  1. A tool is anything that helps you. The smaller stomach will help you lose weight, but it is not a magic bullet like you will wake up skinny after your surgery. You still have to do the work (eat right and exercise) but it just makes it physically easier for you to do. I've observed skinny people eat and I would think to myself, man I wish I could be satisfied with only eating half a sandwich for lunch. Now that I am sleeved, one day I will be able to
  2. Yeah I have them too. I'm 6 days post-op. I didn't start getting them until I got home from Mexico. I am thinking the antibiotic I'm taking is the suspect. I'm pretty grossed out because I'm not eating any food yet still eliminating gunk. Yuck!
  3. Well I'm almost 6 feet tall, I think that's why mine is so long. And it would take A LOT of food to pack it LOL!
  4. Hi everyone. I took today off because I thought I was going to need it. I didn't I feel great! I uploaded my pics from my trip and here's the pic of my stomach. Enjoy!
  5. LOL yes amazeballs is good! I had problem skin, like kinda blotchy just on my left cheek. It's completely gone and my skin is smooth. I met my friend for lunch yesterday and she said it looks like I lost weight. I lost 10 pre-op and I'm not weighing myself until Wednesday (just weekly weigh-ins for me).
  6. Thanks for the updates. Yeah I learned myself that the bandages aren't supposed to be pulled off OOPS!. I bought some surgical tape yesterday and attempted to clean off the "goo" and was going to replace the bandages, then I was like ummm this doesn't feel right. I tried using alcohol to get the goo off, it didn't really work. Today I almost scrubbed my skin off in the shower and most of it came off. Yesterday I met my friend at Panera and went to the mall. I feel regular and normal. I took today off because I thought I would need a week off, so I'm enjoying lounging around at home. It's weird, I'm having bowel movements, they are liquid but it's weird because I'm not eating anything. And also my whole digestive system is just very noisy. I'm doing well with water, Gatorade, and popsicles. I could actually do without the broth. I already decorated my April calendar with the days we can start protein shakes, and skim milk, then mushy foods. I've been good and not stepped on the scale. I'm going to commit to only weekly weigh-ins (on Wednesdays). Have you tried PowerAid? You might like it better, it tastes better to me but the Gatorade isn't bad so I'm sticking to it. I hope you have a safe journey home!
  7. I'm five days post-op and my skin looks amazeballs!!!!
  8. Mine was six days late and started the morning of my surgery. I was pissed! I thought they were going to give me disposable panties. The nurse told me to put some gause pads in my crotch ummm no thanks. She let me wear a tampon. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  9. He's great and he has been since he first called me on the phone last month. He answers all questions and is very friendly. I heard good things about him on these boards before I chose him. I would never choose an arrogant surgeon. I haven't met this new assistant everyone is talking about. I met Ana and Dr. Kelly's wife, she drove us around in a big van. They are great as well!
  10. Hey we tried to find you. We braved that traffic circle and walked over to Starbucks and that pharmacy. We are in 324. We're not doing anything for the rest of the night if you want to stop by!
  11. Ok, so I feel like this is too good to be true. I've never been hospitalized or had surgery. I can't really say anything bad about Florence Hospital, I'm just glad to be outta there! I felt like a prisoner with no fresh air. I'm at the hotel Lucerna now. It's lovely. I have not experienced any pain, I feel like doing cartwheels right now. I only had nausea the night of my surgery, and a little incision pain. Of course I have a little pain if I bend down, but I seriously don't feel like I've had surgery. The only real pain I ever experienced is when I got my tattoo right over my right rib cage 2 years ago. This surgery was NOTHING compared to that. We checked in to the hotel after my leak test. Had a free popsicle. Then we walked around to the Starbucks and this pharmacy. There is a huge traffic circle in front of the hotel and they drive crazy over here, but we got across. I'm actually leaving a day early. I told Dr. Kelly I feel great, he said he's giving me the green light to travel back to MD tomorrow. I'm so excited to start my new life!!!!
