  1. what kind of patch? is it from the dr or walmart? sorry to sound like a hick..
  2. maybe call it battle scars for better health...
  3. i am a year post op and you cannot (see) 4 of the incisions and only a very extreme slight little line where my port is....i have not used any special cream. i guess nature is healing it......and if i ever did wear a bikini again (not hardly) i would not let that little mark bother me.....its my reminder of my friend.
  4. i can eat anything i want i just now make better choices..
  5. to me head hunger is me seeing (hub for example) eating lays bbq chips....do i want to eat them because he is? if i do, then it is head hunger.....if i am hungry, i can def tell the difference and i eat....but if i thinking i am hungry, i drink something and it usually solves the issue for me.....found that out in pre op liquid stage...def mind over matter.
  6. again, very well said.....and correct.
  7. i agree with the others, if people are (being mean to you at work) tell someone and dont stop until action is took.....can you say, lawsuit....??
  8. its your body they are your doctor if that is what you want, then yes do what is best for you....
  9. how does it physically feel the same as i was prior..except now i weigh alot less. i do not feel the band itself (but i can feel my port now) and to me that is a great thing...my little helper who gave me life back..what a wonderful friend.. the band is a pretty 3inch white necklace that sits on your tummy...it is not a miracle cure all...the main/hardest part is changing our mental game from a dieter to a eat better quality/move/exercise game now....YOU will do fine...do what works for you and that is all that matters....YOU will do just fine.....i agree, the unknown is scary..i felt that exact same way.....but what i can tell you is that if you do the best you can, you will be a success in all the aspects you wish....congrats on making a great decision to save your life...
  10. follow what your doctor advises you as you can see from the different comments some say yes and some say no....only do what you and your doctor feel is best for you...
  11. best of luck and keep positive...remember we have to walk through the darkness to get to the light of the other side
  12. probably did not hurt your chances of surgerybut the surgery is to merely ready your insides for surgery by making the liver smaller..if you (cheated) now, you may start to think its okay to cheat again and after surgery (where if you do, you could harm your inside with fresh stitches)....that being said, get right back on the diet as it is vital you do the best you can for yourself.....by cheating, you are only cheating yourself....and didnt we cheat enough on (diets) to make us get to need WLS in the first place....YOU deserve to treat yourself better.....you went through all the pre op apts and it would be a shame for you to do that to yourself....its not easy....its gonna get even tougher.....if you cant hang now, how can you hang when it gets really tough? you either want this or you dont if you want it, then follow what your doctor says... imagine where you could be a year from now......a year ago i could hardly walk and had trouble wiping my butt because i was so large..i made the choice to try one more time......i sure hope you do also.
  13. contrats to you especially on the running part. that is super fantastic. bet 6 months ago you would have no done it.....success in every word you typed. great job.
  14. i work in a 4 story office building across the hall from us was an office who moved from the first floor to the 4th floor. this lady i use to talk to all the time in the hallway/ladies room was in that office. she was as sweet as can be and she was my size/height me and her together resembled a football defense line up. i adored her as she was the nicest gal...since they moved upstairs, i rarely saw her anymore today, i passed her in the hallway, she said who are you? do i know you? i said yes, its me gloria....she said what have you done to yourself?? i told her the truth, i changed from eating junk and fast foods to fresh and started walking (i do not know her well enough to say i had surgery and frankly is no one's business) yes i had WLS to help me, but it is ME who changed what i ate and moved my body and i help the band help me eat less......so i did not fib to her..... so she said keep it up as you look great and that she was proud of me dangumit, had to go to the bathroom and fix the face.......but it was a good reason to fix the face huh?
  15. and so we are upset, why??seems to me that w/o that fill that got you upset..you are doing well...so what is the problem?
  16. i have no idea but i was hoping it would come off my A S S first as it had its own zip code there for a while....
  17. my plication is sutured and not stapled i have pictures on my blog of the band and the plication at early on post op and at 1 yr if your interested to view it.
  18. it has worked well for me so far my dr advised me that even though i have this extra (tool to help aid the band) it was still up to me to eat good food and to exercise) or no WLS would help. my own personal opinion is that it does help me feel fuller quicker and does not allow me to overeat. i am working it the best i can. ..it has literally saved my life and gave me mobility again...it works if the person works it.
  19. my own personal goal is different than the doctor's idea of a goal weight i highy doubt i will ever get to the number for my height but i will get to a number i am comfortable with and can maintain and that number is something i am aiming for....i am focused on gaining better health and not on a number.....
  20. again, how many calories are you taking in?if you take in more calories than you burn off, you will not lose and could gain. that being said, if you are walking daily and eating as you stated, if you are losing inches (clothes sizes smaller) than you are losing no matter what the scale says or does not say. only you know that answer.
  21. to lose weight, one must burn off more calories than they take/eat in..via drink/food....3500 calories is a pound...are you watching/counting calories? are you eating your allotted amount or more? the band will help you eat less but you must choose to eat food that is good for you......i also happen to agree with missy, dr sounds icky and def agree with finally free on her post also. hang in there
  22. by reading what you wrote, i believe Daddy CAN do it..and good for YOU....all the best keep up that positive attitude, it helps
