  14. no, its greater than 40 and 50. It teeters on 59/60 (depending on the height chart). I have not done Jenny Craig, but briefly did WW and have been w/TOPS since 88 (same as WW but cheaper)..
  15. here is what I got off the Tricare page today: Bariatric Surgery TRICARE will cost share any of the following open or laparoscopic bariatric surgical procedures: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass Vertical banded gastroplasty Gastroplasty (stomach stapling) Adjustable gastric banding (i.e., adjustable LAP-BAND®) If you meet all of the following conditions: You're at least 18 years old or you provide documentation of completion of bone growth. You were unsuccessful with non-surgical medical treatments for obesity. Your medical records must show your failed attempts. Diet programs, such as Weight Watchers®* and Jenny Craig*, are acceptable methods of dietary management, as long as there's medical documentation of participation and monthly clinical visits with your doctor. *These programs aren't covered by TRICARE. Physician-supervised programs made-up of only weight-loss medication management, don't meet this requirement. [*]You have proof of one of the following: A body-mass index greater than or equal to 40 kilograms per meter squared (kg/m2); or A body-mass index of 35-39.9 kg/m2 with one clinically significant comorbidity, including but not limited to, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, Pickwickian syndrome, hypertension, coronary artery disease, obesity-related cardiomyopathy, or pulmonary hypertension. 18. I was just curious about something. I work at a desk job (9-5). I was thinking when it is time for me to have surgery, to schedule it if I am able on a Tuesday and then have til the next Monday to go back to work. I recall when I had my gall bladder removed, (when I worked as a bank teller) I went back to work fairly quickly (in that time frame). Does anyone have thoughts on this?
  19. good job Jen
  20. that is great news. I am so proud of you.
  21. Hang in there Jim. This will happen for you. I just know it.
  22. Hi new comer. I am kinda new also. That first step is looking at the number on the scale. It was for me anyhow. Just get on the scale, and realize its the last time you will see that number. You can make yourself well
  23. dont forget to thank yourself for making that decision to make yourself well. I am so very proud of you. I know you will be successful (and come August, I will be right behind you)...
  24. my nutritionist told me that i'd need 70 grams of protein.....(I wish I could help you)
  25. I had to go my PCD to get a referral to my insurance for this lap band. Then I went to the seminar with the clinic I found to do the the lap band, and started all my pre-op requirements and bc of my insurance/clinic, I have to do a 6 month DR eval. I am working on my third month. Surgery is slated for me for August. I guess it depends on your insurance.