  12. Hi everyone I'm sleeved! Woo hoo! My friend said I was gone for about an hour and a half. Everything was a blur. I dont even remember being in recovery. I just remember being very nervous and getting the injection in my arm and it hurt. I'm thinking oh crap if this injection hurts I'm going to be so sore when I wake up. I remember my eyes crossing and saying its working then laughing then I was out cold. I remember moving myself over to my bed. I didn't feel any pain just nausea. I felt like I had to hurl. They have been pumping me full of meds. Dr. Kelly came by and gave me my camera. He took two pictures of my stomach for me. It looked huge. He said last night was the worst part and I will feel better in the morning. So far I have taken two walks and had ice and Water. The water doesn't hurt going down but it does gurgle. 13. So Dr. Kelly just came by and said there was miscommunication about my surgery time yesterday. It's not at 10 am it's at 2 pm. Pooh! So I have 4 hours and 45 more minutes to wait. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  14. Hi everyone. Sarah just got me up so I can shower and she can prep me for surgery. I'm scheduled for 10 am. Annnnnnd my period was 6 days late and decided to come on just now. Fml! I am the only patient today. I had my chest X-ray last night and just gave a urine sample. I will keep u all posted! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  15. Thanks! Yeah I really do want to see and feel my stomach but I knew that would be asking too much lol. I have a pretty strong stomach, I worked with rat parts in grad school and made rat brain smoothies out of them. I will definitely keep posting. I'm so excited! I guess the nerves will hit me when I'm stretched out on the operating table tomorrow.
  16. I'm here!!! I will be sleeved tomorrow by Dr. Kelly. We arrived at the San Diego airport around 12 and the minute I turned on my phone Ana called to see where we were. She picked us up, Cecilia, Dr. Kelly's wife drove us around San Diego for some quick sight seeing. We checked into the hospital and while we were waiting in the lobby we met Dr. Kelly and he asked if I had any more questions. I asked him if he uses a drain tube (I got kinda freaked out reading about them on here). He doesn't. And I told him I'm the weirdo that wants a pic of my stomach. He remembered and then showed me that he had a picture of the remains of a stomach as the screensaver on his phone lol! We were taken to my room, and Ana told us about places we can go for some food (for my friend). We walked about 3 blocks down to the beach. It was beautiful. There is also a 7-eleven there. We ended up eating at a restaurant across the street from the hospital. I asked for drained soup, but the broth had so much fat swimming on top of it I didn't eat it. I'm not really hungry, I'm just making sure I drink enough water. I'm so excited, my surgery is scheduled for 10 am tomorrow. I like it here, felt totally safe and so far every one is great!
  17. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Oh, here's the kicker. We have to submit our order on this spreadsheet next week. So everyone can see everyone's order. Yeah, I'm really thinking about calling in that day. It's not one of those things we can be here in the office and miss.
  18. What are good ways to handle the questions like, oh you're not eating? Or oh, that's all you're eating? I'm being sleeved in 2 days and I just got an e-mail at work about my supervisor's promotion party. It's at a Mexican spot exactly 2 weeks post-op. I already looked at the menu and know I can get the chicken tortilla soup and just eat the broth. But I already know I will be questioned. The last time we had bday cake at work, I didn't want any and it seems like everyone was down my throat about it. I said I was watching my sugar, oh this is not that sweet. ugh! I ended up taking a plate back to my office and trashing it. I'm really considering calling in sick that day. I really don't want to deal with the questions. Help!
  19. I got a case of 18 from costco for $25. I heard Sam's has them too. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  20. Great welcome back! So overall were you pleased with Dr. Kelly and staff? I had to move my date back one day. Leaving next Tuesday to get sleeved on the 28th. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  21. Lol I watched the LASIK procedure on YouTube all night the night before my surgery. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  22. Congratulations on making the decision. Good luck on your journey!
  23. Congratulations for making the decision. Good luck on your journey!
  24. No not crazy at all. You have the power to take control and get this surgery. I have battled the bulge since 12 and I'm finally about to win this war!! My insurance company did not approve me. My BMI is 39. Not high enough. I have 101 lbs to lose to be at the top range of normal. With that much to lose you would think I would get an approval. Anyway I'm being sleeved by Dr. Kelly in 11 days! Sent from my iPhone using VST
