  1. Tamara, I am about 4 months out. I have 4.5 cc in a 14cc band. My doc didn't want to add any fill last week, I had lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks. But, I was just coming off a 1 month plateau. I will see what he says in two more weeks. I feel great, I excercise almost everyday and eat what I want. I even had some cake this weekend. Of course, the piece was about 1/8 of what i used to consider a piece of cake!! Keep up the good work,
  2. Yipee! THat is awesome. COngratulations

Keep sipping fluids, constantly! You are doing great -= don't stress about the scale. The fluids will help while you strive for restriction and live through bandster hell!!!
  4. I have my stats in my signature too. I harangue spot yesterday and had lost 8# in 3 weeks so they asked me to wait another 3 weeks to see if I need a fill. I ambeing hyperbigilant about foods. How long it takes to eat. Calories. Carbs and exercise. I feel some restriction but I also make 4 oz proteinand 1/4 c veggies last for 15-20 minutes. So I have 50% physical and 50% mental restriction!

Jeepers! I have typedthis story before: at my first fill the doc sticks the needle and says to the nurse " wow. Can you believe that? I hit it on the first try!". I told hinge may want to refrain from that sort of comment when the patients are awake. Hope yournext fill is better!!
  6. Hi I have a fill scheduled tomorrow. My most recent fill has me VERY close to the green zone. I have not been throwing up since the 2nd week since the last fill, and do feel satisfied with my LB portions. One quesiton, it was super hot here last week and I was at an outdoor lunch event. I had 1/2 burger patty and it did not stay down. It is the first problem I had in weeks, and no problems since. Was it the heat? Was my band tighter because of the heat? Was it plain old heat stroke?

Funny. I just had jerky this week. My advice, small small bites and chew about 4 times as long as pre-surgery.
  8. I finally felt some restriction after my third fill. The end of the first week i was definitely getting a full feeling! i was so excited. The second week, I could barely keep anything down. it did not matter what i ate, how slowly, how small bites, and even if I chewed 45 times each bite (can anyone say OVERKILL?). Now it's week three and it seems that all the restriction I was feeling is gone. I have had no issues with any foods i have eated for the last few days. A slight amount of a full feeling, but not uncomfortable. In fact about 45 minutes after i eat i am ready to eat a meal. My portions are still band-sized (about 3 oz protein and 1/4 c veggie) but I bet i could eat that about 8 times I day. I am NOT eating 8 times a day only 3 or 4 "meals". Is it common to go from some restriction to good restriction to no restriction? I see the doc again next week, should I ask for a small fill? I am kind of disheartened this last few days....Any input would help!
  9. YAY for you! One of my goals is to go to a theme park with my son and his family, i have a WAY to go...but for sure I will go next summer! Congratulations. What a fun way to celebrate your victory!
  10. I was banded in March and still have tenderness at my port area. If I don't sit up straight itstarts to verge on hurting instead of being tender. My mom would be so proud of my posture! Good luck all. In my eyes it is worth a small ouch when bending over!!!
  11. Can you pre-grill spome chicken strips for the cooler? I am not familiar with South Beach diet, but some other ideas that don't take too much cooler space (I freeze items before putting them in the cooler): string cheese, greek yogurt cups, boiled eggs, a plain hamburger patty should work (?) GOod luck!
  12. Interestingly, I learned that caffeine stimulates the pyloric valve to open which is a no no for hiatal hernias and bandsters. My band doc said no caffeine and my regular doc said 1 cup of coffee a day. I have not had any diet pepsin since 2 weeks before surgery and drink 2 cups of decaf instant coffee a day.
  13. Down 58 since surgery on 3/20. Feeling great but no restriction yet. Third fill was yesterday.
  14. There are some good websites to convert activity to calories! I started back swimming this week, I do breast stroke and side stroke laps with webbed gloves. oh my gosh, i can barely move my arms! Yikes I am out of shape too!
  15. My third fill is tomorrow and ihope to get anysense of restriction. This is torture! Good luck. We will make it but man it would be nice to feel son love from the band!!
  16. Mrs. 2012 - I had surgery March 20 and 2 fills. I still have no restriction! It drives me nuts. I eat my 4oz. Protein and 1/2 c veggies on a sandwich plate. Dinner sized plates make my meal too depressing. I consider what I am doingnow as 'active dieting'. I haven't lost much the last 5 weeks ir so. I know my daily calories have creeper up to about 1,700 a day. Hang in there! It is early in our journney. I am nit givingup onmyband!
  17. I am 3 months out and made a "piazza" for lunch. 6" flour tortilla 3 tbs homemade sauce and <1/4 cup shredded cheese. More carbs than I prefer for a meal but the taste sure hit the spot!
  18. Oh no. I don't to do the fad but wondered if there is anything to support protein before sleep helping burn fat. If so. I may add a gulp of protein drink moments before my head hits the pillow ... the protein drink the girls at work use they get from the nodiet website. I would just try those pureprotein drinks from walmart that look like a big test tube.
  19. If there is a fad diet out there, someone in my office is already doing it. Their new one is the "radio station DJ diet". THe link in the title takes you to the site. Theoretically, I feel that a "shot" of pure protein cannot hurt. I was wondering if anyone had heard of this diet, and or tried doing a small gulp of those pure protein drinks that come in the test-tube shaped containers just before bed? It doesn't seem like this would do any hard with the band. But I wonder if there is any scietific evidence that a shot of protein before bed could jumo start your metabolism. Anyone have any thoughts?
  20. Sugar free pudding cups, you can put protein powder in them. Carnation breakfast mix (no sugar) with soy milk (in the non-fridgerater section, walmart has single serve packs of 4). Crackers are a challenge for me, I have some flatbreads that I eat with cheese and meat but they really take serious chewing!
  21. I put it in proteinshakes to add protein and creaminess. Love it with dip mix also, I tale a bit and mix with pursed fruit.
  22. Good for you!! Treat yourself to a massage or something!
