@change....my doctor did not have to write a reccommendation.All insurance companies are different. Make sure that you all your insurance company to see if they can refer you to someone. You can also ask them if they will approve it as well...Happy Hunting! There is also a insurance forum....you can look there for info as well!@Spatter3.my insurance company would only pay for a center for excellence....I was happy about that!

Hey, Diane311. This forum is excellent...I am waiting on the phone call to tell me the time! We are sleeve buddies....lets stay connected.... @Changefromwithin.find a hospital or doctor that will do the surgery and make a appointment. At that appointment they will discuss your next steps. Most doctors that specialize already have everything mapped out for you. I started my process last year in November, and they had a waiting list. So now I am getting sleeved tommorrow. Depending on your insurance and the doctor you get to do it it could be quicker...make sure you do all of your research FIRST! Good luck and I am here if you need any assistance!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers......I WILL NEED THEM ALL! @Newlife2....I only have to do a liquid diet the day before, Im not sure why, but I did ask the doctor. I hope that doesnt stop me from losing a lot of weight!

Hi Gang! I just wanted to give you a update: I will be having m surgery on 5/30/12/ I am so excited but a little overwhelmed. I met the surgeon last week and picked a date. It is hard to belive that this is almost over! I am happy for this forum and I think I have a excellent surgeon..........I am soooo ready to be able to sit on the weight losers bench with the rest of you guys. To those who are still waiting, Be patient, and ready! Your surgery date will be here before you know it!

I am sorry for the loss of your mother. This story had a fairy tale ending. I am glad that you chose to make your life better with both the sleeve and your new boyfriend. God is great! Your husband will realize later that he lost out on a good catch! Keep us posted!

Hi, I have BCBS of NC. My paperwork was submitted and approved one week later. This just depends on how slow the company is moving, and if they have all the paper work that is needed at the time. I know it is hard because you are nervous, but you will have your approval soon Blessings, and good Luck!

Wow, I understand exactly where you are coming from. Pray for guidence, No one here can tell you if there will be something better or not. We have to live for today and not worry about tommorrow. Check out your motives: Why are you getting this? Are you getting this to live a more healthier life or do you think that you can lose the weight and keep it off? Regardless of the reason, I hope you make the right decision that YOU can live with. No one is in your body or have to carry the weight around. I personally have second thoughts, I meet the surgeon on 5/17/12 and then I look at myself and realize that I can continue to go on like this. Being obese is like being a ticking time bomb.I dont think that I have a choice in the matter, I have tried and tried and nothing seems to work. I am happy with the fact that I am making a decision to save my life. Good Luck in you decision making process!

Well I already did the nut evaluation lol... nurtritionist, and bloodwork. I hope that the last step is meeting the surgeon....and BAM....I know they dont require any diet before so wel will see!
