  1. hey karen, yes i got it colored/hi lighted last weekend...i truly love it...i hate that i cannot ever get it to look like when i leave the hair salon..am i the only one who feels that way i wonder?
  2. once my ins approved me (and gave me a 3 month window time frame to have it done), my lap band dr had me in and we scheduled the date and from day i found out i was approved to surgery was about 3 weeks. (i had to get my hospital pre admittance done, do a final sleep test for the cpac and then i was on the pre op diet) so those last final weeks flew by..
  3. UPDATE: well, let me say that me moving and pulling and using my upper arms to move that little red lawn mower has made my arms (sore) and that is a good thing..sorry i posted another silly success (i mean who cant mow their lawn) but that would be ME who couldnt...so yeah, i wanted to share. thanks for the great responses. i think all yall are terrific. having support is critical..
  4. at my 1 yr post op last week, i looked at the chart (like you my BMI was 62) and i noticed that i am not super morbid obese but now just morbid obese.. i can deal with that. YOU are doing super fantastic.. btw, i found this online BMI categories include: Normal BMI 19 to 24 Overweight BMI 25 to 29 Obese BMI 30 to 39 Extreme (Morbid) Obesity BMI 40 to 49 Super Morbidly Obese BMI 50+
  5. i feel honesty with ones self to acknowledge the problem lies within and bad habits CAN be undone (ie: junk food, not exercising, excuses) when one makes the decision to do something about it and WANT to change. and then do it...
  6. wraps (if its what i am thinking, non food)......you will lose mainly water weight.. if one exercises, eats good quality food and let the band do its thing, real weight loss occurs..those wraps things are not needed......same as going in a steam room.......which is what it felt like walking outside this afternoon from work....yikes
  7. correction bindi you WILL do this and you ARE doing this
  8. if you eat fast food with the sleeve, you will gain weight or not lose also...
  9. so today, after i got home from work, i did my step aerobics DVD....and it felt good......and then i went outside and chatted on the phone with amanda and hub came out to cut grass.....i hung up the phone and told hub i wanted to cut grass...so he gave me the lawn mower and up and down and up and down i went........so yeah i was wearing blue flip flops but i spent 20 min cutting the side of our house.....while hub sat in the chair and watched who would have thunk that a year post op that my 336 pound body would do a step aerobic class AND cut grass with lawn mower on the same day within an hour of each other.. this post is to say, the band WORKS i am proof
  10. SF popsicles or SF applesauce if allowed and drink a lot. (def a protein shake before you go or while you are there). There are options....YOU can control your thinking..and YOU are stronger than you know. Just do the best you can.
  11. I sat in his office and he asked me was I ever put in hospital mental ward or what other hospital stays did I have, my medical background and then went over was I sure I wanted this surgery. My dr works with my lap band doctor so he spent about 10 or 15 min going over procedure and advising me what to expect and also what I needed to expect. Was a good visit. He wrote the letter that I needed for my dr to send to insurance for approval.
  12. I still use the Whey Extreme in chocolate from Walmart. It is 14.99 per tub and has many different flavors. Cookies and crème is okay also. I mix mine with FF skim milk and drink one every morning. It is also yummy if you put in freezer and freeze til a slush like consistency or in my vitamixer and make me a wendys frosty. I love the taste. It is 28 grams per scoop plus the milk protein. I love knowing I am getting a leg up if you will on my daily protein. And like I said, I really like the chocolate taste.
  13. i wore a sundress (with a ez removable sweater) and flip flops.....
  14. do the best you can on the pre and post op diet as you deserve it....please just do what the dr advises as its in place for a reason.....it gonna get harder before it gets easier and you will need to have a strong mental attitude to get through it. hang in there.
  15. my (diet) history included WW and also TOPS...i am guessing from what my ins/dr said, as long as there is (proof) of these meetings (aka weigh ins) it would be considered proof of past dieting attempts.. GREAT job..WW is a great place to go for support.
  16. great article jean. very informative and def a direct hit.
  17. loved the article but LOVED the title to this thread.........about it being UP to YOU
  18. i would gander to guess, you would get the band that your doctor uses. i asked my dr which one and was one better than the other and he told me, he uses the allergen and he liked that one......and so its the one i have. i dont think it (matters) as long as one uses the (tool) as suggested and eat better foods/exercise, no matter which brand, you will lose weight. best of luck to whatever one you and your doctor use.
  19. ☠carolinagirl☠ commented on heynat's blog entry in heynat's Blog
i bet if you asked or told your dr, they could offer you better advice than you'd get here
  20. hey david great job on the weight loss so far keep that great attitude
  21. when i was on pre op.......my hub would drain a can of chicken soup (i liked cambells best) and mix it with my chicken broth.....it was way more tasty and doable....just an idea/suggestion
  22. yes you can...you can if you truly wanted to....you have come this far, keep going
  23. i had some this a.m. mixed with raisins/cranberries.... i just make mine with water and go slow..never had any issues maybe it was a one time/one day thing..
  24. take it easy and rest best you can.
