale every week or so but I am really just enjoying my life and not stressing about it!
  8. I love, love love the Mio peach tea!

    Flight Into San Diego

I arrived the evening before and stayed at the hospital. They woke me up about 6:30 am for pre-op tests and i was in surgery at 10. I stayed 2 more nights, then off to the hotel for 2 nights.

    I Am Crying...

Thank you guys  . I'm so happy I made the decision to have the surgery. Best thing I ever did for myself and my family.
  11. You will do great. I had surgery with Dr Kelly in march and have never had a second of regret. My sister also got sleeved the same day right after me and is also doing great. Its a new experience to get out your summer clothes and nothing fits. But because it's too big instead of too small!!! Good luck!

    Running Out Of Options

I took the money out of my ira and paid the penalty. My sister got a loan from one of the companies that advertise here. MedLoans maybe?? I think they approve everyone but your interest rate will depend on your credit score so it could be a little high. If you paid cash for your house, you should have a ton of equity and be able to get a small home equity loan for a much lower interest rate. I will just say, what ever you have to do, its worth it! Also, there are a couple of docs who are still under $5000.
  13. Good luck on Thursday! I think you will be pleasantly suprised at how nice TJ is. INT and the Lucerna are in a very nice part of town. You will have a beautiful little balcony off your hotel room, either overlooking the fountain out front or the gorgeous pool area. Its a very nice place to recover. Trish will pray with you, make you laugh and just put you totally at ease

    Lets Talk About This Drain

I didn't have a drain with my vsg surgery but I had a breast reduction previously and had one on each side! It want painful per say but I did almost pass out when they were removed. Had I not been laying down, I would have hit the floor! Is the drain really nessesary? Not all Dr's use them so maybe you can request that they don't put one in you!

    Sleeved And Feeling Great!

Enjoy the hotel! The beds are super comfy! The tortilla broth and popscicles in the cafe are good too:)

    Eating Myself To Death

The great thing is, you won't want those things. I can't even tolerate the smell of fried food, I am too afraid to stretch my sleeve to even take a sip of soda and by the time I eat my protein, I rarely can or want to eat any carbs. I just don't want you to feel like you are going to be deprived at all. You are going to be so thrilled!

    Eating Myself To Death

I was so tempted to do that! Instead I started my pre-op diet early! The thing is, you are NOT giving up all your favorite foods forever. I am 6 wks out and can eat anything. My sister and I had the sleeve together and last weekend we went on a double date w/our hubbies. We went to a great chinese place, ordered what we wanted, ate until we were full and got to enjoy the leftovers for a few more meals. We ordered pizza the other day and I had a few bites of crust then ate the toppings. You will still be able to eat what you are craving but you will have a few bites, be satisfied and full, then go on with your life. That ,my dear, is the magic of the sleeve!
  18. I love the slimfast low carb. 20 g protein, 4 g carb, 2 g sugar. You can get them at Sams Club. They are 180 cals. I have a hard time getting in my calories so I drink one of these for breakfast everyday.

    When Did You Eat Salad?

Pre sleeve I loved salad! I tried a few bites of a salad when I was out to dinner last weekend (got the soup and salad combo:) and it just didn't taste good. Maybe because I chewed the heck out of it. I think I will wait a few weeks and try again.

    Well I Survived

The swelling in your hand is most likely just IV fluid under the skin. I had that problem, it will just take a day or two for the body to absorb it. I'm glad you are doing well!
  21. I had my surgery on a Friday and went back to work the next Monday. I have an active job, no sitting! I was tired when I got home the first few days but it was fine. I also went back to work one week after my gallbladder surgery. Everyone is different and you just have to listen to your body. I have always been a high energy person who hates to sit down! I would say its better to err on the side of caution! Good Luck .L
