  1. ROFL... way to go !! i bet that made your day !!..hahahaha...
  2. goodness me... im sorry you had to go through that. It must have been awful it the morphine didnt touch it. How are you now?
  3. i reckon. Perhaps she had a bad experience with it all. i certainly didnt have any issues.
  4. no way. i bought mine from a chemart.
  5. can you make up some really tasty soup for yourself? i did, i used pumpkin as a base, added some mild salsa, tomato paste, some soy sauce, onions, and put beef broth in as the liquid. It was so good. Im still doing it in fact, its winter here and soup is on the go. I found that what i was lacking in substance i could make up for with taste, and it helped me a lot. I hope you come up with something that satisfies you more.
  6. i know what you are going through. my belly was hard and distended as well. I had lots of intestinal gas which crippled me some days. i had problems with BM as well... it was not an easy time. i found that once i reached about three weeks post op that things moved quickly to settle again, which was great. Good on you for using the treadmill... way to go. This period will be gone before you know it. I know how miserable i felt for a while. Also, before i forget, I was using skim milk when i was making up my shakes. Before, ive never had milk at all. In fact i dont think cows milk is good for us, but anyways... i started using it in the shakes. My goodness, i had so much bad pain that i thought my gall bladder was acting up . i had to go to bed really early one night, think it all through what could i have done wrong? i knew it was to do with what i was eating and drinking. Then i remembered about the skim milk and stopped it immediately. Within 24 hours the pain had gone. that was a lesson for me. I still need to use laxatives, that will take a while i think. Ive never heard of the enzyme for digestion that you mention here... where did you buy it?/
  7. ye. i have thoughts. it became a reality for me when i was able to walk without pain. When i was able to get in and out of the car without being slow and awkward.. when i looked in the mirror and saw my own natural features staring back at me for the first time in nearly twenty years. When i get up of a morning and feel really positive that i can cope now with my responsibilities. Its been wonderful. Plus ive had numerous comments on my appearance which has helped to buoy me up immensely.
  8. no way is this surgery as bad as a c-section. i never needed any help to get out of a chair, a lounge or off the bed.
  9. hang in there... this will pass. congratulations on the beginning of your new journey.
  10. ive read where sometimes the band can loosen somewhat later in the day. Also, having a hot drink before hand, or having some alcohol helps to ease it as well.
  11. my dr told me that the gastric sleeve surgery can be abused just the same, and once it is abused there is nothing that can be done about it. I would get in touch with a support group and a nutritionalist if i were you. Its such a shame that you went through all that preparation and surgery just to end up doing the same thing as before. How long were you planning the surgery before you had it done? was there evaluations and everything that goes with pre op?? im in australia and didnt go through all that. Werent you prepared for the reality of the surgery? i think you need to deal with that because that same mind set will get in the way even with a gastric sleeve.. with no chance of getting it fixed.
  12. lol... these times will come along a guess. i had lunch with my brother and sister in law yesterday. they know im dieting and under a nutritionalist but know nothing about the bad. i ordered a bowl of soup. what came out was tomato with small chunks of chicken , noodles, you name it i had it.In fact it was tomato stew. i couldnt eat it. i was one day out from a fill and even the slightest morsel sets me off. i had to leave the bowl. My brother and his wife did wonder what was going on with me. it was a huge bowl as well. I was disappointed that it was nowhere near like what i cook at home for myself. oh well. live and learn. lol.
  13. Ive just bought some smoked cod. im hoping that isnt dry...any suggestions on how to cook it? ive just used some water in the past.
  14. Did you dr say why he was so insistant on having it removed? having a gastric revision done is a biggie.
  15. Im having a glass of red wine nearly every night and im still losing over a pound a week. i honestly dont want to lose any faster than that. im 66, and already over 7 weeks have lost a 1/4 of my body weight. Im quite happy with the way things are going and so is my specialist. Im still on liquids and soups... 2nd day out from my first fill.
  16. i had a fill on wednesday and there is swelling for sure. i had liquids yesterday and even that was a bit hard.. but hot liquid did help a bit. today im on thicker soup and even that, plus protein drink with banana, is hard going down. not backing up but just a tad sore? im staying on soups for another couple of days. i want everything to settle down properly before i go onto solids again.
  17. i use Dulcolax suppositories. i would like to start adding some metamucil, it sounds like i may be able to.... just not large amounts at once. i was concerned about it swelling in the pouch as it has husks in it and is a bulking agent.
  18. well i think that you needed to wait that time out before trying anything more solid. What i did... i mixed baked potatoes etc in with my mushies and while no one else would eat it, i made sure it was sloppy enough and ate it. I had the taste which was most important for me. YOu need to take it very slowly. Im six weeks out from surgery now and i still have a lot of Soups. i put lots of yummy things in it but its still a very staple part of my diet. I had a fill yesterday, 1st one, and today im on soups. im having clear beef brother every three hours... just a half cup. I think that you have pushed yourself too soon. My body would never have allowed me to do that. AS it was i had more than one experience with food getting into difficulties , and i learned from that. It is a really hard time that you go through and its not called ''band hell' for nothing... but, believe me, it will pass quickly enough. You need to give your body time to heal properly. Obviously its not ready for what you have had to eat .... so back off the solids and go back onto mushies . If its too bland try mixing some salsa, garlic powder etc into it. that may help your taste buds a bit. i hope you do well.
  19. i know that treatment is rather gross but it does the trick. Im glad that you have the suppositaries. Im sure you will find them o.k. once you get used to using them. i use them a lot. Especially since banding, as i dont want to upset my whole digestive system. You will find that the suppositaries will move the wind as well. Can i ask you... what is the name of the suppositaries that you have??
  20. well put.
  21. im sorry that he is being like this with you but im wondering if he is feeling quite insecure now. Men are like that a lot. it well could be that he is feeling that you are going to be losing weight and he is going to be left behind. Men have funny ways of looking at things sometimes.
  22. ive had a couple of glasses of wine a week, sometimes i water it down quite a bit. im still losing over a pound a week, which suites me fine. its not causing me to eat more so far. im not advocating that its good to have alcohol but i do have a few glasses a week and its fine so far.
  23. i hear ya. !! lol
  24. thats the weight we talked about for me originally but we have decided on 160. i guess it will depend for me on how i feel and how i look at that. im 66. im a 1/4 way to my weight loss goal now. Its been 7 weeks.
  25. ...just a suggestion ... could you try laxative suppositaries?? i use them what i need something at the moment. that way it doesnt affect my whole digestive system, and its helped me.
