If you can't choke down the protein drinks then be SURE to EAT protein before you eat anything else. This is vital to your energy level. Get some protein bars too. Look for "Think Thin" protein bars. They taste good and will not kill you on calories and fat and carbs. Lots of protein in them. Snack on beef jerky. Have tuna for lunch, eggs for breakfast and a try some grilled chicken on a salad at night. cottage cheese and fruit for an evening snack. Get that protein in anywhere you can. If you have yogurt, have Greek yogurt, as it is higher in protein. Yoplait makes a 100 calorie Greek. Very good.
I'm cold too. I'm sitting here right now just freezing solid!!! VEry weird for me.

Weird. First I've heard of having to do that! Are the shots specific to a medical condition or does he make everyone do that??? And the wait time! Jeezum crow, you'll die of old age before you get the sleeve. Is there anyone out of state you could drive or fly to for the surgery? I went one state over and could have had an appt. within...2 or 3 weeks. I did not bother to wrangle the insurance co. though. I went straight for cash. That may make a difference.
Post op diet- It seems there are as many opinions on this as there are doctors! Listen to the one you end up using. Listen to your body too. Just don't let it get you into trouble

I love to fly but I don't because of the looks I get. You know the one "oh god don't let her be sitting next to me" can't wait.........till I get there too...

At nine months out now...I STILL try to inhale my food when I get too hungry. Then the paaaiiin hits. I have to consciously tell myself when I sit down, "eat slowly, eat slowly, chew a lot, put the fork down." otherwise, the full sensation does not register until i've swallowed too much. I fear that this may have led to some capacity increase, but I could be totally wrong. It just seems that if there is pain in the sleeve, it's being taxed.... I don't want to stretch it. That would be my concern. That, and just plain overeating.

I'm 8 months out and this will still happen to me if I eat food that is too rich and if I eat too much of it too fast. Too rich, meaning....too fatty. A cream soup could do that if you're in early stages. Especially if eaten too fast.

Oohhh ya. The ability to eat anything ("normally" speaking) comes back over time. Some people continue to have some trouble with certain foods. I do not have trouble with ANY foods. Everything seems more drastic and or dramatic than it is during the whole healing process, but life returns to normal (a NEW normal) eventually. It's awesome!

That's AWESOME!!! This may sound dorky, but I don't want you to have to beat the crap out of anyone.... make up a list of about 10 or 20 stock questions and when you don't know what to say, you ask questions. People LOVE to talk about themselves. You ask one question and you'll be nodding and shaking your head and saying "uh huh" for like....half an hour.... And they'll think you're like...the greatest guy they ever met!
(OH-- and I finally lost a pound BELOW my bounced up weight. Yay!! I really need to kick my own butt. Turns out I was all swollen up from Aunt Flo visiting!! I've been in menopause for a couple years, so this was a shocker!)

Wow. I could've just about written that SAME post around January!! You really do obsess just trying to figure out what life will be like post op. Taking a break is a great idea, especially the week before surgery. Limit your time on here or you will freak out on what people are writing. Go flush your brain of it all for a while. That's a good idea.
If you've decided surgery is right for you, then don't let any negativity from anyone ruin that for you.

OMGosh, I could've written this myself.... except I started at 349 and am only 5'6". :s I am HORRIFIED at pics that were taken only 6 or 8 months ago. I want to burn them and pretend that "that me" just never existed. YIKES... (I have before and current pics in my photo gallery if you want to be horrified too! LOL)
    This Part:
"You were so fat that I was really worried about you. When I stood next to you, I could hear you having trouble breathing and I was scared for you. You’ve had trouble walking and getting around. You look a lot better and a lot healthier now.”
My sister in law said the EXACT same thing to me just the other day! Unbelievable!!

I need to see you logging on MFP again too!!! I don't know how you feel about using MFP, but it REEEAALLLYY helps me with the whole "reality check" thing, and you can see right away how destructive your food choices are. And HONESTLY log EVERY bite you take, good or bad. You know we won't judge, just encourage. I ate ice cream yesterday like a fool, and logged it, and saw what it did to my day. Now i don't want it anymore. BLECH. POO POO!!!
Get on the stick. We're here. We'll bug you. This is important and we're not going to let you blow it!!!

Good job Dooter, I stayed at an Holiday Inn last night. As I past the breakfast counter they had some cookies out on the counter. Boy did they looked good. So I had one and took one nibble then though the rest away. I was completely satisfied.
Ops I forgot to log it on MFP.

    Cool!
Yesterday my husband and I went shopping at a large mall near our home that has just redone their food court. He wanted to check it out. We ended up eating dinner there.
I ordered a "mini" Tom Yum soup with chicken and had about 1/3 of it and he was desperately craving the "mini pecan caramel cheesecake" cup. So we shared it! I had about 3 small spoons and he had the rest.
Logged it in MFP also (best estimates, anyways) and it didn't hurt my day either!
This is exactly what I've been telling people.......you don't have to say goodbye to things you want and/or love. You just have to fit then into your new lifestyle in small portions!
    Glad you enjoyed the day!

I love you!!!! You made my day, nothing goes as planned. I was like you, I thought I'd be out doing the trails and I'm 22 days out and I spend more time in nightgowns than clothes. The complications I had weren't something I planned on, but I'm taking it all in great stride.
I learned the hard way never to trust a fart.
Sending my thoughts and prayers that you start feeling better soon. Work will always be there, take care of you
